Mothballs on fence wrapped in cheesecloth?
I know that mothballs are toxic, not for outdoor use, etc. I am desperate. I have tried everything else. My neighbour's cat is damaging my siding & my cat is now destroying the inside of my house.
After spending over $260 at the vet to determine there is no medical reason for my neutered male cat to spray inside & putting him on anti-anxiety meds & trying every de-stressing remedy & blocking off as many windows I could without getting into trouble with my strata, my neighbour's cat is causing huge problems. He sprays my house & every time my cat sees him, he sprays the door or window where he can somehow smell or see that cat. I've tried every non-toxic outdoor cat repellent. I've talked to my neighbours who dont think its a big deal. They say they can't control him because he is an outdoor cat.
So Im using mothballs. I've wrapped them in cheesecloth baggies & securely fastened them to the sides of the fence posts & where I've caught the cat spraying the siding. my yard reeks of mothballs. I'm sure my neighbours wont be happy when they want to use their patio set & it reeks of mothballs.
I can't see how the cat could get poisoned but if somehow the cat managed to get sick. Have I done enough to show I've tried to make them as safe as possible?
my home is being destroyed & my siding will get wrecked. If I let my dog run rampant barking at people's houses and pissing on their homes... I wouldn't have a dog for long.
4 AnswersGarden & Landscape5 years agoIs Dawn dish soap more diluted or did they change something making it weaker?
I've been a faithful Dawn dish soap user because it worked better than the others. When my husband and I first moved in together he bought some cheap store brand it the difference was clear.
But over the last couple of years it seems like Dawn just isn't working so well anymore. Yesterday I decided to soak my greasing oven racks one at a time. Hot water, rack in and quite a bit of Dawn.... 1 hour later... almost no effect. My husband buys the Superstore brand cheap dish soap and we soak another rack to see and sure enough - less than half the soap required and grease was coming off.
Did they dilute it?
I'm going to save my money - buy the Superstore brand instead. Disappointed
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry5 years agoDog enlarged liver, soft tissue front of heart and murmur?
I'm not panicking. But I kind of feel like panicking.
My 11.5 year old, generally healthy, shih tzu/Lhasa apso developed a weird cough. He seemed to pant even when it wasn't hot. A bit lethargic (although it is hot out) and reluctant to climb the stairs sometimes. When we would.pick him up it seemed like he might be in pain near the base of his ribcage.
This morning I took him to the vet.
He has grade 3/4 heart murmur so took xrays
His liver is enlarged and there is an area of soft tissue near the front of his heart.
The xrays are being sent to a radiologist for a second opinion and/or confirmation.
He has slowed down a bit this last while. Still up for 3km morning walks at the river but definitely the last 2 weeks started to show it was getting tougher on him.
Anyone else have this with their little dog?
Could it be cancer? With his heart murmur is it risky to let him chase his ball?
2 AnswersDogs6 years agocharge Jehovah's witnesses with harassment?
I understand everyone has the right to their beliefs and speech. No problem. But can I charge my JWs with harassment?
1. I've asked politely that they do not come to my door or leave literature
2. For almost a year I had a note specifically stating I do not want JWs at my door. It worked for A while
3. They have flagged down my husband's car to give him pamphlets if they see him leaving when they are nearby
4. I've tried calling their hall and left a message with our address
Can I call the police?
Every time they come I'm trying to work and they ring the bell, my dog gets upset and especially my parrots. I have tried to hide and they peek in the side windows.
8 AnswersLaw & Ethics6 years agoDog radiates heat along back?
My 11 year old shih-tzu is definitely more stiff than his younger days but still goes for 90 minute walk along the river every morning no problem.
I've noticed over the last couple of months that he has areas along his spine that are a lot hotter. Significantly hotter and sometimes more around his hips. You can feel the heat radiate without touching.
Nose is cold. Appetite good. No skin irritation.
Arthritis?

3 AnswersMilitary7 years agoWhy can't some customers see our website? Security settings?
Some of our customers cannot see our website on their work computers. I understand it is their network security settings, but what is it about our company website that classifies it as dangerous or insecure by some network security settings?
Thanks
1 AnswerSecurity7 years agoHasten the death of a poisoned rat?
I knew my neighbours thought there were rats around and put out poison. I'd never seen any by my house and didn't really care.
Well I just found a rat. No injuries (i.e. not hurt by cat) on the driveway. It is on its side, shallow breathing. It sort of moved itself to face the sun a bit but not much.
