  • Is this Child Endangerment/Abuse, and should DHS be contacted?

Ex-husband's girlfriend had her 8 year old child at a party, and two people told me she was drinking beer all afternoon long. When she went to leave, with her child in the backseat, after drinking all day, she hit another car while she was backing up. She begged the other person not to report it, because she doesn't have any insurance. (I know...wow, right!?!) The other person called the police, but she had left the scene of the accident by then. Driving drunk with a child in the backseat.... should this be reported to DHS? This is someone who has access to my child, and I fear that she may be doing the same thing with my kid on the weekends my ex has her.

    Additional Details

I feel the need to clarify a few things: 1) I did not witness her drinking beer, but I did pick up my child from the party earlier and EVERYONE was drinking lots and lots of beer. I have since had two separate people tell me that she was drinking all afternoon, though.

    2) I have no control over the fact that this woman is in my child's life. This is who my Ex has decided he wants to live with, so there is nothing I can do about that---I can't prevent her from being around my child.

  • Should I do a hysterectomy?

I have Adenomyosis (endometriosis that has entered my uterine walls: heavy bleeding, lots of clots, VERY painful periods). Last month I had an ovarian cyst rupture that caused ALOT of pain. My doc has said only cure for adenomyosis is birth control pills, which I am not willing to go on because I had a friend die from a blood clot caused by birth control pills.....or a hysterectomy. He can also remove my ovaries at the same time to prevent me from having future cysts rupture. Just wondered if anyone has had the same issues, and what you've done to fix the situation. If I do the ovaries too, then I'll have to do hormone therapy for the next 12 or so years until I'm 50.

  • I just found out my daughter's friend's dad is a registered sex offender. Can he come to the elem school?

Can he come to the school for ANY reason, like to pick up his daughter or to come to Parent/Teacher conferences? My daughter is in kindergarten and I've never met the child nor her family. I'm just worried that somehow he'll be able to come into contact with my daughter (or the rest of the kids in her class, for that matter.) This is in Iowa, if it makes a difference.

  • Sister being abused by live-in. Has child. Keeps taking him back. What should I do?

Sick of her going to the hospital, getting restraining orders, and then taking him back. In my opinion, she's an idiot for taking him back. He's never going to change. Should I quit speaking to her, until she kicks him to the curb for good, or what? I love her and that's why I don't want to see her continue doing something that gets her hurt, and at some point, I'm worried he'll do worse than give her a few bruises. Or he'll start hurting the baby. Advice please! It's so hard to be supportive.

  • Need help. Fish died in less than 12 hours of us getting them.?

Santa brought us a really small 1.5 gallon tank with a filter and air pump. We set it up Christmas day, with the water tablets to get it ready for the fish. We bought 2 neon fish at the store, and immediately dropped them into the tank when we brought them home. They didn't survive.

Without being mean to us and calling us fish-killers....anyone have some advice for what we did wrong?

The tank is only 1.5 gallons, so it doesn't have a heater. Also, I wonder if it could have been some sort of shock from putting them directly into our tank from the bag from the store. Please help. My 5 year old daughter is going to want to buy more fish tomorrow, but I want to make sure we don't kill anymore fish.

Please be nice if you are going to respond...I already feel bad about them dying. Thanks!

  • Fight back or tell the teacher?

My daughter is in kindergarten. A girl in pre-K is beating up on my daughter. Pushing her down, pulled her pants down, and today punched her in her side. I've told the teacher, and since I've had that chat, 2 more incidents have occurred. I plan on speaking with the principal tomorrow, and have told my daughter to stay away from her.

My husband and I do not agree on what to tell her to do if the little girl keeps doing stuff to her. My husband says to fight back. Punch her back if she hits my daughter. Etc. I say that will get my daugher in trouble, and have told her to run and tell the teacher.

I understand that this little girl is a bully, and bullies only back down if someone stands up to them, but I also don't want to see my daughter get into trouble for fighting.

What would you tell her to do?

  • Advice on getting my kindergartner to behave better at school?

Doesn't want to come in from recess. Teachers have to go over to her and pull her back inside. Today she yelled at the teacher, and stomped her feet alot.

The teacher is: giving her time outs, and next week my daughter is going to have to come in earlier than the other children from recess as punishment (and a "look how much fun you could be having, if you only behaved").

We are: talking with her, practicing coming in right away when she hears the whistle, doing a sticker chart for good behavior, and not letting her watch TV if she has a bad report from school. (She only gets 1/2 hour of TV anyway). We've also had her grandpa, whom she ADORES, talk to her and tell her he's disappointed that she's not behaving better.

