  • Why is my wheel so hot after getting brakes replaced?

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. I went to the dealership yesterday to get all of my brakes (front & rear) replaced and it wasn't cheap.(pads, rotors, etc..). After driving 2 hours for work, I was unloading a few things from the backseat and standing by my rear driver-side tire. I was wearing pants and note it's about 20° outside. I noticed a crazy amount of heat on my legs. So I touched the wheel with the back of my hand and the lug nuts and other metal on the wheel burned the S*** out of my hand! Walked around to test the other wheels and they all felt warm, as expected with new brakes and mountain driving but that one rear-driver side tire/wheel was extremely hot. (Too hot to touch!) Is this normal? Any ideas of what it could be? I'm hoping some mechanics will see this and help me out. I'll pick the best answer and any information is greatly appreciated!

  • Shuttle & hotels near Clearwater/ St Petersburg Florida Airport (PIE) for cruise?

We are flying from CLT (Charlotte, NC) to PIE Airport for a cruise in April. Our flight arrives at PIE around 11PM on 4/14/17. Our cruise departs the following day 4/15/17 at 4PM. So we are just wanting somewhere to crash for a few hours. Nothing fancy by any means. We was wanting others experience and opinions. Is there a shuttle or other transportation to go from the airport to a close cheap hotel and then how to get transported to the cruise terminal? We are renting a car to drive back after the cruise from Enterprise and we know they will pick us up after the cruise to get a rental. Our main concern is before the cruise not after. Any opinions? I will pick the best answer!

(BTW: Florida must have tons of car rentals they want sent to other states LOL. For us to rent a car there and return it the next day in North Carolina is only $13 bucks with Enterprise!!? Vise versa is over $300!!!)

  • Do you need a US passport for a cruise out of Puerto Rico?

I'm looking at cruises and I live in North Carolina (US resident). There is a cruise that we are interested in but it departs out of San Juan, Puerto Rico and returns to San Juan. Let's say we fly from Charlotte, NC to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Take the"closed loop" cruise then fly back to Charlotte, NC after the cruise. Would you need a passport during any of this since Puerto Rico is a US territory? Anyone with knowledge or experience regarding this would be greatly appreciated! Will pick best answer.

  • Can I wash my car after bodywork?

Recently (a week ago) I got my car back after getting bodywork done from a car accident. The paperwork says because of the paint job on the front to not pressure wash or go thru automatic car wash for at least 30 days but says I can wash only by hand or touchless car wash. We recently had a big snow storm this past weekend and it's now nice weather and the snow is gone. I really want to get all of the salt off my car, so what's my best option? I live in Apartments and can't wash by hand with a garden hose and what's the difference between automatic carwash and touchless? Will pick best answer. Hopefully someone can answer with bodywork experience

  • Cost of Catalytic Converter in 2010 Hyundai Elantra?

I need a catalytic converter replaced in my 2010 Hyundai Elantra. I asked a co-worker if he kneww about how much it would cost to have it replaced and he said it depends on the location. There is apparently 2 locations on most vehicles and one is easier access. Does anyone know if for my car? And about how much it should cost on average to be replaced? Thanks in advance and I'll pick the best answer within 24 hours or less.

  • Transport of Open Container Law in NC?

I've done multiple searches online and can't find a clear answer to my situation regarding what's legal/illegal when transporting liquor. I'm going to a cabin this weekend in Tennessee. I know it's legal for me to take new sealed liquor (vodka, whiskey) in my car to my weekend getaway. My question is this... For example, we don't drink all of our bottled hard liquor. Can I legally transport it back home in my trunk with my luggage? Since we drank this weekend, the bottle is now considered an open container so I wasn't sure? I live in North Carolina, so I'm asking for both NC & TN state law on this. I've also wondered the same thing if you go to a party and don't drink all of a certain liquor and want to take the rest home. And just to be clear this is obviously not while anyone is under the influence while driving or being transported. I'd assume anyone associated with lawyers/police would have a clear answer to this. Thank you in advance and I'll pick the best answer.

  • What size tires should I get and where should I get them?

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra SE that's in need of a set of new tires. It currently has the following size tires on it: 195/65R15, and apparently that's the size I've been getting for awhile but the manufacturer suggestion is 205/55R16. My question is should I stick with what's been on it for as long as I can remember or should I go to the new size? My second question is does anyone have any experience buying tires online? I'm debating on going to the garage like usual or buying them online and having the garage install them. What's my best bet, especially money wise? I'll choose a best answer and thanks in advance!

  • Should I file a auto insurance claim?

I have a new 2014 Ford F-150. I went to a concert this past Saturday night and the following day (Sunday) noticed large scruffs and scratches on my front passenger bumper and on the actual metal. I don't know if it can be simply buffed out or not. It feels slightly indented in the scruffs/scrapes. My truck is black and the marks are white and green. I'm assuming a green vehicle scruffed against it in the very crowded parking lot/ field. I want to keep the vehicle in mint condition as I might trade/ sell down the road. So I guess my question is if it was your new vehicle would you not worry with it, quote to pay out of pocket or just file a claim? I'm with State Farm and it has full coverage as required in NC for a new vehicle, as the bank owns the title. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I will choose a best answer as well.

  • Graphic Design Degree now what?

