How to level hardwood floors warped by water?
The water line to my fridge split and instead of seeping out under the fridge where I could see it, it went under the floor. I didn't know until the hardwood started buckling. I repaired the fridge but the floors are now warped.
They are oak and whoever laid them did not leave any room at the walls for expansion. The buckling has gone down some. The kitchen is above the cellar. I was wondering if I put a dehumidifier in the cellar, would that help dry out the sub-floor and the kitchen floor? Is there anything I can do to level my floor out?

Hardwood floors are not supposed to have a space for expansion because they are acclimated to the room before installation.
Once they are warped they are warped. If it is minor warping a refinishing might make it less noticeable but the truth is they are probably junk.
A dehumidifier won't do anything to the floor but it is a good idea to try and dry the space and inhibit mold growth which you may have.
Good luck!

Its too simple to say replace the floor. I never have seen wood unwarp before but it doesn't mean it might work. You might get away with sanding it flat again, depending on the warp. also cutting away the edges to allow or the expansion.
