  • Is it OK to display wedding photos of my guests at my wedding?

I have empty shelves on either side of the cake, and would love to fill it with photos of my guests on their own wedding day. I believe most people will enjoy seeing the display, but don t want to offend divorced or single people. Is it OK to do this or in poor taste?

  • What's a typical deployment time for a nurse in the Navy Reserve?

I know this is a specific question! But does anyone have any experience with this? I am strongly considering joining and I just wonder how long I should expect to be away if/when I am deployed. I saw an article online where an RN in the navy reserve was deployed for 16 months! Enlisted/ Officers who aren't RNs feel free to reply based on your own experiences. Any one want to add their two cents? Waiting for a recruiter to get back to me. Thanks in advance!

  • RNs- did school prepare you for your job as a hospital nurse?

I want to speak to the registered nurses or those who are close with one : )

im going into my senior year at a four year nursing school. so I'll be an RN with my BSN. I am doing an externship now at a hospital and working with a nurse, and discovering that it is so very different from what we focus on in school. There are a lot of things I need to get to right away. There is obviously a hugeee focus on lab values, drugs, and management.

Do you have any tips? What do you suggest I focus on and learn now to make my first year as an RN smoother? Thanks : )

  • Differin Cream vs. the Gel?

I have a lot of faith in differin, I've seen my friend have amazing results. But he uses the gel. I asked my doctor for the cream b/c I have naturally dryer skin. Has anyone had success with the cream? I am asking b/c it is .1% of the active ingredient when the gel is .3% and I don't wanna waste all this time if I should go get the gel. My doctor never even heard of it, lol, he had to look it up online. So I turn to the internet. :P

  • Should you wash your face in the morning when you use Differin?

you're supposed to wash at night, and apply. i've always washed my face each morning but should i? i don't want to wash off the medicine. and if i reapply, it would probably be really irritating. my doctor is never helpful, but maybe your doctors shared some info?

  • How can I feel confident?

What are some ways to build confidence in yourself?

I am extremely shy when I meet new people. When I do say things, it's awkward, forced, and not me. I definitely do this because I am not confident. With my friends, I can't shut up. But I'm not here for an ugly-check. People could say whatever they want about my looks but it has to come from inside. And it's easy to say "don't worry about looks, just be yourself," but that's not easy to do when meeting new people- I just feel stifled, like I can't act like myself, because I feel like I am being negatively judged based on how I look. And I try to talk myself out of that, say that I am the rude one for assuming that people are so shallow. But it's just something that I can't break free from. I feel like trapped in myself. My personality shuts down when I meet new people. My closest friends are my family, but it takes me so so much to become comfortable with people, they have literally pushed me to meet new people.

    http://www.wikihow.com/Come-to-Terms-with-Feeling-...

that page has helped me, but i still feel somewhat uninspired. i just feel so trapped. i could do a number of things with my looks, including plastic surgery if i wanted to be so extreme, but would that change the way that i feel? i really don't think so. i would love anything anyone has to say. thanks in advance.

  • What can you do or say to cheer up an elderly, depressed patient or person?

i am a nursing student, and i have always been drawn to working with the elderly. but (as i haven't taken mental health or geriatrics yet in school) i just don't know how to encourage them when they are depressed or go on about nothing to live for. because, though it sounds awful, sometimes they don't- sometimes they have no family, no money, no home. and i would love to say how much there is for them to contribute, because there is so much, but to who? for those whose lives are sad and lonely, they often feel they have no purpose. and though i want to be their purpose, to make them feel valued and important, i know that i can't always be with them. i want to send them out with a feeling of value and of worth, but i just don't know how to put it to them.

are there any nurses, or anyone who deals with an elderly parent, grandparent, anyone clever, anyone at all?

this comes to mind again because i visited my grandmother's friend in the hospital today and she was being transferred to a local psych ward for depression and anxiety- they were medicating her and it wasn't enough. there also needs to be some degree of her learning to overcome those horrible feelings, but how? she cant just be heavily medicated for the rest of her life. how can i convey to these elderly people what they are worth?

  • How do you use eyelash primer?

that makes me sound pretty stupid, haha. i just don't know if i am supposed to let it dry or not before the mascara? dry halfway?

in the past i have really disliked primers because, once dry, the mascara can't really do it's job except color the lashes black. but i don't know if that's due to the brand that i used. i am going to buy lancome's new one, which looks amazing. just yah, at what point of dryness do i begin the mascara?

