  • Pls help name painting/artist!!?

Hi all, for the life of me I cannot remember either the artist or the name of the painting. It depicts a group of men in evening suits walking along the beach in what appears to be early morning, collars undone, jackets over shoulders, it gives the impression that its the morning after the night before and to me I get the impression they are good friends enjoying the early morning and each others company.

Any help would be much appreciated - top marks to first correct answer!!!

  • Calling all landlords - would you rent to tenants with snakes?

Long story short - rented out my house last year via a thoroughly incompetent letting agent and when I sacked the agent I undertook a visit to the property. Turns out the tenant has a large number of snakes in glass cages, they said the agent knew about them from day 1 - I believe him, he has no reason to lie! However, is there anything I should be aware of in relation to this particular pet, is there any clauses I should draw up in the new tenancy agreement to cover any eventuality? Very happy with tenant, pays rent on time, house is being looked after, dont want to lose them but want to be aware of any possible risks.

    Hi all,

I am renting a house that my family and I want to stay in, the landlord has had a dispute with the agent and has just changed agents but he has assured me that it will not affect me - however the old agent is refusing to pay back the deposit until the landlord settles a disputed amount - can they do that?? The deposit was paid to the agent, not the landlord and was with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme - can they do this to me????

  • Should I put house on market - Liverpool area?

    Hi all,

Just testing the market at moment, but basically I want to sell my house that I have in Liverpool. I needed to move to Ireland last year for work and due to the downturn I had to rent my home out instead of sell. I have good tenants but really I would rather release the equity so I can buy here so my question is, is now a good time to sell?? Are more people getting mortgages, is there a market for BTL's?? What are your views people?

    All responses greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

  • Anyone been approved for mortgage recently?

As the government has just bailed out the banks (indeed many governments have all over the world!!) and stipulated that they have to start lending to small businesses and mortgage loans, my question is has anyone out there in the UK been recently approved for a mortgage and if so, how much of a deposit did you have to have? Has house sales started moving again? Is now a good time to buy before house prices increase due to approved lending increases?

  • Cat seems to have a chesty infection??

Before anyone tells me to take her to vet - I have her booked for appointment tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else here would have an opinion. She is a semi-long haired beautiful cat but for the past two days her breathing sounds as if she has phlegm in her chest!! Otherwise she is eating fine, passing solids and seems to be in her usual aloof yet good manner. It sounds like she is snoring all the time, it definitely seems to be her lungs - any ideas anyone? Anyone experienced similar problems?

Many thanks in advance for genuine replies.

  • Sherlock Holmes - Is he fully appreciated?

Does anyone else here fully appreciate the genius of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with his superb works of the above fictional detective? I have found that many subsequent authors have tried to replicate his works with less than believeable results i.e. Agatha Christie - pants!!! Comments welcome.
