Why is my cat sneezing?
My cat started sneezing the other day. She is not showing any other signs of being sick. Any thoughts on what it might be before I take her to the vet? Thank you.
3 AnswersCats9 years agoIf one cat has a urinary tract infection, does that mean they both do?
One of our 2 cats started peeing in the basement. We took the one to the vet that we thought it was (based on her doing this before and having a UTI) and it turned out that she does not have a UTI. The cats share the litter box. If the second cat has a UTI, does that mean the first cat would have too? Or can one cat have it and the other not? Thank You!
4 AnswersCats9 years agoDo you use generic flea medicine?
I use Frontline Plus on my dog but I was researching flea medicines online. They all seem to have the same ingredients. The one I was looking at buying is Fiproguard. Anyone use generic flea medicines? Do they work?
3 AnswersDogs9 years agoIs DrsFosterSmith.com a reliable place to buy pet supplies?
I am looking to buy flea medicine for my dog and was wondering how reliable and secure this company is. I think I remember my vet mentioning them but that was a few years ago. Thank you for your opinions.
9 AnswersDogs9 years agoWhat is wrong with my air conditioning unit?
I live in a one story ranch house (with a finished basement), and we have our air running. The temperature outside is 86 degrees, our house is sitting at 74 degrees and the system is set at 70 degrees. Needless to say, the system is pretty much running all the time. Is it possible that the unit is too small for the house? Or could there be some other issue with it? Is it not possible for the unit to cool the house to 70? I do not want to call an air conditioning guy without educating myself on this beforehand. Thank you so much for your help.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs10 years agoWhat is the recovery time on a dog's double knee surgery?
My dog had a tore cruciate ligament in both back legs. On October 15th, she had surgery on both legs. It has been about 3 months and her activity levels are going back up. She isn't limping but she doesn't really put a lot of weight on her right back leg and she doesn't stand for long at all (maybe like 10 seconds or so). The weight bearing on the right back leg does seem to be improving, but I am not sure if she should still be feeling pain.
We took her in for her 6 week check up and the vet said that her right back leg was showing a slight drawer in the knee but they said to wait a month and see if it got worse. They are hoping that when her scar tissue forms it will help tighten the knee and get rid of that drawer. If not, they would have to go back in. Has anyone heard of this working before?
I thought I read somewhere that full recovery can take up to 6 months. Should I just be patient and wait until April? Am I being too worried about this? Please anyone with experience please help. Your responses are greatly appreciated.
Kayce is an Australian Shepherd/Dachshund mix (body style is Australian Shepherd), about 55 pounds and 3.5 years old.
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDoes anyone have experience with dog ligament tears?
My 3.5 year old dog had both back legs operated on in the middle of October for torn ligaments in the knees. She started not putting her right leg down today. Is this normal? Also, I am supposed to walk her to strengthen her muscles but it is icy and snowing. Any suggestions on indoor exercises? I don't know what to expect with this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat should I expect with a dog recovering from surgery?
My 3 1/2 year old dog just had double knee surgery on her back legs. She had a torn cruciate ligament in both back knees. She just had it on Wednesday and she is already trying to stand up on her own and walk around on her own. She also is panting like she is hot; however I am cold. I don't want to turn on the heat and make her uncomfortable but my pregnant sister is visiting so I don't want the house to be too cold. Any experience would be greatly appreciated.
3 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow can I tell if my dog is limping because of hip dysplasia or a muscle tear?
My dog is 3 years old and she has been limping on and off for a few months. When she first started the vet said she probably just pulled a muscle. I took her back last month and did x-rays. The vet said that she has slightly shallow hip joint sockets so that reflects a mild case of hip dysplasia. We have been giving her the glucosamine and the pain medications but she is still limping after activity. My friend said the same thing happened with her dog and in the end they came to find out that it was actually a torn muscle that was causing all the pain. How can we find out for sure? Any help is greatly appreciated...I hate knowing that she is hurting and not being able to do much about it!!!
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat is this weed in my backyard?
There is this weed growing in my backyard that is a vine. It has green leaves and it smells bad. My fiance says it smells like onions, but I can't quit place what I think it smells like. All I know is it smells bad and I think I am getting allergic reactions from it (itchy eyes, runny nose, etc) and I don't really have "allergies". Can anyone help me identify this? Thank You.
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoWhat do you think of my bridesmaid gift idea?
