Big difference between 12 psi and 15 psi pressure cooker?

Looking forward to buy this pressure cooker, since i really like it, and i am getting it for a good value.

The only drawback is that it operates at 12 psi compared to standard 15 psi.

Does it make a lot of difference to cook times when switching from 15 psi jiggle type to 12 psi modern pressure cooker?

Or is the increase in cooktime very little?

Is overpressure possible in modern pressure cooker?

I have used jiggletop pressure cooker all my life (the model where there is a weight on top and it whistles when the pressure builds up).

I am looking forward to buy a new pressure cooker, a modern one which is not jiggle type. There is a spring which is used to build up pressure.

Something like the fagor pressure cooker type.

Normally these pressure cooker run at 15 psi.

While using these pressure cooker, it is recommended that heat should be reduce once it reaches the operating pressure.

I was wondering, if i do not turn down the heat when using such pressure cooker and keep the heat at high, will steam escape if pressure exceeds 15 psi? Or will it get over pressurized to 16-17 psi and the only way of steam to escape is the emergency safety valve.

In the old jiggle type pressure cooker if i do not turn down the heat, it will only whistle more frequently rather than buildup of over-pressure.

I am interested in buying the modern type pressure cooker.. but i am curious of how will steam escape if heat is kept high.

    Hope my question is clear.

  • Vegetarian eggless recipes using home gas grill/home gas oven?

    Level : Beginner

  • What component removes the moisture from air in an a/c?

    Basically consider these two cases....

Case 1) i turn on the fan in my car (re-circulation inside)...

whatever temperature i set, the air coming out is very humid and sticky...

if i turn on the "a/c", the air feels fresh / dry / not sticky, no matter what ever the temperature.

that means the a/c removed the moisture/humidity from the air...

    Case 2) I set the home a/c to 20 deg C. (central a/c)

current home temperature is like 23 deg C...

So the a/c keeps giving out cold air till it reaches 20 deg C

once it reaches 20 deg C, the "a/c" stops, but the fan keeps blowing...

now the air coming out from the vent is ambient temperature and moist/humid (since the a/c is off)...

so what is it that removes the moisture component from the air..

additional question : can a home central a/c be tweaked in such a way, that when the a/c cools the room to the desired temperature, it stops cooling the room further, however the air it blows out is no more moist/humid?

  • Does processed cheese get spoiled in fridge?

I shred processed cheese and store it in my fridge [not freezer]...

After few weeks, [less than a month], the cheese looks sticky and melted, although it is stored inside the fridge.

    Has the cheese gone bad?

If yes, what can be the reasons...

    This happens regularly.

On a note, my fridge works perfectly, so the fridge is not the problem here i guess.

The cheese i use is this - http://www.amul.com/products/amul-processedcheese-...

It says - 'Do not deep freeze.'

  • The pressure rating of a pressure regulator is absolute or gauge?

Suppose a pressure regulator has a rating "4 bar pressure regulator" - For gas purposes.

In general terminology, can this be interpreted as 4 bar absolute pressure, or 4 bar gauge pressure (4 + 1 = 5 bar absolute)?

  • Maintain constant flow rate using constant pressure drop?

My book says that liquid flow can be kept constant by maintaining a constant pressure drop across the valve and at a constant valve area. And the flow rate can be changed by changing the valve area (increase area to increase the flow and vice versa) whilst having constant pressure drop as before.

Any equations that can prove this or relates to the above explanation?

  • Difference between differential pressure regulator and differential backpressure regulator?

I need to maintain constant differential pressure (dP) - "Across a valve" for my application.

I came across these three terms..

"Pressure Reducing, High Pressure Differential Regulator (95HD)"

    "High Pressure Backpressure Regulator (98H)"

"High Pressure Differential Backpressure Regulator (98HD)".

  • Metering Valve help to control liquid flow rate?

I need some help with designing a metering valve.

I have to buy a metering valve for a project to control the flow rate of a liquid in a pipe.

This is the basic method to control the flow rate

A device that helps carry out - "Fixing constant pressure drop across metering valve, whilst varying the valve to change flow rate (opening/closing valve to change flow rate)".

This would require a pressure regulator to maintain a constant pressure drop (if im not mistaken)

But there is an additional condition which i have to meet....

There can be excessive pressure from the pump, so i need a pressure relief valve...

Also there can be increase in backpressure..

so a pressure regulator is required to maintain a constant pressure drop i guess..

Guys i tried search but im very confused with these terms...

so if anyone could PLEASE PLEASE help me out with these terms and tell me what all valves/regulators i need

    or

give me links to readymade products that do the entire job, or links to seprate products that do the job in combination

    it would be GREATLY appreaciated.

If u dont understand my question, post a comment and i will add additional information asap.
