Army Overweight Program?
Question dealing with AR 600-9 and the overweight program in the Army in general.
Once a soldier has weighed in over max, and busted tape, is the Army required to send them through the steps outlined in 600-9? Or is this an option for command to decide?
For a scenario, soldier misses run by 6 seconds, that's a failure plain and simple. Missess height and weight, and goes over the tape. Would the next step be 600-9? Or would it be discharge? Or would it be discretionary?
This is not an 'eat your way out of the Army' scenario.
Thanks in advance
2 AnswersMilitary9 years agoTrayvon Martin was the first to 'Stand Your Ground'?
Trayvon Martin was walking to his Dad's fiance's house when he was accosted after being followed by Zimmerman.
If the above is true, then even if Martin DID in fact strike Zimmerman, were his actions not legal?
Florida Statute 776.012 Use of force in defense of person. — A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other's imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:
(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony;
If Martin was acting legally, what will that do to Martin's claim of self defense? It was after all, Zimmerman who engaged Martin, not the other way around.
Stand your ground, does no equate to close the gap first, THEN stand your ground.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoViolation of First Amendment rights or not?
For those that keep up with the news, the latest out of PA is the ruling from Judge Mark Martin in a harassment complaint after an altercation at a parade. A synopsis of the entire debacle is here:
http://news.yahoo.com/judge-dismisses-charges-agai...
A copy of the video of the event is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP-X3hpCfR8&feature...
And finally an audio of the proceedings is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv9IyrpOnbs&feature...
Some argue that while the charges should not have been dismissed, they also believe that the ruling did not affect the 1st Amendment rights of Perce. I differ.
Based on what you see and hear, am I wrong?
Remember that your religous and political affiliation has no bearing on this (or at least shouldn't).

