Ok, so, rock music has always been more about feeling and expression than real lyricism but you can't deny that good bands with staying power influence further generations of great musicians. Makes you wonder why there's 4 Nickelback songs on the radio, in heavy rotation. They represent what it now means to be an American in the same way Transformers 2 does and they're not even from here. Being a rockstar now means to wear denim and cry with an acoustic guitar about your wife/god/the troops/PAIN and how you are "breaking down" or will "break" soon. Turn on the radio and listen for an hour and you'll see what I mean. Honestly, is there any hope that artists still have a chance to make real music?

People went off on him for saying Hip Hop Is Dead but, really, can you still debate it? Have you even heard the radio lately? In between the same Lady GaGa remix being played all day, you can hear Soulja Boy Tell'em groan out "Turn My Swag On." Ok, so I went to college for media technology in a big city a ways back and it's gotten me to the point where I'm doing security at a call center in a small town. Like some or most of you, I'm at a point in my life where I'm fed up with making single digit hourly dollars and am ready for an actual career. I've been talking to IT techs and desktop support about a possible jump into the IT world of network security. I was told to get my A+ and Network+ before banging out an MCSE and CCNA. That's fine and dandy, I'm studying for the A+ now. But I was wondering: what kind of jobs in the computer science and information technology fields can I get with just my A+? Would that even qualify me for Geek Squad (which I'd so do as well)?

Lived in NYC for 24 years, then moved to Austin, TX (don't know why) to try to get some work in my field, media. Camera op, boom op, non-linear editing, news and film, etc. Well, I miss the city transit, the rain, the bustle of people not making eye contact, and London sounds like my kinda place but I hear it's quite expensive and the housing is downright tiny. What should I know before getting on that plane and how much should I save before I'm ready to survive there?

I'm a non-linear editor from the Bronx who just moved to Austin because it's "2nd in the US for media" only to find that editing is done by the local 700 in LA and 90% of everyone I've met agree with me on "I miss the city. All of the online postings say "apply in person" and I'm 1600 miles away right now. So, I'm gonna have to hit 'em all by foot when I get settled. How hard is it to snag a bartending job?

In the NYC chinatown, there was a place called Penguin Village where you could go to have mods done on your console or get rare imported figures. I just moved to Austin, TX but I got no idea where I'd find a place like that. Does anyone know where in Austin I might find a pre-modded Wii/360 shop or a place that does chipping?
