3 AnswersLyrics8 years agoI feel my new guy is using insincere compliments.?
We're both 27-28, and have been seeing each other for about a month. He is a very sweet guy, but he'll text me "Your great." "You're so wonderful." "You're an amazing woman."
I don't mean to come off ungreatful or cold, but I kind of feel like they are "blah" compliments.
What do I say back? Do I share my feelings that I feel they are disingenious and dry? I feel that if I did, it would need to be handled delicately. It's honestly just starting to get on my nerves. What I really want to say (or my inner child wants to say) is, "Jee, that's great you think i'm great. Great, great, great."
Thoughts?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoHow do you politely tell a guy that sending me a glitterfly kiss face, is a total turn off?
Nice guy, but when I opened the image, it brought me right back to 8th grade. Horrified might even be more suiting. I'm 27 years old (he's 28) and let's just say those types of things don't exactly do it for me anymore.
He sent it via facebook messenger. I want to let him know that I'm a little too old for a sparkly blinking kissy face. We're in the beginning state of dating (2 wks).
I want to get my point across without being rude. Any suggestions?

2 AnswersOther - Computers8 years agoFriends with benefits, first time sober, should I be worried?
One of my best guy friends and I have been hooking up on and off for about 8 years. I have never had romantic feelings for him, nor does he have any for me, but we are physically attracted to each other.
He's recently moved back home to my state for his job so I've been seeing more of him. On a serious note, I told him that I want to stop sleeping together and work on our friendship. I know it sounds corny, but the hooking up is losing it's flair. I have a few guys interested in me and Girls - we know we can get it anywhere. He's attractive so he too "can get it anywhere", for lack of a better way to put it.
We typically only 'hook-up' after we've been drinking, and the other night he came over and we drank a little wine, watched a few movies, and went to bed, nothing extreme. No hooking up.
The next morning, we were cuddling, and things really heated up and we ended up having sober sex, for the first time ever.
He is texting me now a few times a week and telling me he misses seeing me, etc. Do you think our friendship is actually getting better, or do you think he is starting to have feelings? I have a gut feeling it's the thrill of the chase because I said it was done.
I am too scared to be an adult and actually talk about this with him as of this point. One day, but not today. I need opinions.
1 AnswerSingles & Dating8 years agoStress at work trickling into my attitude...help!?
I was assigned an office manager position at work, and I can feel the stress affecting my mood at work. I'm 26 and I've worked at my office (small business) through college, so I'm very invested in the company, and I really love my job and the ppl. We're a small office but have been growing rapidly, due to recruiting. My job description is all over the place - which is fine, but the volume is coming to a point where I'm leaving e-mails and voicemails unreturned, the requests are pouring in (I won't go into details), but I work late 2-3 nights a week, answer e-mails after work, etc just so I can stay afloat. My problem is everyone I work with is so great and willing to help, but it's so unstructured everything that everything is thought of a temporary fix. I know exactly what we need to do to accomplish the job and get things running smoothly but I'm afraid to step on toes and come off like I'm inappropriately telling them how to run their business.
I'm afraid I'm stuck. How can I maintain a positive attitude throught this?
I'm a big self-help person and know I can turn this around through a little thought :)
1 AnswerMental Health9 years agoMy boss just text me...what to reply?
My boss text me thanking me for working late. What do you say? I usually don't have a problem saying you're welcome, or thanks! but i'm not sure on this one. Your Welcome seems so...wrong. I'm Happy To seems too, chumpish. I want to keep it short and sweet.
I'm thinking, "No problem. We're almost there!"
I know this is an odd question - but he's never text me thanks for working late before. It was nice! There is no funny business going on lol I'm 26 and he's 44 and happily married.
2 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships9 years agoIs this too casual for a wedding?