  • Creative / unique French bands or musicians?

i want some unique french music. can you help me ? : )

i love donovan from england, bob dylan from here, banhart from venezuela. the velvet underground, the white stripes, the vines-love. i just want more of it, but i really want to get into french music. but not necessarily the mainstream, something clever and creative and french, anyone else love that stuff too?

it doesn't have to be folk or indie, but that's probs what it will be. just anything that has a unique sound and is in french is what im looking for.

    thanks so much!

  • Can lightbulb sockets get wet/bleached?

I sprayed bleach into lightbulb socket to kill a wasp...totally impulsive and stupid decision. It flickered and went out.

I'm assuming it will just evaporate and go away, but I want to make sure that this can't cause an electrical fire.

  • Have you ever been in love?

I am wondering whether the world is split into two types of people: those who fall in love and those who do not. (and perhaps a hazy group of those who think that they have !)

what if some people never fall in love, they just "love." then again love is just love, some like to say. but others treat it as this amazing thing, im talking about like in the movies, in love, do anything for that person. ever have that?

  • can you get a mantoux (PPD) test wet?

it's that TB skin test that has to sit on your arm for three-four days.

my doctor says don't get it wet, so i hafta wash my hair in the sink and miss out on the summertime.

but my friends weren't told that and one of them says her test came back negative despite getting it wet. so what's up, is my doctor just old and telling me an outdated rule for an older version of the test?

i am going to the beach today so i would love to know if i can hop in the ocean!

  • Can any doctors help me interpret the two step PPD test on my arm?

okay so for nursing school i am required to do a two step PPD test to check for TB. the first one i was fine, there was no hint of anything on my arm. the second one (now a week later) is different, it's hard and raised around the injection site. i read online that this either means that i have had it in my distant past, (which i haven't) or that i am immune to the disorder, but I don't know if that's true?

What is the expected result for the second test? should it be raised or not? is it only an indication of the first injection? Or is this bad news meaning I'll need that chest xray and will be delayed in the fall to begin school :/

(i only got the injection today but the first time it was gone by nighttime completely)

  • what papers do i need to bring to the doctor?

i have never been to the doctor without my parents; therefore i've never organized my own paperwork. i am nineteen and i am going to the derm even though they say no ("perfect just the way you are" bullshit lol). i will still use their insurance, and pay the copay myself and use my cash/check for the treatment.

but this is the thing, i don't even want to bother getting a referral from my primary physician considering he's a pain in the ***. but what should i bring to the derm then? i know i need to give them some papers, would that be my medical records? (and can i just walk in w/ a copy from my primary physician?) and i am assuming i should bring my insurance card, even though i don't think it covers dermatology. what else, guys, help me out pleaseeee, i wanna be an adult now :D

(also i plan on getting a price on the phone, which i know may seem cheap and strange, but hey i hafta live, lol.)

  • Gladiator Sandals...How long will they last?

I want to know b/c I can't decide if I should invest in a nice pair of strappy sandals, or if it will be gone with the warm weather.

If they do come back, and I passed up a cute pair, I will be so bummed out! It seems like such a big trend everyone is upgrading their flip flops to a more chic style. But what do you girls think, will they all be strapping up again next year, or will there be a whole new trend instead?

(i thought uggs was a phase so i really do need your insight! )

  • Is there a nursing field that has the same focus as paramedics?

i know that nurses can't be nurse paramedics. it's two separate things, requiring two separate certifications. i would have to pick up being a paramedic as a separate/part time job. i am in nursing school for my BSN but i have deep down always loved everything about being a paramedic, it's just not the same as in an ER. so anyways, i know that sometimes nurses are employed in similar fields, but i know nothing about them. anyone have a clue?

  • Does weight loss supplement iSatori work?

iSatori lean system 7. anyone use it?

A lot of them seem like b/s, but this one is natural and says it will be an *aid*, if you work out regularly and eat right, both of which I do, I just want to lose the last ten. It gets great reviews, but considering they are on the website, they may not be valid. I just don't want to buy unless I am sure.

so if you have used it, do you think it helped? and also important! does it cause gas or other strange side effects? (if it does, i might forget it altogether, lol)

  • does anyone else have trouble falling in love?

so basically i can't attach to anyone. i have dated a few guys, greattt ones who i could laugh with and who were so sweet, and i just haven't felt attached, only sexually, and i felt more trapped. every time i feel a guy getting close to me i feel the urge to get awayyyy and i don't know why. that's why im not looking for any relationships for a while, but what if i never feel the need for another person? never have i needed someone to always be there. but people think you're weird when you're constantly single. and why is it, will i get to the point when i want to be with someone? and how do those relationship people handleee talking to the same person every day for so long! i realize that this had a lot to do with my state of mind, that is why i am posting to the psychology section. (im 20, by the way, i have had plenty of time to ponder what's wrong with me, this isn't middle school angst, lol)
