Why do YOU answer in the Fish section?
After spending about a year and a half on this site answering fish questions, I have seen quite a few answerers come and go. Some good, some bad. Some I wish I would have gotten to talk to more, some I regret talking to at all. How did YOU find Yahoo! Answers? What drew YOU to the Fish section? And why do YOU continue to answer in the Fish section?
I'd like everybody to post a link to their first answer in the fish section... time for some nostalgia!
Here was my first answer... so long ago! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Apsee...
16 AnswersFish1 decade agoMetric or US?
When applying volume, length, temperature, and any other applicable measurements to your fish tank, do you use metric measurements (liters, centimeters, Celsius, etc.) or U.S. measurements (gallons, inches, Fahrenheit, etc.)?
13 AnswersFish1 decade agoKeeping Tanganyikan Shell Dwellers and Discus?
I would really like to have a 55 gallon aquarium with Tanganyikan Shell Dwelling Cichlids occupying the sand, and a pair of Discus swimming in the middle. Water quality is not the problem, I can keep a clean tank, but is there a stable temperature they would both tolerate? Is there a water hardness they would both tolerate? I only want help from somebody who really knows what they are talking about. There should not be any aggression problems between the two because of the Shell Dwelllers' small size and their bottom dwelling habbits. Any knowledgable help would be great!
6 AnswersFish1 decade agoCould I keep my Yo-yo Loaches and Gouramis alive in a Tanganyikan Cichlid tank?
Could I keep my Yo-yo Loaches and Gouramis alive in a Tanganyikan Cichlid tank if I introduce the Loaches and Gouramis a week or two before my Cichlids? (55 gallon, well planted tank)
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoTangayikan cichlid tank ideas...?
I am planning on getting a 40-75 gallon tank for my Cichlids. I am just going to throw this out there, please tell me if this would work... and please don't give me any "one inch of fish per gallon" crap! The tank is going to be the longest tank I can find within the 40-75 gallon range.
15 miscellaneous Tanganyikan Shell Dwellers (Cichlid (under 2 inches))
3 Electric Yellow Cichlids (4 inches)
3 Yo-yo Loaches (4 inches)
2 Black Khuli Loaches (4 inches)
2 Dwarf Gouramis (2 inches)(male and female, maybe 2 females)
7 Schooling Barbs (2 inches or less... Ideas please?)
2 inches of sand and coral gravel combo
Live plants (Taiwan Moss, Riccia, Maybe 3 Swords)
20 shells for hiding
Maybe driftwood
I need help deciding what schooling fish to use if not Barbs, what rooted plants wouldn't get torn out, how many cichlids are reccomended without having them get torn up by each other.