It is suffering. I know it will die.
What is the best way to hasten its death to stop the suffering? I'm not really an expert in killing things. Excpt fruit flies. I know how to kill them.
I thought about hitting it in the head with the heavy metal tamper in my yard. I don't know. It's pretty cols outside so if it is in shock from the poison it won't last more than a day, if that.
3 AnswersRodents7 years agoSue a contractor for damage they caused 6 years later?
We had a company install in floor heating pads then slate tiling on top.
For 5 years we had no problems, worked perfectly. Then suddenly 2 stopped working. This last year the last mat has worked as they all used to.
Now as we investigate the problem it looks like they installed 110V mats onto a 240V circuit. This would, of course, burn them out. Why they would've taken so long we don't understand and we need to confirm the problem.
However, if they have been damaged because They installed the wrong mats onto the wrong voltage circuit we would have to rip up our kitchen, nook and hallway.
If we confirm that the caused the burn out became of incorrect installation can we sue them for the costs to repair them?
Thanks.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoIndustrial gas radiant heating question?
I've got a machine shop, approx 1500 Sq. ft. But high ceilings, around 30 ft high ceilings.
We have radiant gas heater along length but the problem is while it is great for heating up the area, the heat gets too concentrated up high, so the mezzanine office area gets intensely hot long before the main shop area feels comfortable.
What is the most efficient method of bringing the heat down to the shop floor?
1. Lowering the heater?
2. Using industrial fans below the heater to force heat down? (like far enough way so they don't get cooked)
Thank you
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoAre they lying? Cedar fence staining?
we had a contractor stain our western cedar new fences. we had to wait over a year because it took that long to get the contractor who built the fences to come back and repair the mess they left.
the stain contractor underestimated.stain needed, we know for sure, and insist they did 2.coats everywhere but no one witnessed two coats and by the end of our complex there are parts that look too pale and streaky to us to be two coats.
Especially where there are more knots. I know they soak in more stain but I figured a second coat would colour them at least enough they they don't look like unstained patches. is it possible the knots absorbed two coats in some areas to the point where they look unstained?
notes. fences washed (poorly) beforehand

semi.trans oil stain redwood colour
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape7 years agoColonoscopy - waiting an extra year a big deal?
so at 24 I convinced my awful GP at the time to refer me to a GI specialist even after she said I was being a hypochondriac. not kidding!
I got a referral then colonoscopy which found 3 benign cysts and 2 larger pre cancerous ones.
So was told to have a second colonoscopy check in 3 years. I did and again, cysts with only 2 smaller pre cancerous ones. I had been hoping to wait 3 or 4 years but she insisted since they grew back quickly (they were small and took 3 years but.apparently.she felt it was quick) I had to had another.colonoscopy in only 2 years.
My GP forgot to send the referral and.eventually did but the soonest appointment that gave me is almost a year after my colonoscopy is due and add wait time for the procedure would put it well over 3 years wait.
I just turned 31. Is it really a big deal to wait an extra year? none were actually cancer and never more than 5 of them. I've got no colon cancer in my family, only celiac disease and I'm the only one who is not celiac.
Should I be more persistent about getting a sooner appointment?
3 AnswersMedicine7 years agoOld tongue piercing stuck with lump of scar?
I've had my tongue pierced for about 6 years now. Healed super quickly, swelling lasted a day, zero problems.
I have almost always had the plastic barbells in. For the last 4 months I've hard the same barbell in. Something I've done many times in the past, no problems. Yesterday my tongue kind of hurt. This morning a little more.
I decided to take it and I guess I figured maybe my tongue wanted a "break"???
I could not get it out. Couldn't even move it. Eventually I pretty much had to rip it out. A LOT of force.
When I pulled it out I noticed the middle of the barbell was like wrapped with a skin coloured plug(?). I picked it off and it the plastic barbell like split almost like it had rotted.
It isn't too tender but when I press on my tongue it feels like there is a hard bump where this plug was.
No swelling. No blood. No discharge. No sign of infection. Totally fine otherwise.
Did my tongue try to absorb the barbell? Is this scarring? Should I be concerned?
I like my tongue piercing so wondering if I should do a salt water rinse then use a metal barbell with plastic balls so my tongue doesn't try to eat away at the plastic.
I haven't been able to find a similar situation about this so far.
Thanks in advance.
