  • Take course in UK or Thailand for first-time diver?

    Hi all,

    I'm going to Thailand in December and would like to try scuba diving. I understand that some of the training involves classroom-based training, and don't want to spend any holiday time in a classroom if I can avoid it.

    Would people recommend me doing a course here before I go? If so, what type of course, how much, and any recommendations?

  • How do I get rid of a Jehovahs Witness?

    I have a Jehovahs Witness who keeps coming to my door. The first time I just let him rant on at me, and I took a bible and closed the door on his face. But he comes back 3 times a week to speak to me. Normally I don't answer the door or tell him I'm really busy, but I want to get rid of him permanently. What can I say to him politely but firmly to make sure he never comes back?

    Thanks

  • Hair tuition in London?

    Hi there, I have long brown frizzy hair, and no matter what I do or which hairdresser I go to, it somehow just always looks dry, frizzy, scruffy and untidy. I was wondering whether there were any online videos or hair stylists who/that can show you simple and basic ways to style your hair that don't take too long and look good.

  • Workout every day or every other day for weight loss?

    Hi there, I'm a 27 year old female who has previously been rather inactive. I'm looking to lose a couple of stone and tone up my whole body. Is it better to work out every day for less time (around 20 mins cardio followed by weights) or every other day for slightly longer (around 40 mins cardio plus weights)?

  • Self-assessment or accountant?

    I have a second property that I have been rented out on and off since January 2008, though only recently started to make profit. I now realise I need to declare the income as part of my tax return, but should I fill out the self-assessments going back to Jan 08 or speak to an accountant first? If the latter, any London-based recommendations?

  • What shall I do with citrus fruit that is about to go off?

    I have an orange, lemon and lime left over and it seems a waste to chuck them out. Is there any way of freezing them or preserving them in some way?

  • When should I give notice to the landlord on my flat?

    My partner and I have just had an offer accepted on a flat, but I don't want to give notice until I'm certain its all definite. Is there a point in the conveyancing process where its the 'point of no return' and I can therefore give notice? Our notice period is 2 months, and I'm conscious that I don't want to have to pay 1 month's mortgage on top of 1 month's rent if possible.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

  • Where can I find a straight edged toilet seat?

    I have a white plastic toilet seat that has broken, but I'm struggling in vain to replace it. It is 380mm along the top edge, but instead of curving out slightly and then curving back in at the bottom, its widest at the top, then has straight edges down from that, and then it curves to the bottom. There are no details on the seat to give me an idea of where to buy a replacement from. Does anyone know where could I find one? (I'm in London, UK)

  • Where in London can I buy really good pick n mix sweets from?

    I'm a big fan of pick n mix sweeties, but lately the only two options seem to be Woolworths or the cinema, one being an excellent source of various bacteria thanks to kids coughing over, and fiddling with the mini jellies, the other being the cost of a small mortgage. Does anyone know somewhere in London where I could find a really good selection of not overly expensive pick n mix sweets?

    Thanks

  • Where shall I go to buy a whole new wardrobe of clothes post-weight loss?

    I am currently on Lighter Life, and have lost 2stone 6pounds, and have another 1stone 3pounds to go. I project that I will have reached my goal by mid-September.

    I would like to buy myself primarily a new capsule wardrobe of quality clothes (not too expensive), including some nice tailored trousers and suits for work, as well as some jeans and tops for going out.

    I live in North London - where would you recommend? And around mid-September, would that be a good time for sales?

  • MS Access form - move to different box depending on value picked in combo box?

    I've set up a data entry form in MS Access for questionnaire data. There are a couple of questions where if you answer one way, you're directed to another question (e.g. If no, go to Question 5, rather than Question 2). I've got combo boxes with pre-defined values, how do I set it so that picking one value transports you to one combo box and picking another value transports you to a different combo box.

  • Excel VBA code help - conditional formatting?

    I have code below to colour in some cells depending on the values added. I now want to add further conditions based on new ranges. This is the code so far:

    Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)

    Dim icolor As Integer

    If Not Intersect(Target, Range("D5:F5")) Is Nothing Then

    Select Case Target2

    Case 0 To 2700

    icolor = 3

    Case 2701 To 2900

    icolor = 44

    Case 2901 To 3100

    icolor = 4

    Case 3101 To 3300

    icolor = 44

    Case 3301 To 50000

    icolor = 3

    End Select

    Target.Interior.ColorIndex = icolor

    End If

    End Sub

    How do I add the following into the code for range D6:F6?

    Case 0 To 20

    icolor = 3

    Case 21 To 30

    icolor = 44

    Case 31 To 40

    icolor = 4

    Case 41 To 50

    icolor = 44

  • Why does my cat do these strange things?

    He licks me (on my arms, feet, face, etc.), chews my hair and randomly attacks me by just jumping on my arm and biting it. He also scrapes the floor in front of his food, just like he would as if he were in his litter tray. Does anyone know why cats do these strange things? Should I be worried?