The wedding is for my 21 year old female cousin. It is tomorrow at 4pm at a country club and the wedding ceremony will be outside, 50% chance rain. I haven't had much time lately to shop for a dress so here is what I'm working with. I'll have some time tomorrow morning so i'm going to try for a dress then, but just in case i don't find something I like, I'm thinking of wearing these:
1) Black dress pants, with this top that I just bought and stilettos. The top's arm cuff's are tight, about 4 inches in length (long!), but the sleeves are "baggy"/loose. The waist is similar to the sleeves as it is tighter than the body of the shirt. It just looks really nice and elegant, however is that too many dark colors? And the material is cotton, sort of "sweatery." I don't want to be come off business professional, but it is dressy. Plus, it will be cool, and cooling off towards evening, which is why I was thinking pants and long sleeves.
2) My other thought is to wear this Elle summer dress I have. Actually, the dress is black too, with 3 sets of 2 parallel white lines running horizontal up the skirt of the dress, one set towards the hem of the dress (they wrap all the way around the skirt), another set midway up, and the third towards the top/upper thigh. (trying to paint a visual!) The top of the dress is a tube style, and the bottom is lose. not poofy but voluminous...ish. I will pair it with a white blazer jacket (as it will be cool) that I got from Express which is 3/4 sleeve with brass buttons. I'll probably wear black or nude heels and jazz it up with jewelry and curly hair. I have this tan woven chunky belt with a brass buckle that looks great with the dress, but I think it dresses it down too much.
What are your thoughts on these two outfits...too casual? Is black acceptable at a wedding?
Thanks in advance to everyones input!
6 AnswersFashion & Accessories9 years agoBeginner painter w. canvas, what are some good beginner ideas on what to paint?
I have various sized canvas. I'm having difficulties getting started. Anyone have any suggestions for a beginning painter? I'd like to hang it up in my room. I was thinking of doing an enlarged flower - thought that might be an easy thing to paint. 25 yr old female thx!
4 AnswersPainting9 years agoWhy do I procrastinate and wait until the last minute to do things!?
I'm constantly putting things until the very last minute. Bills, tasks at work, even going into my cell phone carrier to exchange my new phone that was faulty I put it off for 2 weeks! I know this is distructive to myself, and job, and I'm aware that I do it. How can I fix myself?
3 AnswersPsychology9 years agoIs, "Kitten" a desmasculating pet name, only used between me+him?
So, me and my (male) co-worker are having a disagreement on the pet name, "kitten." I have a friend who I have been spending a lot of time with lately. We're both sweet on each other. I was going to text him today,
Hey Kitten - your on my mind today, etc...
My co-worker said kitten was a bad choice for a nickname and said it was demasculating! (haha)
I thought it was a lil sexy and sweet lol maybe not?! Mind you - I'm not calling him kitten in front of his friends or anything. this is just in a text between me and him. My co-worker is a male so I would usually takehis advice on this one, but I actually think I'm ok on this one!
Thoughts on this? (You gotta love Yahoo Answers) :)

3 AnswersSingles & Dating9 years agoPlasma TV Question: blurry?
I got a really good deal on a 43" Samsung plasma for $489. I got it home, knowing Plasma wasn't one of the better tv's vs. LCD and LED, but it's still a lot fuzzier than I expected. I don't have and HD cable set-up, so I can't see how much of a difference that would make in the picture clarity.
Anyone have any suggestions or pointers (in settings or hook up regarding the HD Cable)? Or is it the fact that it's plasma?
2 AnswersTVs9 years agoCommuters with one hour travels to work...looking for feedback/opinions...?
I live in a fairly large city (Dodge, we'll call it) about 60 miles north of the larger metropolitan area in our state. I'm visiting my friend in the metro every weekend, and have currently moved into an unfortunate living situation back in Dodge with some new roommates and am looking to get out. I am love with the metro and am thinking about making the move down there. My friend has a house and I can rent the basement for a very reasonable price! The gas guzzling every day is not ideal, and I'm not sure how I will fare with an hour commute to and from the city every morning and night (roughly a one hour drive). I also want to say this, I have thought very long and hard about this. The thought of staying in Dodge for another weekend pains me. I’m bored with the city, I’ve lived here my whole life, and could really use a change at this point in my life. I think the experience and “quality of life” I’ll say, would outweigh the commute and cost of gas.
