How to better splice this harness to my instrument gauge?
I have spliced my motorcycle wiring harness that leads to the instrument gauge to extend the length. Now only the neutral indicator light works. I soldered and matched each color. Only thing I know is that the wire gauge sizes are different barely(1 to 2 sizes difference). What can I do better to get this thing shining again?

One day i I disconnect the positive terminal from the battery while the car was running and it stayed on (also take note that the instrument cluster had all its lights).
Next day I get in the car to turn it over and I notice in the instrument cluster, there are alot of gauges missing. like speedo, temp, gas mileage, and other electrical switches werent working.
I tested the alternator again and this time the car turned off when I disconnected it.
