  • Testing spring water directly from the ground?

We're putting a well in on our farm on top of a spring that is running up out of the ground. Is it possible and feasible to test this water for contaminants? Most test kits want you to use water from the tap. I'd like to know if the water has any 'critters' in it before we go to the expense of drilling the well if at all possible.

  • Question for guys who were circumcised later in life.?

I'm giving birth to my first son in a few weeks and of course the question of circumcision has to be answered. My husband thinks we should have the circumcision done at the standard 7-10 days but after reading A LOT on the subject, I feel we should leave the decision to him when he's older.

I think it's barbaric to do it to an infant, he's sure the boy will want it done in the future and that it will be barbaric to do it then...

I'm curious to know what other men think about it who have actually had it done as an older child or adult? Were you glad you were given the choice or do you wish your parents would have had it done as an infant? Are you satisfied with the results or do you wish you were still intact?

  • Just wondering what kind of health care coverage other very small businesses are offering their employees?

We're trying to put a benefit package together for our employees (we have 5) and we're not sure what to offer. Should we pay a flat amount toward each employee and ask them to chip in the rest or maybe a percentage of their pay level? We have some whose premium will be much higher than others due to age, smoking etc. How can we be fair to everyone as well as ourselves?

  • Do I have to accept my sister's latest affair? For Christians Please...?

My sister is 10 years older than me. As we were growing up she was like a surrogate mother and even helped lead me to the Lord later in life. She divorced her first husband when I was 8. When she left that husband she moved right in with her husband's cousin and a few months later married him. She had one daughter with him. About 12 years into that marriage she met someone online and ended up having an affair with him- this is while she is majorly involved in our church and a confessing born again christian. It just about tore our family in two! She decided to stay, we all forgave her and life went on. About about 7 years later she has gotten involved with an old boyfriend from high school. She has left her husband again and is filing for divorce. She has no biblical grounds for divorcing him. She says she loves him but she is not IN love with him. Again, our family is ripped in two. I love my brother in law as a true brother and I'm filled with disgust that she has done this to all of us...lots of lies, betrayal etc.

I rebuked her using scripture several weeks ago and she went on a major character ripping rant on me...I don't know how to be around her or how to handle it scripturally. I do forgive her for her hurtful remarks and even for her mistakes, but should I really accept her new man? I ask myself what Jesus would do in this situation and I just don't know...She's bringing him over to our parents house today and I feel like just the act of me being there is like condoning this sin. Her divorce is not even close to being final so it is very much an act of adultery right in my parents home. She shows no remorse and has not repented of anything. I think she believes she'll repent when she has the ring of the new man on her finger. I believe this is deadly behavior for a christian to practice.

How should one Christian treat another that sins willfully with no sign of remorse or repentance.

I would appreciate some answers from fellow christians. Other people and religions can reply if you like but since my life guide is the bible I would appreciate answers based on that only.

  • Submandibular Glands or Lymph Nodes?

I have had bilateral swelling under my jaw line for 8 months now. I noticed it just days after giving birth to my daughter and I actually ignored it somewhat until the last couple of months. In the back of my mind I was thinking I had pulled muscles during delivery but I really started palpating them in the last few weeks and I can feel that they are either the submandibular glands or lymph nodes. Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between the two?

Also if it is submandibular glands, what could be the cause of swelling? I don't have pain in any teeth and nothing to suggest a stone in the salivary glands. I do have one stubborn wisdom tooth that has not emerged all of the way, but if it is the cause would I have swollen glands on both sides or just the same side as the tooth?

They are movable and feel like they are about an inch in diameter. You can see visible swelling there. I'm not sure if I should go to a dentist, my gp or perhaps and ent...I don't have good insurance so I don't want to waste money going to the wrong doctors.

  • Arabian Horse Bloodlines...?

If I wanted to start an Arabian Breeding Operation what would be some good bloodlines for my foundation stock?

I'm thinking of going Shagya but not totally set on that at this point...I like them for their larger size. I want quality animals with traditional (not modern) characteristics.

  • Illinois Residents or Neighboring States...Best Weekend Getaway...?

Anyone know of any really nice hotels or lodges for a Valentines Day weekend getaway? We'll be looking to relax but somewhere with a few attractions would be nice.

BTW- I'm in west central Illinois. Peoria, Springfield, Quincy, Hannibal, Chicago, St. Louis are all an hour to 3 hours away from us. We don't want to go any further than this radius.

  • Where does mankind's conscience come from? Do you think it is learned or are we all born with it?

If you were to go to a jungle tribe in the most untouched place on earth, you would find that the people have a certain set of moral laws that govern them.

Murder is considered wrong by ALL peoples (for example). Stealing is considered wrong by all peoples. Ever think about why man was born with this trait? WHO decided what was right and what was wrong?