I am getting married and I am having a really hard time finding bridesmaid gifts. Nothing seems good enough or nice enough. I found personalizable aprons and grocery bags. I thought that would be cute since all my bridesmaids cook/bake. I was thinking of doing like a cooking/baking theme with heart shaped measuring cups and such. Please let me know what you think of that and if you have any other suggestions on gifts!!! It will be greatly appreciated.
13 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoI am ready for engagement, but he says he isn't...what can I do?
We are both 27 and we have been dating for 4 years. We have a house together and three pets. We both have full-time jobs. He says that he "isn't ready" because he doesn't fell financially ready. He is in a good job but it is not the job he ultimately wants to have. Honestly, I think the financial excuse is bogus because things will never be great financially.
I really want us to get married and can't stop thinking about it. It makes me sad, and even feeling depressed, at times. I don't know what to do. I don't want to push him into it, but I also don't want to be unhappy all the time. Thanks for the advice!
23 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhy does my dog lick my head when I lay it down?
I have a 2 year old dachschund/australian shepherd and every since we got her she has done this. If I, or my boyfriend, lay our heads down next to her she pushes her nose under our heads and starts licking our faces. Its actually pretty funny but I was wondering if anyone else's dog does this and if anyone knew why. Thanks.
2 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhere can I find a teddy bear pillowcase?
My boyfriend has this old pillow case that has one teddy bear on it. Its old and faded and he will not let it go. So I would like to put it in a memory box and get him a new one that is the same but a search online isn't helping. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoIs it just me, or should some people just not own pets?
I know that I probably am going to sound like a witch with a capital B...but I just don't understand. Why do people go to Yahoo Answers to ask questions that should be taken to a vet? Why do these people own animals? If you do not have enough common sense to take the animal to a vet, or if you cannot afford to get them proper treatment, then you should not own a pet!!! It is aggravating to know that while someone is sitting on their butt waiting for a response, their animal is sitting in the house, by themselves, in pain. When that animal should be sitting in a car, on the way to the vets, in pain so they can feel better. Oh...and while I am ranting...why do people blame their dogs for things that is their fault? "Please help me...my dog is 2 years old and chews up my house!" When instead they should say "Please help me...I was lazy and never trained my dog properly and he is chewing up my house!" Come on people!!! Get some common sense!!!
14 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCan I use "people lotion" on my dog's paws?
I have noticed that her paw pads are dry and cracked. She does not seem to be in any discomfort, and does not wince/whine when I check her paws. But they feel dry and I know that can lead to painful cracking. Can I just use my lotion on her paws once every few days to help keep them from overdrying?
12 AnswersDogs1 decade agoDoes anyone have a link to this funny video?
I saw a video a while ago, I think on youtube, where a guy is sleeping in the car and his friends decide to scare him. He is holding a burger and when they scream, he wakes up yelling and squeezes his burger into pieces. Does anyone know where I can find this video? Thanks.
2 AnswersMovies1 decade agoShould I get her dew claws removed?
I know there have been numerous questions regarding dew claws, however, I am still undecided about getting my dog's removed. She is about 50 pounds (dachshund/australian shepherd mix) and 18 months old. She chews on her dew claws every day for as long as I can remember. Tonight she was running around my sister's house with my brother-in-law and her dew claw got caught on the rug. It broke far down on her and she is whining and walking gently on that leg. When I went to look at it, she licked it and yipped. I don't want her to be in pain but I also am not too keen on surgery. I want to make the right decision so any advice would be greatly appreciated. (BTW, I plan on taking her to the vet tomorrow to check on it.)
4 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhy does it seem like my puppy is having bad dreams?
This morning my 17 month old puppy jumped into bed and tried to shove her head under mine. I picked up my head and she squeezed herself completely onto my pillow with her head pressed against my face. So I started petting her head and comforting her. She looked very tired and was yawning. It was just like she had a bad dream. As I pet her she was falling asleep but if I stopped she woke up and pressed her head against me again.
I have had her since she was 8 weeks old and she was born in the no-kill shelter that I got her from. She has never been abused or been through anything terrible or mean. I read that dogs dreams are just replays of memories, so how could she have a bad dream?
9 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHave you ever seen a cat eat dog food?
I am curious if anyone else's cat has done this. I know dog's eat cat food but I have never heard of a cat eating dog food. I was refilling my dog food container and a couple pieces fell on the kitchen floor. When I went to pick them up my cat was sniffing one. So I watched and she ate it! This isn't the first time I have seen her eat a piece of dog food. I am just curious to find out exactly how weird my cat is! LOL
