  • How does an abandoned child get into foster care?

Firstly, don't panic. I'm just a writer, so this is definitely not urgent, and I'm in no danger, but it would be very helpful if someone would answer my questions :)

Here's the situation: The kid's Dad is gone, missing, off the map, under the radar, maybe dead, we don't know at this point. He's left with his 18-year-old brother. The two have no permanent home.

What control does the older brother have over the situation? What about the younger?

Who would they contact to get information on foster care?

What process must the kid endure?

Any other information would be very helpful. Thank you for reading.

  • Is this really necessary?

What I've noticed in the religion and spirituality forum is that Christians are being hateful and hypocritical and atheists are being unnecessarily rude and condescending, and it really bothers me.

Atheists. If you willfully view posts on one of these forums, you will definitely, inevitably, without question find stuff about God, and most of that stuff will be about how he exists and stuff. I get it if you want to educate people. But some of your are straight-up jerks, and all it does is make you feel smart and provoke Christians to respond in kind.

Christians. If you post stuff, people will comment. Maybe they will have good intentions, in which case you should listen to them. If not, I know it's hard, but you have to respond gracefully, or not at all.

The key to understanding is to make rhetorical questions genuine, and to answer genuine questions with respect and patience. And I'm sure that we're all capable of that.

  • Where can I find this opera?

I want to find a performance of Caldara's "La costanza in amor Vince l'inganno" because I will be singing the well-loved "Sebben Crudele." I understand that there haven't been many modern performances of it, but I believe a synopsis or summary would be sufficient.

  • Help with algebra 2 problem?

The problem is (12y^1/3)/(4y^1/2). I ended up with 3y^4. I just want to know whether or not this is correct.

  • Help with completing the square?

So the problem is 5x^2=8x-6. I've gotten to (x-4/5)=sqroot(-14/25). I know that I could reduce to sqroot(14)/5 if there were no negative, but there is, and I don't know where to put the italicized i. Help?

  • Help with algebra 2 problem?

I need to find how x and y correlate. The x values start at 0.25, and they move up in 0.25 increments up to 4.00. The y values start at 75 and decrease in increments of 5 until it gets to 0. How can I find how these values relate to each other?

  • Is there a name for this?

So I was writing something, when I realized how weird this sentence was: "I almost laughed at the shock of seeing her smile."

In this instance, "her smile" could function as a noun or "smile" could function as a verb. Is there a literary term for when a word or phrase could either function as a noun or a verb? Thank you :)

I am trying to download an application that requires a wifi connection, but for some reason, my phone will not connect. My brother has the same phone as me, is connected to the same wifi network, but can connect to iTunes and the Internet. Any ideas?

  • Humane way to kill mice?

So we have a bit of a mouse problem. Is there any way to kill them in a humane, quick, and painless way? Catching them is not going to work. I could use glue traps and then kill them, but that defeats the purpose. Snap traps don't work too well, the mice set it off but don't get caught for some reason.

Keep in mind that I am only asking for directions on how to solve the problems, not answers. I missed a day of school this week, so I don't quite understand.

  • What are some appropriate Amy Winehouse songs for a 13-yo to sing?

I was a big fan of hers and I wanted to post a tribute video on YouTube. I loved I'm no good and rehab, but those would probably not be good decisions for a person my age. Any suggestions? And if there are only one or two questionable parts in a song, I can figure out a way to edit those parts out unless you can. Thanks in advance ^^

  • Why does it feel like I'm not getting enough air?

Usually, it feels kinda satisfying to breathe. Now, not so much. And I doubt it's that big a deal, so I'm NOT wasting anyone's time by calling 911. Any ideas what it is and/or how I can't stop it?
