What are your suggestions and thoughts for a new .22 rifle?
I am looking for a new (not used) inexpensive plinker. The local wal-mart has a Savage Mark II ($127), Mossberg Plinker ($109), Savage Model 64 ($117), Marlin Model 60 ($139), Ruger 10/22 ($187) and Henry H001 ($256). I am leaning toward the Mark II as it has a reputation for accuracy, feels better to hold and mount, and has a better front sight than the Plinker (similar to the M64) or the Model 60, at the lower end of the price range and is a bolt action. What are the communities experiences with any of those mentioned? I am looking at Wal-Mart (this one still sells firearms) just because of the price (lower than one else in the area). I don't want to consider used because I have had two bad purchases (jam-o-matics)) with used .22 rifles.
11 AnswersHunting9 years agoHow to judge the minimum shutter speed on a DX camera?
I have a Nikon d200. The color is amazing, yet I seem to be having a bit of a problem at low light. As an old film shooter, I learn a ground rule, your lowest shutter speed should match the focal length of your lens, for example, a 50mm f1.8 lens should use a minimum of a 1/50th shutter speed. However, the DX frame treats a 50 mm like it was a 75mm. Consequently, should the minimum speed used (again a rule of thumb) be 1/50 or 1/75? Any references?

It's an old Smith kit gun (k-22), shot and carried a lot by grandpa, probably not worth much, but an old family heirloom.

What companies make these, which ones are the best values? I am especially interested in the 20 gauge to .22 adapter.