I have ALOT going on in my head but going to try and make this short and to the point. I have my 4 year degree in Graphic Design along side with a minor in Business Administration. I acquired my degree in May 2010. I went straight to college for 4 years after highschool. It's been 5 years this month since I graduated college and I've been working average Joe jobs. I'm ready for a change/ focus in my life. I'm working myself to death to resolve debt and paying for an unused degree. My question would be.. Should I still pursue my degree as it's been 5 years since I've really focused on graphics. I feel as if I've forgot most of what I was taught by now. If so, which direction should I go? Or should I go back to school to continue my degree, but I don't know where to even go with such a degree? More courses, master's, etc.. My passions if it helps; Art, Photography, Psychology, Meteorology and Geography. I'm a very organized, detailed oriented type. Any guidance would be helpful. I'll choose a best answer. And please only serious opinions, everyone has been at that lost moment in their life.

  • Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S6?

I recently got a new Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Otterbox Defender case with built in screen protector. The case was too bulky for my taste and my screen seemed not responsive 50% of the time so I returned the case and settled for the Otterbox Commuter Series. I know it comes with a little self adhesive screen protector. My question is should I stick with that one or what's the best/ durable screen protector that gives me the most clarity as bare screen, which is the way it is right now. Also considered no screen protector since the case has the raised lips on the front. Any suggestions or experience? Thanks in advance. I'll choose a best answer.

  • Am I paying too much for car insurance?

I know everything varies from person to person and depends on locations across the country but overall I was wondering if any experts out there think I'm getting a good deal or not. I'll provide some details but not my insurance company name as I don't want a biased answer from someone who say works for a certain company. Anyway it's a national insurance brand and here is the details.

I live in North Carolina. Me and my spouse are on the plan together. Total is 3 vehicles. 2014 Ford F150, 2010 Hyundai Elantra and 2006 Chevy Cobalt. The F-150 and Elantra have full coverage, as they are still being played on. The Cobalt is owned by us and paid not the bank and only has liability. We are paying approx average of $160 a month? Good deal? Or should I shop around more? I'm looking to reduce some monthly debt. I have been with this same company since I started driving at 16, it's what I hav e bc my parents had them when I started and I stayed there myself. I'm 26 now so I've been with them over 10 years now.

  • Meaning of Crazy Dream?

I had a crazy dream/ nightmare last night. I was in a house with people I don't currently know but in my dream I felt very close to them. It was almost like a family love I had for them. But long story short, a teen guy had us hostage or something. He had a knive and not a gun. I was younger than I am now, like a child and I felt helpless and couldn't defend myself. I was getting sliced, stabbed and slashed all over. I vividly remember my hands and arms sliced up the most nand seeing my "loved ones" getting sliced and blood everywhere but then I woke up with my heart racing. I never dream such gruesome dreams. This really freaked me out. Any meaning behind it?

  • TriCare Insurance Card Confusion!?

I have TriCare Reserve Select under my husband whose in the NC National Guard. My question: Do I use my Dependant Military ID card as my insurance card? I know I can just use my sponsors/ his SSN but the offices I've been to which accept TriCare, seem confuse when I just give them his SSN. So should I start giving then my Military ID? And in regards of filling out paperwork that asks for the policy # and group # etc.. Do I leave all of this blank? Or does any numbers on my ID card take the place of those? I noticed on my ID card there is a DoD #, on the back is s Benefits # & also on the back it says Medical: With active duty orders for over 30 days. (Note I got my ID and was enrolled in Deer's about a year ago but only got insurance starting this past March. Any info will be VERY helpful!

  • Can my landlord (Property Management) enter my apartment without a notice?

I live in North Carolina and my property manager entered my apartment without any notice. We keep our doors locked and our apartment complex has ALOT of inspections.... Example: last month we had 3-4 inspections, 1 was state inspection and the calendar mail letter says another one at the end of April!! Anyway they always attach a letter to our door about a week prior to anyone entering for all the inspections or.. check fire extinguisher, check fire alarms, change air filters, exterminator treatment..... Anyway back to the main point. They have always given notice and I work 2nd-3rd shift 7PM- 3AM which they know. This past Friday around 9 AM I had only been asleep for a few hours and I wake up to her screaming in my living room then opening my bedroom door where me and my spouse was sleeping and kept screaming for Josh.... I was seeing if he was Ok... I was like no, my name is Robbie... Then she was like sorry and left. I was groggy and half asleep. When I woke up later that afternoon I noticed she left my door unlocked which I don't like while we are sleeping! Anyway is any of this legal? I hate the way this place is ran and our lease doesn't expire until February next year but it was a mistake renewing it a couple months ago. What's thoughts on this?

  • Need help choosing car insurance!?

I'm a member of AAA and my husband is in the Army National Guard. We currently have State Farm and we'd like to know what's the best deal? I have full coverage and my husband just has liability and would possibly like to add collision to his car. Best rate? AAA or military discounts? We both use our cars for work.. We are couriers but of course we didn't tell that to State Farm as I know our rates would SKY ROCKET if they knew we was on the road ALL the time and used them for work. We live in North Carolina and he has a 2006 Chevy Cobalt with 200,000 miles and I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with 180,000 miles... (Yea our mileage is high bc we use them for work. Although we definitely keep them VERY WELL maintained.) Any advice on which company is best? I'll choose a best answer. Thanks!

  • How do I fill out my taxes myself with a 1099-MISC form as a courier/ driver?

I'm a medical courier and apparently considered a self employed/ contractor. I deliver medical goods using my own personal car. I was always told that mileage is better than expenses so I'm going with miles I drove. Last year I made $36,173.32, according to my 1099 and have logged a total mileage for work as 56,770 miles. I hope I don't have to pay out since they don't withhold taxes for my job. My spouse works for the same company and made $19,415.03 and logged 28,860 miles. Any information would be helpful on if we would likely break even with our mileage or any other means on filling out the 1099-misc form. Thanks in advance and I will select a top answer!
