  • Is the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA a safe place to see a concert?

I want to see Killswitch Engage with Lamb of God in a few months, but I have a few concerns about the safety of a venue in Oakland. I've heard some scary stories.

  • What does the word Tiffauges mean?

This is another word I got from one of the bands I listen too. I'm not sure what the origin is, possibly French or Renaissance era English.

Can anyone help me with this one?

  • What does the word Rivière mean?

It's the title of a song from Deftones, it's the last song on their Saturday Night Wrist album. It's a nice mellow song, but I have no clue what the title means. I think It's French.

    Can anyone help me out?

  • What is the best vocal performance you've ever heard?

This question came to me last night while is was listening to Alice in Chains. I had the song "Sickman" on and (even though I've had this album for about 14 years) was just as amazed as if I'd bought the album yesterday.

Layne's vocals are the best I've ever heard on this song, here's a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58UvGQwA8HI

He hits notes that very few people can.

What about you guys, What do you consider to be the best vocals (from any genre) that you've ever heard?

  • How can I tell the difference between vodka and rubbing alcohol?

I was thinking about this for the past couple of weeks. I am a vodka drinker and what if someone wanted to be a dick and switch my shot of booze with that stuff. How would I be able to protect myself?

  • WTF! I just found out Peter Steele (Type O Negative) died yesterday?

This is the worst news ever. Type O Negative is my favorite band. Life is Killing is my favorite album. I was lucky to see Type O Negative in 2003, in San Francisco, when they toured with Cradle of Filth. I was hoping to hear a new album from them this year, but I guess that will never happen, :(

What are your favorite Type O song, albums, moments whatever

I'm dedicating their song "Halloween in Heaven" to Pete

  • What if Slayer were an Instrumental band?

I got inspired to ask this question after reading an interview with Dave Lombardo. A question was presented to him that asked if he liked it when singers from other bands filled in on vocals when Tom's voice when out a few times. Dave said the thought it sucked and most of the singers don't know the words. He also said he wished that they played an instrumental set of Slayer songs when Tom's voice went out. I thought his answer was very interesting. I think I would be cool to see Slayer once as an instrumental band.

    What do you guys think?

B.Q: Are there any bands you'd like better if the vocals were different or gone completely? (without changing any of the music)

  • What is your Favorite T.V show theme song?

From any time period or country. Send a link if you want, but you don't have to.

For some reason I've had the Sanford & Son theme in my head for many years. I guess that the effect of a catchy tune, lol.

I'm going a little out of my comfort zone by asking this, but I'm running out of metal questions for now. So, I'll ask something slightly different.

  • Anyone go to the Mayhem Festival? It was awesome!?

I went to the show in Mountain View, CA on the 11th and has a great time. Spent lot of time in mosh pits; Stood in line for an hour to meet Killswitch Engage, only to get denied by security. But it turned out good I met God Forbid instead (who i've seen live 4 times). My friend got a guitar pick from Matt Heavy from Trivium (they're ok, I'm not a big fan)

Cannibal Corpse put one of the best performances. Their pit was the craziest. If you call yourself a metal fan you've gotta see them live if you get the opportunity.

Slayer and Killswitch Engage put on great performances (as usual)

But I must say, I was impressed by Marilyn Manson (and I'm not a fan). Between songs he said, "What do you want to be called San Francisco or Mountain View?" (Most of the bands kept trippin out about the city location. on shirts and programs it says San Francisco, but they know they're not in SFC) So then Manson says, "How 'bout I call you Marilyn Manson-ville"

But even better then that was all the pretty, pretty girls that were there.

How was It for you guys?

  • I'm having home stereo problems, can someone help?

The right channel is on my stereo randomly cuts out, only the right side. After each time it cuts out, I turn up the volume knob really fast and loud. This makes the right channel turn back on, this even happens with the speakers turned off while I'm using the headphones. It's a Sony stereo, If that matters.

This has been happening for a while, but I don't know what to do.

  • Who here is listening to the new Cradle of Filth album?

It's ******' awesome and the perfect halloween album. It maybe too complex for most of you, but (metal fans) give it a chance you'll be blown away by it. I've bought it the day it came out, and I took the last 2-3 days to take it all in and all I have to say is WOW! I LOVE THEIR NEW ALBUM (Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder). Even the symphonic instrumentals are great ones, for example "Tiffauges" is a MUST LISTEN.

Best Songs: "The Death of Love", "The 13th Caeser", "Tragic Kingdom", "Sweetest Maleficia", "Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder", "Tiffauges"

Can anyone give me an honest opinion about it? I'd love to hear it.

  • Are you excited that the new Guns 'N' Roses is finally coming out?

I've check the Best Buy web site and they're taking pre-orders, and I went to Guns 'N' Roses official web site and they've posted the title track for streaming. The site also shows a countdown to the release date (Nov. 23, 2008)

I'm excited that the album is going to come out. And to see their official site doing what it's done tells me things are moving more than it was 2 years ago.

  • Do you think there'll be a sequel to No Country for Old Men? ?

I was watching it today, and I can't help but think there will be.

In the end you don't really know what happens to the money (I'm assuming the well dressed Mexican guys took it when they killed Llewellyn) and Anton gets away after he kills the wife (I think he kills her)

  • Has anyone heard of Austrian Death Machine?

I think they're bad-***. As a metal fan, it good to hear great metal with a sense of humor. I love their song "Come With Me if You Want to Live".

  • Why do people believe in government conspiracies?

Over the past several months I've been thinking about the logistics of pulling off conspiracies people think our (USA) government has done.

And I can't help but think they are all just a big waste of time and money (money the government wants to keep for themselves).

It always seems to be a bunch of basement dwelling weirdos making up these wild stories just to make themselves feel valid and make money by selling their documentaries.

The government seems to only want two things: money and power. With the resources they have and the way our system is set up, they don't need to go to much trouble to get either one.

  • Does the current financial crisis make you want to know how the economy works?

I figure the more we know about the economy, the quicker we can spot financial disasters before they happen.

As well as complain to local, state, and federal governments in greater numbers to make sure politicians will get off their asses and help us.
