Cross-fit? Anything I should avoid (running? toning?)

Caught just the very end while waiting for 2 1/2. Did I just hear what I thought I heard? In Spanish. If so, can they really say that word on TV?

And I'm not being mean; she is 10 years old and is "overweight" (though not "obese") on the growth chart. All the friendly neighborhood moms have a stockpile of ice cream bars and cookies for the kids. I hate being the grinchy mom who says no and the loser mom who offers fruit instead!

My son came upon him sunning him himself on a rock in the boulder field at Hickory Run State Park. He describes him as "larger than the one we saw in our yard" (which was 3-4 feet), blended in with the color of the rocks (so much that he almost stepped on him), and with a diamond pattern.

Both my kids have had nasty reactions to bites (two each) this summer. One required medical care (actually all four should have been seen by the doctor but after the traumatic experience the first time- 2 shots in the rump + 3 oral rx's- they refused to go be seen!) We think they must be horseflies, but could be deerflies or something. We are new to this region, so it is highly likely it is an insect they had not yet been in contact with. So WHAT IS BITING THEM??!!

We live in Northeast PA. The bite starts like any ordinary mosquito bite, but quickly spreads much larger. Within a day it forms a hard lump, about the size of the "shooter" in a set of marbles, the redness spreads a few inches beyond the lump, and it forms a pus filled head. The bites are very painful but not itchy. Twice they had a low-grade fever. The area is hot to the touch. In one case, the swelling was extreme. In another case, red streaks formed. After 3-4 days it begins to drain yellowish or green (I mean really green! One of them drained close to the color of the yahoo bar you are looking at right now!) leaving the skin cracked and bruised. It continues to drain for 24-48 hrs before it looks like any other healing bug bite (except for the cracking and bruising).

So please help identify the beast that is biting my children! 2 of the 4 bites occurred during times that kids would not normally wear bug repellent (the other two we can't pinpoint where/when it happened). Thanks!

It freezes in the winter and won't open / close all the way. I just want to disable the motor and use it manually.

The top, bottom, and sides get cut off. I tried "scale to fit" and it still happens. I tried reducing the scale and it made the image smaller, but still cut off the edges.

We keep the litterbox obsessively clean. He has had UTI's in the past, but he is on a strict Rx diet and is not showing other signs of infection (usually he strains, licks himself a lot).

Could it be stress? We are in the process of moving. If stress, what can I do to stop the problem?

This morning I removed something from my son's head. It did not look like the pictures I've seen of deer or wood ticks. It almost looked like a skin tag. It was the exact color of my son's skin (caucasian) and didn't have a distinct shape. It was not actually a skin tag, I removed it with tweezers just as you would a tick and it did not bleed. It smooshed easily.

My kids' school no longer allows cupcakes and sweets for parties. I need a cute idea to send in for a first grade party. Not just carrot sticks or fruit, but some clever creation that will be a big hit with the kids.

We want to go to American Girl, FAO Schwartz... I'd rather not drive in the city. Is there a good station outside the city where we can park and take the metro in? Coming from Philly area.

Born into a Steelers family, married into a Steelers family... you can imagine the size of the party we're having Sunday! Whenever we entertain, my own kids end up having to do a major overhaul on the toy room. This weekend with about 20 kids whose parents are busy paying more attention to the game, how can I keep the disaster to a minimum? We've already moved Legos and other toys with lots of pieces up to the bedrooms. I might also hire a sitter. Other ideas?

Vet prescribed Hill's s/d for 6 weeks then c/d for life, also distilled H2O.

I feed him a combination of canned and dry foods, but truth to be told, he licks the juice out of the moist and prefers the dry.

Specific brands and varieties please. Also what ingredients to look for / avoid.

Can you get a better deal online than at the vet's office?