1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoSmoke/steam from dipstick?
1988 Wrangler, 4.2, after market AC, recently rebuilt motor (rebuilt in October, no miles on it, only been run a total of about 45 minutes).
I replaced the water pump and of course all the gaskets.
Had the motor rebuilt professionally in October of this year, been slowly getting it back together. Fired it up the first time about 10 days ago, and noticed some water in the oil. Shut it down, tightened the intake manifold bolts to specified torque (again), changed the oil and filter. Started it up and now notice smoke/steam from the dipstick tube, as well as from the PCV tube.
Pressure test on the cooling system shows that it will NOT hold pressure at all, that said, I did the test with the heater core connected, I will do another after bypassing the heater core tomorrow.
I am pretty much convinced that the head gasket is bad(anything can happen, even with a rebuild), it could be blow by, but with the coolant in the oil, I think not (could be wrong though, that's why I am here) but my question is this, aside from a compression test how else can I narrow down the problem?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoFord Explorer starting problems?
2001 Ford Explorer, v-6, for what it's worth, not a bad car. Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, started having trouble with what appeared to be low battery, dragging, clicking etc. Took it in, tested the alternator, it was not charging properly (less than 13 volts), replaced the alternator, tested again, now charging at 13.14 volts (I can live with that for now). Drove the car around, parked it in the driveway, came out, nothing but a few clicks, jump starting didn't help.
Pulled the battery, took it down, tested fine.
Pulled the starter (thinking that it could be nothing else) starter benched tested fine at 3 different places.
Took the starter back, reinstalled it, turn the key and nothing. If I shift from P to N, still nothing. lights are on, dim a little when I hit the key, but nothing from the starter, and I mean nothing!
Earlier, if I tried to turn the key to start it 30 times, it would click on about 3 tries, and on 1 try, it would drag a little and stop.
I am thinking the safety neutral switch (or the Digital Transmission Range ((DTR)) sensor). Would a faulty DTR allow power enough to let the starter click or drag a little but not enough power to completely start?
Am I on the right track, a little help here, this is driving me nuts
6 AnswersFord10 years agoWhy can't people accept the verdict in the Anthony trial?
The jury found her not guilty of first degree murder, not guilty of aggravated manslaughter and not guilty of aggravated child abuse. They did find her guilty of providing false information to a law enforcement officer.
A jury of 12, the accepted way to determine guilt in this country. The trial was presided over by a prosecution leaning judge. The law was followed in his court.
The prosecution presented their evidence, the defense presented their case.
The jury decided.
What's the problem?
The jury wasn't duped, they weren't bribed. They sat and listened. The weighed and evaluated the evidence, and made a unanimous decision. I seriously doubt that as some have insinuated, that they merely made a decision so that it could all be over with. They aren't stupid.
They had the opportunity to convict her of a lesser charge in the death of her daughter, but they felt that the prosecution didn't prove it's case beyond a reasonable doubt.
You and I weren't there, we didn't sit in one of those 12 chairs. They got ONLY the information that was admissible in court. WE tried her in the media. Most of the public that she was guilty based on the MEDIA, not the facts.
She was an irresponsible mother and a liar, but neither of those makes her a murderer, nd she was convicted on the lying part.
For every expert witness the prosecution called, the defense called one to rebut, that's their job.
What would you do if you were in the defense seat? Would you want a fair trial? I bet you would, but it's not acceptable that someone else should get one?
Nancy Grace is not always right, she was wrong on the Duke LaCrosse players, and she settled a lawsuit with the Duckett's, and she was obviously wrong here, of course she was one of the ones who tried her in the court of public opinion using the media information as her 'facts', and her faithful followers as her jury.
So the jury decided, you can dislike it if you want, but the fact is, they did their job.
13 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoNeed to know where to invest for long term growth?
OK, I know that it is a vague question, but let me give you the story.
My youngest son is 19, he just recently (within the last week) left for basic training in the Army. He intends to make it a career. Before he left, we discussed finances, and as he is the first to become overdrawn at the bank, he left me with access and permission to handle his finances.
The two most important things we discussed were a) creating a savings account for emergencies and b) setting some money aside for retirement/rainy day fund later in life.
He is agreeable, and we didn't discuss much regarding the investment strategy, so I want to do some research, hence I put this question out to the YA group...:)
Assuming I have a 0 beginning fund, and invest 50.00 per month, increasing that by 25.00 for every promotion he makes, in 30 years, he should be doing well when you include his military retirement.
So the big question is, if I am looking at long term, where do I put it? Mutual funds? Where?
Any help, links would be greatly appreciated.
6 AnswersInvesting10 years agoTexas estate question?
My step father recently passed away. His estate included a home with 40k remaining on the mortgage, and a car with 16k remaining on the note. The home is valued at greater than 100k so it can be refinanced. The car is valued at 12k which means my mother is left upside down in the car note.
My mothers name does not appear anywhere on the car, not on the title or the loan. Her name is not on the mortgage but it is on the deed.
She wants out from under the car, but wants to refinance the balance on the home.
Everything he had was given to her in his will.
That said, now here are my questions.
If she allows the vehicle to go back by voluntary repossession, it will obviously be sold and they will send a bill to the estate for the balance, I know that and I know there will be a difference of about 4k(ish). Assuming that the finance company files a suit against the estate to recoup the balance, will they be able to attach a lien against the house?
If the house was willed to her, does the value of the house continue to be part of the 'estate'? Or since it was willed to her directly in the will, is it separate?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago94 Jeep Grand Cherokee brake issues?
Lot long ago, I was driving through my subdivision, when I noticed that the brakes in essence 'applied' themselves. The brake peddle was hard, and the brakes were applied to the left front wheel.
Got it home, and here to date is what has been replaced. Rotors, calipers, pads and brake lines both sides, as well as a new master cylinder.
I still have the problem, but to a lesser degree.
What's next?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhy do the Dems scream and yell?
Why are the dems screaming and yelling about the AIG bonuses when Dodd (a dem) just admitted that they 'inserted' the language themselves?
Dodd just admitted on CNN that he inserted a loophole in the stimulus legislation that allowed million-dollar bonuses to insurance giant AIG to go forward – after previously denying any involvement in writing the controversial provision. .
“We wrote the language in the bill, the deal with bonuses, golden parachutes, excessive executive compensation that was adopted unanimously by the United States Senate in the stimulus bill,” Dodd told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer this afternoon.
“But for that language, there would have been no language to deal with this at all.”

19 AnswersElections1 decade ago94 Jeep Grand Cherokee brakes won't release?
Have a 94 Jeep grand Cherokee, 2WD, disc front, drums rear, straight 6. The L side front brakes began sticking and not releasing about a month ago. The pedal seemed to build pressure on it's own until it was rock hard and the brakes were completely locked. I could release the pressure from the bleed valve, and it would work fine for a bit, then start again. I replaced the calipers, rotors and pads on both sides. worked fine for a day, started again.
Replaced the master cylinder, bled the system, worked fine for a day, started again, this time, it's the R side.
Vehicle has ABS.....possible that the ABS module is gone out?
Any ideas on what to try? This is beginning to irritate me......
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoDISH network and DIRECTTV?
I currently have DISH network and am moving, the house I am buying already has a dish installed from the previous owner, but it is DIRECTTV. Now, I can afford to pay someone to install my DISH in the new house, but if it is not necessary, I have a lot of other things I would rather do with that money...:)
Question is, can I use the DIRECTTV dish, with my DISH Network receivers?
Thanks in advance.

To me and my family, we get along great, she likes my parents, my parents like her, she gets along well with both my sisters, and my two teenage sons. Her brother and I get along great, her parents will travel down to see me even when she is out of town.
I have seen an incredible of questions dealing with family who can't stand the boy/girlfriends, husbands/wives, and am a little curious.
Anyone else have a good relationship between significant others and our respective families?
