Where can I watch the Ravens-Steelers game this weekend?
I'm going to be in NYC this weekend visiting my sister. She lives near Harlem. Where can I watch the Ravens-Steelers game? I can't miss the game!
3 AnswersNew York City1 decade agoHow can I speed up recovery during marathon training?
I'm training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. This is my first marathon. I'm following Hal Higdon's Novice Marathon training program. This program has me running Tues, Wed, Thurs with increasing mileage. Before this, I wouldn't run more than two consecutive days. I find Thursday's run to be harder because I've run on Tuesday and Wednesday. What can I do to make Thursday's run easier? I assume with time I'll just get into condition but is there a way to help my body adapt faster? Maybe change my diet during those three days?
Any advice would be appreciated.
1 AnswerRunning1 decade agoHow can I get my dog to stop chasing squirrels?
I have a two year old Dalmatian mix. He's very smart and has a high prey drive. He's generally well behaved and we've gone through obedience training. He walks very well on a leash except when he sees a squirrel. They drive him bananas. He used to try and chase them but I mostly broke him of that habit. Instead, I taught him to sit down and look at the squirrels. He'll do that now but it makes our morning walks take forever since he sits at the base of the tree and stares for like five minutes. Is there a way I can get him to no longer be interested in squirrels? I have the same problem with the feral cats that live in the neighborhood as well as the city rats but he's worse with the squirrels.
6 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhat gender should my second dog be?
I currently have an 18 month old Dalmatian mix. He's very social and friendly with other dogs and people. An all around good boy. I'd like to get a second dog as a playmate for him. I have a house, a job, and dog walkers who take my current boy out three times a week to the dog park. I am ready for the responsibility of a second dog. My question is what gender of dog should I get? Bandit occasionally shows some alpha tendencies at the dog park. We go every day so I think he thinks that he runs the place. Would it be better for us to get a male or female? I want to minimize any dominance issues in my household. Thanks!
10 AnswersDogs1 decade agoMy dog is coughing a lot...?
My dog was fine when we went to bed but about midnight he started coughing and hacking. It's a wet cough and sounds like someone put a fork in a garbage disposal. Other than the cough, he is fine. His nose is wet and he's active. He's eating and using the bathroom fine. We are going to the vet at 1:40 but does anyone have any clue what it might be? I'm worried about him. =(
11 AnswersDogs1 decade agoCould I have an ulcer?
I've been experiencing really bad heartburn for the last two months. In the last week or so, I've been regurgitating stomach acid (gross) almost everyday. My throat is killing me from all the acid. I've been pounding Tums but they stopped working. I took a Pepcid AC this morning and the heartburn seems better but my stomach hurts. It's like an animal is chewing it's way out of my stomach. Could I have an ulcer too?
I see the doctor on Friday morning.
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoHIIT to improve mile time?
I've been reading up on HIIT (high intensity interval training). I was wondering if this is a good way to lower my mile time? Should I combine it with hill work? Any advice would be great.
2 AnswersRunning1 decade agoBody gets used to the hormones?
I'm 26. Almost two years ago I went on Yaz to help with my PMDD. I had really bad anxiety and depression during certain points in my cycle, bad cramps, backaches, etc. Once I started on Yaz, it cleared up and I felt great.
In the last few months, I've started getting the symptoms I had before. Anxiety, water retention, cramping. It's not as bad as it was but I'm worried it will get worse. Can your body adjust to the hormone levels? Should I see my doctor about changing the prescription?
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoHealth risks involved with running a marathon?
I'm considering running the Marine Corps Marathon in DC next October. I'm already a fit person. I've run half marathons before with no problem. I don't think a year + is an unreasonable time frame to train in. I'm pretty certain I could do it but I'm wondering if the possible health risks make it worth it. I.E. torn muscles, fatigue, damage to the heart. Has anyone run one? Did they feel it was worth the effort?
5 AnswersRunning1 decade agoWhat are some good toys to keep my dog's mind occupied while I'm at work?
I have a 15 month old Dalmatian mix. He's confined to the first floor of the house while I'm at work. He never destroys anything; he's a very good boy. But, I know he gets bored. Every day he rearranges my area rugs and throw pillows. He doesn't chew them, he just puts them in a different place around the house.
What kind of of puzzle toys can I buy that will keep him occupied? They have to be kind of easy since he's not the brightest dog. Also, he loves to chew.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHow to level hardwood floors warped by water?
The water line to my fridge split and instead of seeping out under the fridge where I could see it, it went under the floor. I didn't know until the hardwood started buckling. I repaired the fridge but the floors are now warped.
They are oak and whoever laid them did not leave any room at the walls for expansion. The buckling has gone down some. The kitchen is above the cellar. I was wondering if I put a dehumidifier in the cellar, would that help dry out the sub-floor and the kitchen floor? Is there anything I can do to level my floor out?
