  • Is this a decent exercise plan?

So I decided to tone up a bit, but even after a bit of research I'm still unsure about this stuff, there are a lot of conflicting opinions out there.

So basically I started doing push-ups, squats and crunches as well as some weight-training:

bicep-curls, two-arm tricep extensions, military presses (all with the dumbbells I bought, don't really have the time to hit the gym) and that's about it so far.

I hit all of this 3 times a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I'm a total newbie, and just finished my first week, needless to say, feelin' a bit sore :D

The question is: Does that look all right and what are some other exercises I might throw in there with the compound movements as well as isolation exercises with dumbbells etc.?

I read in some places that it's good to hit all of your body in once day, but other sources say that you should only focus on one muscle once or twice a week and split it up in like a "Leg day" and an "Arm day" and so on. My muscles are recovering well I think, pretty sore in the days in-between exercises, but I don't feel uncomfortable lifting and exercising the next work-out day. So I'd rather hit all of those areas at once, unless someone tells my that's totally wrong :D

I also want to start doing some cardio, because I've got a bit of a beer belly etc. I've got a relatively lean frame overall, but there are some areas with more fat than I'd like, I'm kind of a fat skinny dude. Would it be better for me to do high-intensity cardio, like jumping rope, or something less intense, like jogging? I know two guys who lost like 50 pounds in 2 months jumping rope, so that looks pretty appealing, although more taxing.

And should I do the cardio in-between the workout days, or on those days, or on every day or what?

Damn, that is one long question, sorry for making you read through it all, but I just wanna make sure i'm doing this right.

Oh and in case it matters I'm a 19 year old male, about 6 feet tall, around 175-180 pounds, give or take.

  • Mid ATX tower PC case suggestions?

Since my mobo with all the components is lying under my desk, completely unprotected and gathering dust, I figured I need to buy a case.

    Relevant info i.e. largest components:

    Motherboard - Asus P6T (not deluxe) ------------30.5cm (W) x 24.4cm (L)

    GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 --------6 cm (H) x 25 cm (W)

    CPU heatsink (MASSIVE) - Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E SE --------17 cm (W) x 13 cm (D) 16.5 cm (H)

I don't want to buy a full size tower because they are more expensive and I can only go up to £80 ($130). I need a case with reasonable airflow, nice aesthetics and of course to be able to fit the above hardware, I'm not terribly knowledgeable about cases etc. but I think the sizes of MID-ATX cases vary, so I need you help.

Like I said, the price ceiling is £80 ($130).

  • Intel i7 920 high temperatures?

OK, so today I was playing Metro 2033 and I noticed some slight stutters in sound that seemed out of place, considering the frame-rate was good. I decided to check the temperatures of the CPU, using SpeedFan and AIDA, and to my horror the temperatures of all cores were around 95 C. I stopped playing, shut my PC down and cleaned out the dust from the CPU cooler with compressed air.

Turned it back on and the idle temperatures were around 45-50, which is pretty high for idle temps. I remember the last time I checked the temps (a while ago, several months) it was like 35-40 C idle and 60-65 C under load. I haven't changed the cooler or modified the system in any way (well I did buy a new GPU, but that shouldn't matter). No over-clocking or anything like that, it just magically started heating up like women's loins when they see Ryan Gosling.

    TL;DR - CPU hot (50 idle, 90+ under load), cleaned cooler - didn't help

  • Is this OK for a budget gaming system?

    CPU - Intel Core i5 3550 3.3GHz

    MoBo - Asus P8Z77-V PRO

    RAM - 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

    GPU - PowerColor HD 7870 PCS+

    PSU - Corsair TX 650W V2

I think it's pretty good, but are there any components I could upgrade without increasing the price too much (£560)?

  • Violin VS Cello, which do you prefer?

I can't decide which instrument I want to learn. Violins seem small, practical, and just fun to play, whereas cellos have a much wider range of notes and are heavier (both musically and physically).

I'm not asking which is "better" because that's a stupid question, I'm asking which one do you, violinists and cellists, prefer and why?

Note I already have played the guitar for almost 2 years, so I have decent finger dexterity/strength already, so the learning curve should be somewhat reduced.

  • Is a leather jacket for an 18 year old a good idea?

I know what you're gonna say: "It doesn't matter what others think, wear what you want", and I intend to do just that, but out of interest would a young guy wearing leather look like he's a try-hard to you? I'm looking at a jacket similar to this

  • Help with graphics card's pin connectors?

I'm thinking of buying an XFX Radeon 7970, I read that it requires a 6-pin connector and an 8-pin connector. My 650W PSU only has two 6-pin connectors. Can I just get a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter thingy or should I buy a more powerful PSU that also has the necessary connectors? Would using an adapter have a negative impact on the performance of the card?

  • Wireless headset with a mic?

I need to buy a wireless headset and it must have a decent quality microphone. I'd also like if it was possible to recharge it via USB cable and still be able to use whilst charging, I know I once saw a headset like this but forgot the make and model :(

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  • Ibanez RG370DXZ vs Epiphone Les Paul.?

    I can't decide. That's pretty much my budget - £400 ($633), so don't tell me to go for a Gibson or a high-end Ibanez.

I see they both have humbuckers, but the Ibanez also has a single-coil in the middle, so I guess that should add some extra versatility. Then again I've read some reviews and it seems that the clean tones on the Ibanez aren't that great. It's more suited for metal I guess and I mostly play Hard rock, Rock and Blues and all the subgenres (Guns and Roses, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Muse, The white stripes, Steve Vai, Jimi Hendrix etc.) . But the Epiphone doesn't have a vibrato arm and I kinda like dive-bombing.

Aww man someone help me out here.