Any other ideas? Just looking for other suggestions. Thanks!

  • When you "remove a connection" (delete a friend) on facebook, are they informed when you delete them?

Do they receive an email or does something go on their facebook wall saying I've removed them from my friends list?

  • My mom is mad at me. Should I apologize, or wait til she gets over it?

I'm 40. Mom is 65. She's been like this ever since I was born. It was her upbringing. Mom was abused by her dad, so she's quick to get mad, stays mad FOREVER, and is bossy and overbearing.

Anyway, I've been trying to have another child (I have one already). I've had several losses. It's to the point where we will have to start spending a lot of money on fertility meds, or we give up. I have mild diabetes, and am overweight, but my docs are not concerned about this since my blood sugars are under control. Anyway, my mom doesn't want me to have any more children. She has said, "It is an unacceptable situation that I am continuing to try to have children". I told her that I want my daughter to be able to have a sibling, but she starts talking about how much it costs to raise a child, that I'm too heavy to have another child, that I shouldn't be spending money to try to get pregnant, etc. We lost one baby due to birth defects, and she has said that it's unacceptable to put her in the situation again of seeing me sad if I lose another child. EVERYTIME we have a conversation about what is going on with me and my fertility, she brings this up. I'm sick and tired of it, and I guess this last conversation, I said something to the effect of, "you always try to bully me into your way of thinking". She hasn't spoken to me since.

She used to call me once or twice a day, just to talk, since we're friends, but she hasn't called since that conversation. I'm so tired of this....having to say the right thing, or else she gets mad. She can never be wrong. And, whenever she gets mad, she brings up things where she has helped us in the past....such as, "you remember, 5 years ago, when you needed help buying groceries that month...and this is how you treat me?"

So, do I suck it up and apologize? Or let it go until she is ready to make the first move, or what? She hasn't even called to talk to her granddaughter, and my little girl is asking about why she hasn't seen grandma.

  • BBT chart: I think it looks like I ovulated. Fertility friend doesn't agree. What do you think?

I had a blood test on cd 23, I believe, and an ultrasound on cd27 or so, and it showed I didn't ovulate yet. I tried entering my info into fertility ties, just for giggles, and they say I ovulated on cd18, which we know I didn't from the blood test and ultrasound.

However, just as I was getting ready to start provera to jumpstart my period...my temp goes up looking like I might have ovulated. What do you think?

  • How to keep my wall clean? Stove is next to the wall---grease splatters!?

My stove is right next to my wall. The previous owners used a flat paint which just seems to absorb the grease that splatters. It doesn't help that the paint is white. How can I keep the wall clean?

    I've considered:

    1) painting with some other type of paint (satin? semi-gloss? ????) which is washable (the problem here is that it is an old house with some imperfections in the wall, so would the shinier paint highlight those?)

    2) putting up a (fake) brick panel, like we have as a backsplash....but if we do that, do we have to do the whole wall or just a section near the stove...and would that look stupid just to do a section? If we do the whole wall, would that look stupid when it meets the corner?

    3) ????? other options ??????

Please help! I may not be the best housekeeper, but I would like my house to work with me, instead of against me! :)

    Thanks!

  • Took Femara (pill similar to Clomid). Didn't ovulate. Still no period. What now?

I have ovulated before on Femara. I've also had anovulatory (natural) cycles before, and always got a period around cd29 or 30. This time around, I did not ovulate on Femara---they checked me out with an ultrasound on cd23 and no dominant follicles. I'm now on cd37, and still no period. I've been having cramps in the ovary areas since cd13 or so.

Anyone have this happen? (fertility meds didn't make you O, but AF didn't show up either) When did you finally get your period?

  • Looking for success or failure stories of clomid/femara + injectables + IUI? Any stories welcome!?

Looking for either success or failure stories of clomid (or Femara) + injectables (FSH and HCG trigger) + IUI?

Considering one, maybe two cycles IF we can scrape together the money. Want to know if they work...or if they don't.

Please respond if you or anyone you know have tried this method, and let me know if it worked and if so...how many cycles.

I asked this last night, but only got one response (I guess I'm a later night owl than some of you lol) :)

    Thanks!

  • Have any of you had a relative/friend who wasn't a mom talk bad about your parenting style, then become a mom?

And now they know that kids don't always behave. Telling your child nicely to stop doesn't always work.....Sometimes you have to ignore their fits at the store, or drag them out of the store. Don't you just want to say, "na, na na na na na" and thumb your nose at them?!? lol
