  • I have to return a gift, but it was stolen when I moved.?

So I previously asked a question about a computer that was given to me as a gift but now that the friendship has ended my old friend has asked for it back. I had plans of exchanging property with her after I move all my stuff out of storage which is where the computer should be. However, I was at my storage unit yesterday to retrieve the computer and it is not in either of the two boxes it could have been packed in. I fear that one of the guys that moved our stuff may have stolen it (cannot confirm yet as we have not moved everything out of storage) My roommate hired some sketch guys off of craigslist to move our stuff against my better judgment. Now what do I do if the laptop really was stolen? File my own police report against the movers, give my old $50 for the value of the laptop or allow her to take me to small claims court? This situation has turned from bad to worse smh. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Can my old friend sue me for a computer she gave to me?

My old friend and I have had a falling out. There has been alot of contact on her part and very little on mine. The most recent contact by her was through her mother calling to ask for an old laptop back that my friend had given to me some months ago. This is what happened; back in August/September my friend bought herself a new computer because her current one was messed up, the wi-fi didnt work, it was rittled with viruses, and it could not even read or burn cds. My friend had offered to let me get a computer with her HHGREGG credit card seeing as they had a special 0% financing offer available. Unfortunately when we got to the store we realized that the offer had expired. My friend then said to me, " You can have my old computer". So that was that. She gave me the computer, I took it home and used a few times with it directly connected ethernet. The computer was so slow it was more of a hassle to use it than not so I put it away. Now yesterday, her mother calls my phone asking for the computer back. I told her it was in storage and that the computer is worthless. She then asked me why didnt I give it back to which I replied "I didnt think to give it back..." Anyway I told her I would call her next week if I find it. After that I received a message from my old friend with something that looked like a makeshift agreement, basically saying that I agreed to give her mother the computer by 7/14/13 and if I do not comply then she will file a civil suit against me to recover the computer valued at $899.00.

Now mind you, this computer is from 2006, the wifi doesnt work, the disk drive doesnt work, and it is riddled with viruses so there is no way that it is worth $899 as a matter of fact I took it to a computer store and he told me it was worth nothing to him but he would take $50 off another computer for me if I traded it in.

So sorry for such a long story but my question is does she have a case? Should I return the junky computer or hold on to it off of principlal. Would I be within my rights to request the remainder of my belongings that still remain at her house in exchange for the computer? Any thoughts/advice welcome!!

    Thank you!

  • Can Your Tweets Land You In Hot Water?

So a friend of mine and I had a falling out recently. Just with every breakup we immediately removed eachother from our social media websites including twitter. So I have been tweeting away, the same random mess that everyone else tweets, retweeting funny posts etc. This weekend, a mutual friend of ours contacted me to tell me that "he thinks she is tweeting about me" So I went and took a look at her page this morning where she tweeted things like...

"The only thing that would have made my cinco de mayo better was crossing paths with you..."

"I say I've changed, for your sake I hope thats true"

"Who am I kidding, if I see you I'm ridin on you on sight"

"The only thing stopping me is that I dont know where to find you, but if that were to ever change...."

She followed her twitter rant with some hate messages to my cell phone, ending it with,

"I meant what I said, its not a threat, its a promise".

She claims that her reasoning behind these communications is that I have been tweeting and "subliminaly threatening' her on twitter, sighting a "retweet" I posted to my account that read as follows,

" They say to kill people with kindness, follow these steps, 1. Buy a gun 2. Name it Kindness 3. Kill these bitches with Kindness"

I thought it was funny, do I have intentions of following those steps? No. Twitter is a place for jokes and random thoughts, not a notebook to plan murder smh. I did not @ her, I wasnt speaking of her, I had no reason to believe that she would read it as I said, we are not friends on twitter.

Long story short, she claims she is going to take me up on charges for terrorist threats or harrassment? What do you think? Does she have a case?

  • Should I work the remaining of my 2 week notice?

I gave my job my 2 week notice last week and my last day is supposed to be this friday oct 1. I have mentally checked out of my current job already. The workplace is very ackward, my manager is hoovering over my shoulder watching and asking questions about everything that i do, i really dont want to continue driving out here for the rest of the week ( its a 40 mile drive one way ) i start my new job on monday oct 4 and I'll be honest i would love a break before i start the new position. In regards to using them as a future reference, if i have to use them i have another supervisor/trainer that i can use instead of my manager but honestly this practice may be out of business before i ever need to call on them for a reference. What do you all think i should do? suck it up and work or just go home tonight and not come back??

  • Should Obama renew the Bush tax cuts/credits?

Bush's tax cuts are due to expire this year and there seems to be alot of controversy as to whether or not Obama should go ahead and renew them. Personally i absolutely think that they should be renewed along with the tax credits for the low income families ie EIC. Let me know what you all think.

  • what message is opera saying by giving out free chicken coupons?

as you all might know, opera gave out free chicken coupons for kfc. we are having a debate at work regarding the issue. my co-worker thinks it looks bad that she promoted chicken to black people, enforcing the sterotype that all black people love chicken. (mind you we are in a prominitely black area) he feels that if opera wanted to give out a meal she should have made a different choice...what do you think?

  • why do the women have so much power?

My fiance has a child from a previous relationship. He loves his daughter. We used to have her over every weekend so she could spend time with her dad. When we would go and pick her up, his daughter was in terrible condition, you can clearly see that this little girl is not being taken care of, she is always dirty, as in her clothes shoes and hair, and she tells us horror stories of her life with her mother. While she is with us we clean her up and take her out to have fun. He is the one that purchases all of her school clothes, school supplies, all her shoes, gets her hair done basically he does everything for this little girl. Recently, his daughters mother decided that he cannot see her anymore just out of the blue. He was never formally on child support because she never put him on because he was taking care of his daughter. Now she refuses to let him see her, wont give him current sizes so he can purchase the things that she needs, she demands for him to give her cash. He said he is not giving her money because he doesnt believe that the money will go to his daughter and that he is more than happy to pay for her

She has a needle in her arm that is feeding her the medicine that is keeping her alive. Because she is in complete agony, she decides to rip out the needle and end it all, but realized that suicide is grounds for eternal damnation, so she attemptst to put it back into her arm, seizes, and dies.
