My American Bulldog was attacked by 2 dogs off leash...killed one.?

My American Bulldog was attacked at the lake front by 2 dogs...one a Pit/Dalmation mix, the other a Pit...the Pit was leashed initially but broke away from owner, the Pit mix didn't even have a leash. The off leash dog initiated the attack and the Pit broke away from owner and jumped in. The Pit mix ran off after initial scrimmage but the Pit kept coming. I finally let go of my dog's leash to propery defend himself and he ended up killing the Pit. My AB tried to stop fighting once but the Pit would not stop.

Owner now taking 'me' to court for suffering and $$$. I am counter-sueing for my costs and assume I will win since my dog was attacked and he was on leash at time of attack (never bitten anything before). The other guy had already broken the Ontario law by not having his Pits muzzled and one without a leash.

I have a witness and my dog was checked by the city to confirm all vaccines were UTD.

I have never been involved nor witnessed a scene like this before; I feel very bad the other dog got killed but at the same time I was and still am so angry that the owner allowed this situation to occur and his dog would not back off AND I'm very glad my dog didn't get too hurt.

Anyone been in this situation and what was the end result from court?

    Thx

  • How to connect a Netbook to a TV?

I have an HP Netbook. No 'S' or 'VGA' connection on the netbook. Is there another way to connect it to a TV? There are 2 USB ports, a mic/headphone plug and another port of some sort slightly resembling a USB port but wider. My TV's have everything except a USB port.

    Anyone connect these yet? Thx.

  • Vehicle stops going up a grade with 1/4 tank of gas.?

Since my wife's Montana SV6 was in an accident this past winter causing front and rear damage; whenever she goes up a slight grade or hill with 1/4 tank or less of gas the van stops and loses power (steering included).

Anyone know what could be causing this and if it could be related to the accident?

    Thanks

  • Boxer's lip swollen from wasp sting?

My Boxer bit a wasp yesterday afternoon and now the one side of her bottom lip is swollen and hanging down. I gave her 1/2 an adult Benedryl right after and the other half at 11pm. This morning, no change. The vet said just to give her more Benedryl since there are no other signs of a reaction aside from the swelling. Anyone have any other suggestions? Or do we just wait for the swelling to go away?

  • Neighbours dog digging into my yard - I have larger dogs!?

Would anyone know in Ontario, Canada... My neighbour's Beagle keeps digging himself into my yard. the measures I have taken are not stopping it and my neighbour is not getting the potential danger his Beagle is in (due to my Boxers). I have had my door bell rang at different times of the morning asking if they can get their dog from my yard. One of these times in letting my dogs out I will find out the hard way their dog is again in my yard...

If either or both of my Boxers seriously hurt the Beagle, am I liable in any way?

  • Lawnmower - Pullcord is very hard to pull?

I am deciding on whether or not to buy a new mower.

My Craftsman (6.75hp) is 10years old - Kept in a shed and in good condition. Tuned up each year.

As of last summer the cord became very hard to pull. Not sure why this could be. Any thoughts?

  • How kids can calm an excited dog?

When my kids come home from school with their babysitter my female Boxer goes nuts. None of them can control her and the kids get scratched, etc. If my wife and I come home she never does this so we can not give that training to her.

Any ideas on what my kids can do to prevent the jumping and scratching of her paws? (They are 5 and 8 and the babysitter is only 15) They are all too small to hold her down

To add the kids do not scream or run around. They just open the crate quietly and out comes a psycho dog for 5minutes.

  • What is the deal about Iams?

I feed Royal Canin to all my dogs BUT I used to feed Iams to my previous dogs and they lived full, healthy lives. My vet still says it is good food.

Why are so many people down on Iams the last couple of years? I just do not get it!

  • Get Boxers to stop being aggressive?

Okay... 2 weeks ago walking my Boxers (on leashes) I came across a woman walking a Boston Terrier and a Whippet OFF LEASH. Both dogs came at mine. I kept pulling mine back and hers kept coming in. My male took about 4 bites from the Whippet and 1 from the Boston when he finally lunged hard enough that I coudn't hold him back since I was also trying to hold back my female. My male grabbed and luckily only threw the Whippet in the air. He then lunged at the Boston but the Boston moved just in time and then ran back to her owner.

Once the woman got her dogs under control she of course said her dogs had never behaved that way before!! Likely story. And like a typical man, I told her the next time I will drop the leashes and let my dogs have hers for lunch. I know...it wasn't a smart thing to say.

BUT now, any dog that comes near my Boxers, their fur stands up, they growl and appear wanting to fight, even with dogs they had gotten along with before. Prior to this they didn't care about other dogs.

My vet thinks due to the breed I may have my hands full from now on. What do some of you think? DO you think they will get over it soon or do I now need to carefully try to re-socialize them with dogs? We also have a Shih Tzu, thank fully the Boxers are not aggressive with him or people.

  • Boxer owners! Would you ever want a different breed after owning a Boxer?

Since childhood I have had a GSD, Wolf/Akita, Samoyed, Malamute, Chows and now Boxers.

I have always liked getting a different breed. Now that I have Boxers, I don't see myself ever having another breed. My vet said that would likely happen.

    How about you?

  • Gas fireplace - Pilot is on, electricity is going to it but not getting the flames?

The pilot is working (we see the small flame) and it appears the electricity is going to it... if we leave it on for a day it will eventually flame. Otherwise the flames do not rise when we turn it on.

Has anyone experienced this and figured out the cause?

  • Pit Bull owners: I am curious as to what made you decide to get one.?

Why a Pitbull versus a Boxer, Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier or any other medium size dog.

Please no responses such as "I liked it's look". A Boxer looks nice too but you didn't get one. A Staffordshire looks a lot like a Pitbull but again you chose a Pitbull. Why?
