  • Is it safe to eat chestnuts I've collected myself?

Obviously I'd make 100% sure they were chestnuts rather than conkers, and would only use ones whose shells were in tact when I picked them up. But if I going squirrelling off down the woods, is it safe to come back with a bunch of tasty little brown fellas to roast and eat?

  • Is there a way to tell whether a car has been declared off the road in the UK?

Does anyone know whether there is a database to check whether a SORN has been filed for a car, or anything like that? Thanks.

  • Why has my rabbit suddenly become all affectionate?

My bunny has always been quite independent and not too fussed with cuddles and strokes, and suddenly over the last couple of days he has become really affectionate. He is very keen on food, and gets very excited when the food arrives, but yesterday morning he sat with me for a cuddle before eating his breakfast, and at bedtime he wouldn't let my husband take his food bowl for tea until he'd had a good stroke. This morning he wanted stroking for half an hour before he'd let me take his food bowl for breakfast. I'm certainly not complaining - I love giving him all of this love - it just seems rather out of character and I'm wondering whether I should be worried at all, or keeping an extra vigilant eye on him.

He's just over a year old, was castrated about 7 months ago, and has already had GI stasis twice. The vet recommended changing his diet, which we did about 3 months ago, and he has been happier, healthier and more active since. He now only eats hay and fresh greens.

  • Where can I get a traffic cone?

Long story short, we want a traffic cone to stop people parking outside our window because (a) it blocks out our light and (b) we live on a very tight T junction and cars parked there have nearly caused several accidents. We can't get white lines painted because technically we live on a private road so it's all a bit complicated and another saga, so we wanted to get a traffic cone that we can try plopping outside our window to see what happens.

Basically, where can we get hold of a traffic cone without spending a fortune or resorting to petty larceny?

    Cheers xx

  • In A Study in Pink in the BBC series Sherlock, what's the puzzle with the pills?

    **Spoiler alert**

At the end of A Study in Pink, the cab driver offers Sherlock the choice of two pills - the one near Sherlock and the one near the cabbie. Sherlock takes the one near the cabbie. Was he right? Did he pick the safe pill? Why did the cabbie defeat the first 4 victims? Is this a well-known puzzle/paradox/psychological trick?

    Thanks :)

  • If I want to get into D&D or Magic:The Gathering, where's the best place to start?

Can you recommend a book that gives a bit of background, like a beginners' guide? There are so many titles, I just don't know where to start!

  • What is the meaning of my recurring dream about my hamsters?

I keep having dreams in which I keep finding too many hamsters in the cages of my two. I keep fishing out the extra hamsters, because I only want my two girls, but I keep finding more and more. I feel like I have a responsibility to find good homes for all of the spare ones, so I try to put them in boxes to keep them safe. Sometimes I can't even tell which hamsters are mine, even though they are quite distinctive looking and I could pick them out of any line-up in real life.

Any ideas what this could mean?

  • Ideas for engraving a pocket watch wedding present?

I'm buying my husband-to-be a pocket watch as a wedding gift, and I can't decide whether I want to engrave it, and if so what to engrave it with. I've considered date, time, and date and time, but none of them feel quite right. If you were in my shoes, what would you choose?

  • How do I find a local Chinese/Asian supermarket?

I've just moved to a new area and have no idea where to find a Chinese or Asian supermarket. I've asked around but nobody seems to be sure, and I couldn't find one in the Yellow Pages. Does anyone know of a good way to find a Chinese or Asian supermarket in the UK?

And just in case anyone happens to be local, I'm near Maidstone in Kent.

  • Can you name a hymn with a familiar tune?

    ***PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING***

Earlier I was having a conversation about hymns, and I thought of two that had "familiar" tunes, that had been used for other songs, jingles etc. One was 'Mine Eyes Have Seen The Glory', but I can't remember what the other one was. Any ideas?

    Thank you xx

  • What are the bum-firming boots called?

I read a magazine article about some boots with a special-shaped sole that alters the way you walk and subsequently tones your legs and bum. I'd love to give them a go, but can't find the article or remember what they were called! Does anyone know what they are and where I can find them in the UK? Thanks xx
