I just had a baby boy in the middle of August 2009. I'm an Atheist Pagan. Married to a Pagan. I'm from Pagan parents and Christian grandparents. I have a kitty. I love melons. My favorite animals are giraffes, foxes, and wolves. My favorite colors are yellow and blue. I cut my own hair. I love Pop-Tarts (cinnamon buns kind are the best). I enjoy cartoonized crabs. My other interests are: Human genetics, quantum physics, psychology, finance, politics, religion & philosophy, Einstein's theories (relativity and other physics of the Universe), cosmology (NOT cosmetology)... And for the fluffier interests: Parenting, dance, fashion, computers, health & fitness, music & poetry. I'm chaotic - A little bit volatile and a little bit humble. Electronically, I own 3 computers. (2 are laptops.) My favorite bands of the moment are Otep, Seether, and Kittie. Hope this was sufficient.
Always having dreams about dangerous stairs/escalators?
One of my most disturbing types of dreams is about dangerous stairs (usually) but I have dreamt of escalators too. One example was that I was in a large, tall building that was a lot like a High School and a lot of people I knew from school were there too... and there was some sort of danger so we all had to go all the way up to the top of the stairs... It was okay at first and then the stairs start to get weird... The railings go away as we get higher, the stairs get higher and farther apart... and then all the way at the top, I have to like jump over this crevice between the stairs and the room which is like 10 stories I have below me.
I seem to dream about buildings like that a lot, and sometimes the stairs aren't dangerous, but just confusing.. Like I'll have to get to a certain room, but I can't just go straight down the stairs.. I have to go down one flight and wander around and find a different staircase and go upstairs like it's a huge maze.
I just hate the stair dreams though because most of the time is spent crawling up the stairs in fear like 10 stories high losing my balance with no railings...
I had a dream about an escalator last night... the escalator was also really high and had no railings. In the middle it sort of almost intersected another escalator so I had to lay down or else I would die by getting squished between the stairs of the two escalators...
The first dream I ever remember having with this theme I was going down the stairs to my grandparents' basement and they suddenly got wheels and a motor and disconnected and started rolling around the basement really fast.
I think I should mention that in the real world, I am not afraid of heights and I do not go up a lot of stairs on a regular basis. I have 2 sets in my house and I only use 1 regularly but have never dreamt of those stairs.
What would be causing these dreams?
5 AnswersDream Interpretation1 decade agoHow do I know what career I should pursue?
I want a relatively high-paying career that I will enjoy (don't we all!). I feel like I should tell you a little about myself for better answers... I tried asking my friends and family what they thought I should do and I got a lot of bad answers.
The most interesting one to me was something like a "loan agent" for a bank. I was wondering what my strengths would have to be for a position like that and what my salary might look like. (I'm aiming for upwards of $90,000 per year since the area I want to live in is very affluent and the cost of living is extremely high there.)
I don't want to go into a field relating to law or medicine because those fields just don't interest me.
My biggest interests are in computers, science, and mathematics... although that doesn't necessarily mean I'm GOOD at them.
I'm good at writing, I can speak a second language, and I tend to think very logically (like a computer if that makes sense).
I can go to a University and that's no problem. Right now I'm 20 years old and I have a 4 month old son and I'm really still trying to find out what I want to do. Even if there is some sort of career placement test anyone knows of that I can take for free just to get an idea.... I can go to a University but I have to make a decision relatively soon before I lose that opportunity. Any help?
4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoHuge mistake in the magnetic rock scene in "journey to the center of the earth"?
I was watching this movie with my in-laws and when I saw this scene where the boy encounters magnetic rocks floating over a chasm and decides to jump from rock to rock it was already obviously impossible but given the theme of the movie, I let it go..
I figured the movie was assuming that the bottom of the chasm had an incredibly strong magnetic charge that was repelling that of the bottom of the rocks... which would have to have the same charge... Somehow unaffected by all the shaking and wobbling caused by a boy jumping on them... A long shot, but for entertainment purposes, okay I guess.
But then I saw the rock the boy was on actually FLIP OVER... and then back around. The rock Should have snapped him immediately to the bottom of the chasm because it would have HAD to have been the opposite charge as the bottom of the chasm.
I called bull$hit and my mother in law came up with SOME explanation for how it could happen, but it's completely impossible, right? In magnetism, ALL of the particles in the object are arranged so that one side is always negative and one side is always positive... The way she was saying it was that the entire rock and all sides of it could hold just one charge.

