  • Do tree roots let out moisture if they are cut?

We noticed a wet spot about 12" diamter in our soil where ground is being cleared and leveled for our pool. My husband dug down a little to see what might be causing the wet spot, but only found a tree root that had been hit with the shovel while digging. Is this possible that the wet dirt was caused by the root?

  • How often can hair be dyed?

My huband used a permanent hair dye, when he usually just uses the Just For Men rinse to color over grey hair. He is not liking the color at all, but is afraid to change it in fear it will be worse. He just dyed his hair a week ago. Can he do it again now? And what if this doesn't turn out, how much time does he have to wait to try again?

  • What is the beach like in Kitty Hawk, NC compared to Southern New Jersey beaches?

My family and I are going on a vacation for the first time to OBX, specifically Kitty Hawk next week. We are staying at a time share condo at 42nd street and Virginia Dare Trail. My neighbor told us that there is a stretch of beach in Kitty Hawk that is very hard to walk on because it's almost like stone. I hope this isn't where we will be. Does anyone know this area that can tell me more about it?

  • How can I get my 3 1/2 yr old son to cooperate and take eye drops for pink eye?

Please help! He can't be reasoned with, he's only 3. All he knows is that it's scary for me to put something near his eyes and he freaks out. He starts crying, so even if I get his eyes pried open, the tears wash away the meds. I tried telling him we'll reward him with a toy he wants, that only works when we talk but then when it comes time for the drops again, he doesn't care and freaks out. My husband held him down, but again, the tears wash it away. The docs office says this is the only way, and we as parents just have to deal. I'm so beside myself and stressed. The pink eye is in both eyes. Any suggestions from someone with a similar issue?

  • I had a flu shot last night, but did not realize when I got it that I was coming down with a virus.?

I had a headache all day and a little queezy, but thought it was just because of my headache...and figured the headache was from skipping breakfast. It wasn't until I got home that I realized it was a stomach virus, and I started to feel worse and developed a fever (99deg). Should I be concerned? Is there anything I can do? Right now I feel achy, slight fever still (but lower) and a little queezy.

  • Does anyone know what happened to the good Santa that has been at the Neshaminy Mall for the past several yrs?

Last year he was out for a couple of weeks due to being sick, and I heard that he has since passed away and that's why he's not there. My husband thinks he remembers reading about it in the paper over the summer, but I'll be darned if I can't find one thing about it. The new Santa isn't as nice looking, he's very short and fat. My 3 yr old looked like an adult sitting on his lap. lol

  • What is the best product to use to get dog and cigarette smell out of a vehicle?

Just got a pre-owned vehicle...love it, but it has the odor of dog and cigarettes. Febreeze doesn't work, and I dont want to use air freshners since they just cover the smell.

  • How to deal with a 3 1/2 yr old that won't listen?

My son is almost 3 1/2 yrs old. Recently, he has been extra bad with listening. For example, when it is bedtime, he will stop dead in his tracks, cross his arms and just downright refuse to move. It usually ends up with yelling at him because being reasonable and trying to entice him to listen in a nice way won't even work. My husband decided that taking things away from him and throwing them in the trash was the way to teach him a lesson. I thought that was just too mean, so I removed his toy from the trash and went back to trying to reason. I'm at a loss of what to do. I don't want to yell and fight, nor do I want to take things away in anger and upset the situation worse. Any suggestions? Oh, and time out doesn't really have an effect on him anymore either.

  • What is it called when you use words like Jello, Xerox, Bandaid, Kleenex, etc to refer to things of their type

All are brand names, but we use them to name all things related to them. There's a name for that.

  • Do blood clots always have visible signs?

I am overweight, and have varicose veins. I had a bad bruise on my lower leg a few weeks ago, now I have unexplained pain in my upper leg. There are no physical/visible signs. I am going to get this checked out by the doc, but I'm just trying to ease my mind in the meantime.

  • What to do about suspected food poisoning??

My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich on Friday night from Chic Fil A. Within a couple of hours after eating, he started to have diarhea. All day Saturday, he still had the diarhea and also threw up after eating dinner. At that point he took Immodium. All day Sunday(yesterday) he still wasn't feeling right and very nausaus, so he took Pepto. Today he is still not feeling right, and feels girgling in his belly but can't go thanks to the Immodium and Pepto. There hasn't been any sign of fever, but now I think it's worse that he can't go. How can he reverse what's been done from the Immodium and Pepto so that whatever this is can make its way out?

  • What to do about an infected toe?

On Saturday, my cat ran past me and over my foot. As he pushed off my foot, his nail caught my big toe right along the nail bed on the side. Apparently he punchtured the skin and it was bleeding for a minute or two. I rinsed it off and then poured peroxide on it and then covered with a bandage with topical antibiotic. Now the area just next to my nail is redish and hurts to the touch. I've been soaking with a foot bath of warm water and epsom salt. I don't want to over react and call my doc if I don't have to. Any suggestions as to what else I can do for this and/or when I should be concerned enough to call the doc?

  • What to do about a cat having trouble pooping?

I have a female cat approx 14 yrs old. She went in the litter box and didn't do anything, then ran around the house screaming as if she was in pain. Then she was hiding under my bed with a terd hanging out. Sorry for the details, but it appears she is having difficulty. I'm not sure if it's because she has maybe chewed on our fake Xmas tree, or something else. She cleans herself a lot and always pukes up fur balls. Her belly is wide and the vet says she's healthy, but probably has fur balls that haven't passed one way or another. I don't want to leave her alone in pain, but I also don't want to rush her to the vet if it's something that will pass on it's own.

  • Places to see between Friendswood and San Antonio??

Next month, my husband and I are visiting family in Friendswood, near Houston. We want to experience some real Texas scenery and/or even just an authentic restuarant. Any ideas of where to go during our drive to San Antonio, or even while we're in San Antonio? Last time we went there, we were taken out to Ruth's Chris Steak house, a real disappointment since we were visiting a state we'd never been to.

  • Does anyone else think this is wrong??

This past weekend, my husband and I left our 2 yr old with a sitter while we went out to the movies to see Saw 3. While at the movies, there was not one, but 2 toddlers there in the movie theater. Can you believe that someone would actually let their young child see this movie? I was so upset I felt sick to my stomach.
