  • How do you say "knowledge is the fruit of language" in the language you speak?

I'm trying to get as many different translations without using google translate, so if you speak any other languages, please leave a translation and say which language it is.

  • Where to go for navel piercing?

Shop 1: Friend 1 went there and got hers done, but didn't really say anything about it. Friend 2 came here but left upon finding it too dirty and went to shop 2. I pass by here a lot and it seems a bit shady.

Shop 2: Friend 2 said this place was really clean and professional

Shop 3: No one I know has gone here, but it has numerous great reviews

Shop 4: No one I know has gone here either, but I pass by it a lot and it seems really welcoming and the least daunting.

Which place should I go? I'm sure they're all fine, but I want to be in the most comfortable(i can't think of another word) place.

  • What color tiger paws are allowed in cheer meets?

I know that you have to wear beige for gymnastics, so I'm wondering if I'll get in trouble for wearing different colored tiger paws in a cheerleading competition. I want to get either red, black, or blue, but I'd rather just get beige if I have to.

  • How do I speak up in seminars?

I'm pretty sure I have a fear of public speaking. Whenever I'm about to talk in a seminar-like setting my heart starts to race and all that stuff. I'm all for facing my fears, so I don't really mind. However it's always hard to get a word in with certain groups of people, and I'm required to do this in a few activities I am in. If I don't give my input, I'll feel guilty for taking other peoples' spots, so I want to know how to speak up in seminars and such things. Any tips or advice?

  • Does it sound like I have tourettes?

I recently found out what tourettes really was and was surprised with what I found. Here are some things I do, does it sound like tourettes, tics, or just nothing?

My eyes flicker (like when I'm reading, or just staring off)

    Sometimes my shoulders twitch

I copy my friends hand motions (I didn't even realize I did it for awhile, I try to do it less now because it bother some of them)

I also gasp randomly sometimes (this mostly happens when I'm doing nothing but sometimes while I'm talking)

  • Do you have to be on an all-star team to get scholarships?

Someone told me you have to be in all-star cheer in order to get scholarships for college. Is this true, because I can't afford to do all-star?

  • Do you look at the conductor?

I play the violin for my high school orchestra, and our teacher always tells him to look at him. It's seems like one of a few who actually does it. Do you look at your conductor? Are you supposed to look at them for the whole piece? I'm just curious as to what others do.

  • What's the most fun play on violin?

Solo, ensemble, or full orchestra wise. I just want to know some pieces to look out for.

  • Am I bracheting right?

In a quote from Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha I added in the names Siddhartha and Vesudeva for a quote for a paper. Do I do it right?

“…neither [Siddhartha and Vesudeva] mentioned the boy’s name…” (Hesse 69).

I know this might be a stupid question, but we never learned how to in school.

  • I'm cheap. Is there hope?

It seems like whenever my friends want to do something, it cost money. I know only a few of them have jobs, so I assume they use their parents money like I do. The only thing is, unlike them, I have four brothers (ones in college) so I feel really bad asking them for money, but I also want to hang out with my friends. I tried getting a job all spring and summer, but no one would hire me. So could you suggest some cheap or free activities to do?

  • Do you think Siddhartha is an appropriate book for high schoolers to read?

For sophomore honors English our class has to read Siddhartha over the summer and analyze it. I'm pretty sure I'm not fully understanding it because, to me, it's just a weird book that I really hate. I just wanted to hear whether people believe it is a appropriate book, content wise and difficulty wise, for kids to read.

  • Please help. Is this okay for a school paper?

    Is it correct to say:

"This story is narrated by an omniscient force."

I'm doing an analysis on Siddhartha, and it's written in third person.

  • Do I have an anxiety disorder?

I recently read an article about Olivia Munn having an anxiety disorder that caused her to rip out her eyelashes, something that I do. I've always had problems socializing, and I feel like I get anxious often, so I wanted to know if I have an anxiety disorder, so that I could fix it.

I'm a sophmore in high school, I get good grades, and I'm slightly antisocial. Here are some things that I do

I feel very awkward and lonely around people unless I'm near my close friends(like I don't know how to get into conversations when they're gone). It's gotten to the point where I feel like crying.

My friends and family describe me as OCD because I feel the need to randomly run in certain patterns(I only do this at home).

Sometimes I start pacing and can't stop.

I don't like making physical contact with people. However I have gotten better with it.

Recently I've been getting nervous with things I know I can do(ex. tumbling for cheerleading).

I play with my fingers, peel off the skin, and pull out my eyelashes.

It'd be great if you could tell me whether or not you think I have a problem and how I can fix it.

  • A good chick flick for cheer?

I'm on my school's cheer leading squad, and I'm hosting a movie night, but I have no idea what normal people watch. I was thinking of watching a Bring it On movie, but we've all seen that a lot. One of my friends said to watch any chick flick, but I don't know of any good ones that haven't been seen before. So do you know of any?

  • Opinions on navel piercings?

Do they make you think certain things about the people wearing them? If so what. Do you think it's just jewelry and don't really care about them? Are they ugly or pretty or slutty?

Feel free to answer these questions or just say whatever you feel. I just want to know people's opinions.

  • Do I have to have my hair straight to dye?

I'm black and have naturally curly hair, and I was wondering if I need to straighten it when dying. I'm bleaching in highlights, and I hate straightening my hair, so please let me know if it's necessary.