1 AnswerEarth Sciences & Geology1 decade agoSevere menstrual pain: I don't think it's normal (long story)?
I'm 20 years old, I started my period at 9, and initially had pretty bad back/side cramps. At about 15, I started having difficult periods. I would feel really sick and bloated, which I figured was normal. It would only last for the first couple of hours of my period and then I would feel normal again... At about 17, I started having heart palpitations right before my period, but other than that I was pretty good. I got married at 18 and we started trying to conceive. The first month we were married, I started having bowel problems (constipation, diarrhea, pain, bloody stool), painful intercourse, and painful menstrual cramps. I got pregnant within 3 months and then miscarried. After, I started having worsening cramps, They would get worse and worse every month. So bad that all I wanted to do was lay down. It felt like severe gas or diarrhea pains. 6 months after my first miscarriage, I got pregnant again and had a second miscarriage. Still no answers. Doctors seemed to think it normal to have 2 miscarriages before the age of 20. At 19, only a month after my second miscarriage I got pregnant once again. 9 months later, August 2009, I had my son. In October, my period resumed with barely any problems... no real cramps... I had some depression, mood swings, but things were good. My next period (now the beggining of December) has been pure hell. I have this horrible cramping which is definitely worsened by gas, but it's not from intestinal gas in itself. I couldn't walk up the stairs to the bathroom. I crawled up them. This pain was worse than labor pain, and I had my baby without any pain meds. I couldn't urinate on the toilet. For some reason having my bottom "hanging" over anything made it feel like all of my insides were ripping, burning, tearing, stabbing, and like they were going to just fall right out. I had to urinate sitting in the tub, which is just disgusting. It took me 20 minutes to come down the stairs because I couldn't walk and I had to sit on my bottom and go one stair at a time... and that was torture too because of that problem with my bottom "hanging" in the air being unsupported caused more pain. I couldn't have a bowel movement until the 2nd day of my period and even then I was howling an clutching at anything I could find because of pain in my lower stomach. Now on the 3rd day, the cramps are mostly gone, but when I have gas movement in my intestines, I have sharp stabbing pains that bring me to tears. It feels like I'm going to explode. If I press on my abdomen I have some tenderness, but other than that I'm pretty good.. at least better than I was. I'm just wondering how this can possibly be normal. What is wrong with me and why do I keep getting told that it's normal? The only diagnosis I've gotten from these symptoms was OCD! I have cramps, not OCD! I refused to even go to those appointments because I thought it was ridiculous.
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoDoes a change in the way I write my name (not spelling) require a name change?
Okay, my last name is French, and I would like to return it to it's French origin.
I would spell it the same, just put an apostrophe in it.
Examples:
L'avigne instead of Lavigne.
O'rion instead or Orion.
L'abadie instead of Labadie.
I was wondering if this would require a legal name change, and also how would it be written on credit cards and such with the apostrophe?
2 AnswersGenealogy1 decade agoDo Special Forces or Black ops units allow taking pictures of their units?
I know there is differences between Special Forces and "black ops" but I was wondering if either one would ever take pictures of their units like other military units do; ex: cavalry, infantry soldiers, etc usually have a picture somewhere of their unit together overseas.
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoIs a weight loss goal of 50 lbs in one year unrealistic?
I'm a 20 year old 5'1" female weighing about 180 lbs which would put my BMI at 34.
My 1 year goal is to lose 50 lbs which would put me at 130 and a BMI of about 25 (which is still slightly overweight, I know). My ULTIMATE goal is actually 113.
I'm planning on doing this with exercise (crunches, leg lifts, power yoga, walking) and diet. I'm cutting calories to about 1300 now, and after the holidays, I'm going to start a vegetarian diet because it's harder to find foods with a lot of fat that are vegetarian. My major reason is that my family is always wanting to eat at McDonald's and similar places, and the only thing that I will get there as a vegetarian will be the fruit & walnut salad.
So; is 50 lbs in one year an unrealistic goal? Do you think I should be able to be successful with my diet & exercise? Any tips or advice?
15 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoHow to redirect a certain entered URL to a different site?
I found instructions once, about 2 years ago of how to make a URL that you enter into your browser redirect to a different website.
For example, if a person entered www.yahoo.com into the firefox address bar, it would redirect to www.google.com automatically. All I remember is that it involved editing a text document and putting in the sites' IP addresses and URLs. I don't remember which document that was or exactly how to type it out. Does anyone know? I'm having a problem that someone keeps going to a certain pornography site on my computer and I keep getting viruses, so I want to play a passive aggressive prank on them. ;-)
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoAdvice dealing with psycho in-laws?
I'm 9 months pregnant and I really don't want my husband's mother or stepmother anywhere near our baby. His mother demanded that I give her money from our savings account for the baby, and when I denied, she called yelling at him to kick me out on the street (I was 8 months pregnant.) Also she keeps telling him to get a paternity test and to take all our baby's money and just leave me (she wants him to live with her so she can spend all of his money on partying and shopping sprees). I don't want her anywhere near me. If I could have security beat her to death upon trying to enter the hospital while I labor, I would arrange that.
His stepmother isn't much better. The first time I met her, she was fine. The second time, she screamed at me as soon as I entered the door.. yelling about how I was possessed and threatened to call the police to have me removed. After that incident, I was told that she is an alcoholic, is on anti psychotic medication and often yells and screams about her delusions while no one is around.
For some reason, my husband completely trusts these women. I'm afraid that they'd physically harm my child... or that his mother would kidnap the baby for ransom or something... It's that bad. Does anyone have any advice? Am I wrong in feeling this way? Is there any way I can ban them from being there at the hospital? :-(
9 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWhen do humans get their souls?
This question is for anyone who believes in souls.
If you don't believe, there is no point in answering, but you are free to.
I don't have a belief in souls or against them either way.
But here's you go:
When a human baby is born, does their soul come into their body instantly? Does it take a few days? Was it there from conception?
If reincarnation exists, and one has had a past life and has memories of it, wouldn't being crammed into a womb with restricted movement be mental torture? That would drive me mad if I were conscious of it.
For religions that believe that baptism is necessary to go to Heaven:
If a baby is baptized at birth, but hasn't gotten their soul yet, does it do any good? How can you save a soul if it is not yet there?
Contrarily, if the soul is present at conception, should baptisms be performed shortly after conception because of the chance of miscarriage?
What are your thoughts?

