  • How do I keep Yahoo Mail from signing me out all the time?

    Ever since the forced upgrade, Yahoo Mail keeps making me sign back in everytime I launch the site or step away from my computer for a few minutes. I know this might be "best practice" in a corporate environment, but this is my computer in my home and I already have the screen lock after 10 minutes of inactivity. I do NOT need Yahoo Mail forcing me to authenticate as often as my bank account. -- the information is not that sensitive!

    I looked in the settings and could not find anything for session timeout.

  • How to sort Yahoo Mail inbox by sender?

    Pretty simple. I used to be able to sort my inbox by sender. Now, since the forced upgrade to the new UI, I cannot.

    I ** NEED ** this functionality. Searching my sender name is far too slow and labor intensive for what I want to do.

  • How do I disable themes in Yahoo Mail Plus?

    I was happy with the legacy Yahoo Mail interface. I opted-out of the last upgrade, and I would have opted-out of this one, too. The people who are designing this interface spend far too much time making things look pretty, and far too little time on making Mail QUICK and FULL FEATURED.

    I made a mistake of checking out one of the themes in the new Yahoo Mail interface. Now I cannot turn it off. I have eyesight problems, and the theme significantly reduced the contrast of my screen making it very difficult to read.

    Why does this question even need to be asked?

  • Why does Yahoo hate its customers?

    I spend actual cash dollars for Yahoo services. But there is no way for me to talk to a real person about my complaints with the service. The only way to express my dissatisfaction appears to be to cancel my account, get an automated refund for my pro-rated services, and then go on my way without any satisfaction whatsoever.

    Is this what Yahoo is trying to turn the world into? I society of robots who are forbidden to express any emotion, and may only exist as the suffrage of our corporate overloards?

  • For all you folks planning to "survive" in the woods forever...?

    If you're living in a tent, where will Santa land his sleigh if you have no roof

    How will Santa deliver your presents if you have no chimney?

    Where will you hang your stockings?

    Will setting out a plate of cookies in your tent attract bears?

    Considering the cold temperature, will you purposefully be "bad" so that Santa leaves you a lump of coal?

    Do you think Santa would get mad if you took one of his reindeer for food?

    and finally

    What's the best knife for skinning and butchering a 200 pound reindeer.

  • Cheaters on Yahoo Answers Camping?

    I'm not vain enough to think my answers are always the best. One of the benefits of a community forum like Answers is you often get a wide variety of opinions, many good, some not so much. An honest system of voting should help new and inexperienced campers distinguish good answers from the bad. But it also helps experienced people -- at least those with an open mind -- discover different and potentially better gear or methods. Voting should be on the merit of the answer and not a popularity contest or some ridiculous quest for meaningless and undeserved points or status.

    It is awfully suspicious when mediocre (or worse) answers to mundane questions suddenly start getting 5 or 8 votes. It's also suspicious that, as a result, the number of votes per question has more than doubled, while the amount of interest and questions in Camping seems to have remained constant.

    What do you think? Am I seeing things that aren't there?

  • Tent Question #3: Common Tent Setup and Maintenance Mistakes?

    I've done a lot of scout camping in my younger days, was our pack's campmaster for 15+ years, and continue to do a lot of camping every year, sometimes with larger groups of family and friends. I often hear stories about how this or that model tent stinks, but upon listening further, I realize that the problem primarily is due to the user not setting-up the tent properly or not preparing/maintaining the tent properly.

    So what are some of the tent setup and maintenance mistakes you've seen, and how do you prevent them from happening. For example:

    Do "modern, high-quality" tents need to have their seams sealed before use? Exactly which seams need to be sealed? Do you apply sealant to the inside or outside? Do the seams need to be periodically resealed? What about tape?

    With heavy-duty, sealed, waterproof, bathtub floor designs, is a ground sheet still a necessity, and if so, what kind? Is a larger ground sheet better than a short one?

    Orienting your tent versus ground features, the sun and wind?

    Protecting against water, animal and overhead dangers?

    Anything else you've experienced.

  • Tent Question #2: Good 2-person backpacking tents?

    I'm thinking of retiring my 20 year old Eureka! Backcountry 2 to backup status and getting a new backpacking tent. The Backcountry 2 has served us very well, and continues to be our favorite tent, but it's definitely showing its age (accumulated years of seam sealing, several patches in the fly from campfire embers). My initial thought based on experience with this model is to just get a new Backcountry 2. But I'm willing to allow that there may be better tent models or brands, so before making up my mind, I'd like to hear your recommendations based on your experience.

    What I like about the Backcountry 2:

    * Small pack size (90 cubic inches, 15x6")

    * Under 6 pounds (5.6 pounds)

    * Free-standing

    * Fast and easy 1-person setup/take-down/packing

    * Great in wind and rain

    * Very good ventilation

    * Works okay in moderate winter weather

    * 7'6" long, good for us tall guys

    * 5' wide, can actually sleep two adults comfortably

    * 3'6" high, again, good for us tall guys

    * Low maintenance (seal the seams once a year)

    * Under $300 (actually, only $190)

    What I wish for

    * Vestibule

    * Less weight is always desirable

    I was looking at the MSR Hubba Hubba but, although its lighter the tent itself is smaller (width) and the pack size is larger. Other tents I've been looking at are Sierra Designs Lightning HT2 and Marmot Twilight 2. Any thoughts on these or other models?

    PLEASE only recommend tents you have used. No offense, but I can read specs and look at pictures, but it doesn't tell me about durability, actual setup/take-down/packing issues, strengths/weaknesses vs other tents.

  • Tent Question #1: Coleman's "Keeps You Dry, Guaranteed™"?

    Every time there's a discussion of tents on Answers, invariably someone parades this Coleman "guarantee" as the trump card by which one should judge Coleman tents superior to all others. Please don't take this as a personal attack or an impeachment of Coleman's products, but I can find no such guarantee anywhere on Coleman's website, and neither can Coleman's own customer support staff. The only consumer protection appears to be Coleman's standard one-year limited warranty against defects in materials or manufacturing, which is actually rather weak by comparison to other major tent manufacturers.

    So what exactly is the Coleman's "Keeps You Dry, Guaranteed™" promise mean, how does it make Coleman tents superior to all others, and what are the terms and conditions regarding this guarantee? The _best_ answer should have a link to the guarantee description on Coleman's (or Jarden's) website or some other reasonably definitive evidence aside from conjecture or empirical evidence.