I'm looking for other's feedback/opinions about commuting. It's a pretty big leap to make for someone like myself who's longest commute to work has been a 20 min drive, and am hoping to hear from someone with similar commuting experience.
Pro's:
I'll be living in a city that I love.
I'll have a trustworthy, fun, roomie
quality of life would be immensly approved!
Con's
1 hour commute to and from work
cost in gas to make the commute
Thanks in advance for the input :)
2 AnswersCommuting10 years agoWhat is the difference in T.V.'s? Plasma, LED, LCD, etc...?
I just bought a 43" Plasma Samsung for my bedroom and I think it's a little too large for my bedroom, however I think I got a really good deal on it. I paid $498 with a $79 2 year warranty and received $20.00 off. I've heard plasma is not the way to go, however I don't see anything wrong with it being plasma.
1) Did I get a good deal?
2) It's just a little bit too big for my bedroom, but I'm going to be getting my own place soon, and am thinking it may be better to start large and buy a smaller one for my room when I have my house.
3) Is Plasma an ok tv? What are the differences between Plasma, LED, and LCD, etc?
Thanks in advance my techy yahoo friends :)
4 AnswersTVs10 years agoAm I going on a date...? Guys, what do you think? (and girls)?
I'm a 25 yr old female. I've been visiting my friend Jay quite a bit lately and the last two times I've visited (the first was a house party, the second was for a concert that Jay, his friend Tyler, and myself went to, just t/ 3 of us) his friend Tyler has been there. He's 30 and a really nice guy, sweet and nice on the eyes* We had only really met those two times and this past weekend I invited him out for a few drinks with me and a girlfriend and one of her friends. Every time we get together it's always a good time!
My question is, he texted me this week saying he won tickets to a hockey game and asked if i would like to come with him. Now, I'm just thinking this is a "friendly-hangout" but everyone else around me seems to think it's a date! 1) he texted vs calling 2) it's a hockey game and 3) I think I would know if I was going on a date! I mean c'mon. Everyone that thinks it's a date is saying it's a non-stressful way to ask me out without asking me out.
I need a guy to tell me what is going on here (haha) Thx!! Girls too - All opinions are welcome!! :)
1 AnswerSingles & Dating10 years agoIs missing two days of work in a row bad?
I have not felt good since Wednesday. I took yesterday off and felt like I needed to call in again today. I've had a headache, sinus problems, and overall I just feel terrible. I feel like I should go into work and suffer through it - I"m feeling really guilty for taking another day off in a row.
plus I fly out early sunday morning for work so I'm feeling extra guilty about missing two days in a row because I'll be out til next Wed. but do not want to be sick for my work conference either.
Is it bad missing two days in a row for being sick? I feel so guilty, like two days is too many.
4 AnswersEtiquette10 years ago1) How many lb's of meat to figure for each person 2) Would you add anything to this meal?
I'm making crispy ranch chicken, au gratin potatoes, green beans, and peanut butter cookies for 7 friends tonight.
1) I figured a breast a person in this case, but I remember being told to figure about 1 lb per person when hosting a dinner. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
2) Would you add anything to this meal?
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoWhat to serve along with my buttermilk ranch chicken?
I'm baking crispy ranch chicken (cornflakes, parmesan, dry ranch) for a group of 8 friends thurs night. I'm trying to decide on some sides that would compliment the ranch chicken.
I thought some hot cheesy pasta and green beans, or some kind of fancy mashed potato like blue cheese mashed or garlic mashed. Bacon goes well with ranch so I thought of putting it in the mashed potatoes or incorporating it in some way. (don't want to putz with twice-baked). A child-hood fav of mine is regular mashed with peas and cubed cheese along with a cream chicken gravy, but I can't find a recipe!
Any ideas? I don't want something too time consuming because I'll have guests. Make ahead or quick prep time ideas would be best! but am open to any!