13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSatan will try to mislead us and make us follow him, right?
so is it really so strange to believe that the Bible was written by Satan?
Wouldn't this explain why God seems so angry, vengeful, and jealous in the Bible when He is supposed to be a God of pure and unconditional love? Is Satan just trying to be sneaky and mislead us? This would be the perfect way to do so, don't you think?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoquestion about cat poop?
Sometimes my cat's poop is shaped like little marbles. Does this mean she is constipated?
If she is, how can I help her? I give her plenty of fresh water. How could I get her to drink more water?
Would giving her moist food more often help? Or would it hurt?

I'm trying to find what haircuts would best suit my face, but I think it would be helpful to know the "shape"

Second pic: http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/4/l_e6...
Third pic: http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/51/l_0...
All were taken about a year apart (in chronological order), with 3 different hairstyles/colors and expressions. ( I change myself a lot.)
So I'd like to hear your opinions of my face shape and which haircuts and styles would look best on me.

2 AnswersJapan1 decade agoWhere do the numbers come from?
physics has all these mathematical equations.. that describe everything from gravity to the strong and weak forces inside some of the smallest particles (that we know of).
So where do the numbers come from?
Did Einstein just pull the values out of his ***?
Are they some kind of ratio? Because they can't possibly measure anything.. I mean gravity applies to all planets.. no matter how big they are. You can't measure Earth in feet and apply that to how the moon's gravity works unless you use a ratio, right?
How do physicists come up with these monster equations that they balance out? What do the numbers mean and where are they from?
Thank you for your time and effort.
3 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoModerate bleeding around 8 weeks?
I've been having a bit of spotting for the past 3 weeks or so. It would come and go. About a week after it started I went to the ER and everything was normal they found a heartbeat and measured the baby around 6.5 weeks.
A couple of days ago it got heavier and then it stops and then starts again. It's not as much as menstrual bleeding but more than I would expect with being pregnant. Also the same day the bleeding increased I got a symptom I always get right before and during my period: heart palpitations.
So I am sort of confused now because of the PMS but the pregnancy symptoms are still there.
I'm not cramping. A bit of tenderness sometimes but that happened right before we saw the heartbeat too and everything was fine?
Has this happened to anyone else?
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWhat do I need to prepare for a new baby?
I'm pregnant and I need a list of things I'll need to buy for the baby before it's born (such as a crib, carseat, etc), and some expenses I'll have after the birth (babysitters, food, new toys)
Up to about a year and a half.
I plan on breastfeeding for the first 5 months or so if everything goes well.
I'll find the prices on my own, I just need a realistic list of expenses as this is our first baby.
Thank you.
