  • HIDA Scan Accommodations?

I have to have a HIDA scan done. I have severe anxiety and found out that they normally don't allow your spouse to go in with you. I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and a phobia of needles to the point where I had to be restrained when given a blood test/IV when I visited the ER. Will that give me a necessary excuse to have my husband come back with me?

  • Do Kittens Sneeze When a Humidifier is Running?

My husband and I adopted a kitten who turned out to have developed an upper respiratory infection that manifested as conjunctivitis. We took her to the vet, and she gave us eye drops and lysine treats and told us to put on a humidifier to treat her for coughing or sneezing. The drops are working and she wasn't really sneezing until we turned the humidifier on. Now she's sneezing more frequently, especially while playing. Is there any chance that she's worsening, or is the sneezing a form of her clearing the congestion? I know the humidifier makes me cough to reduce congestion, but I don't know about cats.

  • Dog With His Jaw to One Side?

My in-laws were talking about their thirteen year old Keeshond and suspect that he won't be around much longer. He has early stage CHF, and has had a heart attack before. Recently, he has begun to fall more frequently without being able to get up, and his jaw is crooked, as in the canine teeth on one side of his face is exposed no matter what. There is no pain. Does anyone know what's wrong with him?

  • Control Freak Mother In-Law?

My mother in-law can be very overbearing. When my husband and I moved out of her house, we moved into a little apartment five minutes away from her house. That was a big mistake because I required someone to drive me places since I live in a spread out town that gets over 110 degrees.

Now that we've moved twenty minutes away, she wants us to go over to her house at least a couple times a week. Just today she complained about how she hasn't seen us for a couple weeks, even though we just went on vacation with her two weeks ago and saw her at a meeting we both attended. We explained that my husband had to work this weekend, and she guilted us about saying that we could not come over and visit her.

I understand that my husband is her only child, but it's driving us nuts. Neither of us wants to say no since she is, after all, his mom, but on the other hand, we also want to be able to do things without his mom. Neither of us reads people well, either, since we are both Aspergian. Does anyone have any insights or advice in dealing with this?

  • Is Feline Distemper Transmittable When the Cat is in Remission?

My husband and I are looking at adopting a kitten. We found one kitten that we really liked, but it says on her information that she has recovered from distemper. We have two cats and are very concerned that distemper is transmittable even in remission. Is it transmittable or are we being nervous over nothing?

  • Do I Need to Get the Law Involved?

My great great grandmother died thirteen years ago and left me some glassware. Her will stated that I was to get it after I moved out of my parents' house and had my own home. I moved into my first house in December, and was in an apartment before that. I had asked my parents, who were given the glassware by the executor of the will for safekeeping until I became eligible, to take it down. They never did. Now that I have my house, they are refusing to give it to me because they think I have too much glassware.

I am very young and inexperienced in legal matters, and even less so in social matters. Should I contact the executor of the will? Should I get a lawyer? How do I manage to get what is legally mine?

  • If you put a contingent bid on a house, can you still bid on other houses?

My husband and I found a house we really really like, but it is listed as active contingent. We want to put in a contingent bid, but I am afraid if we find another house that is comparable, active, and in a better location that we won't be able to make a move on it.

  • Why Do Geese Nip the Back of People's Legs?

My husband explained that the origin of the term "goosing" as a person coming up to another person and pinching their bottom or the back of their leg is from the fact that geese do the same thing, so you have to always make sure a goose isn't coming up behind you. Why do geese do this?

  • How long has a house been infested when you start seeing mud tubes on the interior walls of the house?

My husband and I just discovered mud tubes on the interior wall of our apartment. As future home owners, we want to know how long a house has been infested before one sees this phenomenon so we don't spend thousands in repairs on a house with severe damage on top of what we will already be paying.

  • Anime Show I Can't Remember the Name of?

It was about a bunch of girls who lived in a house together. They all sprouted wings from their backs after being hatched as teenagers from eggs inside a closet. The characters were named after the things they dreamed about while incubating in said egg.

  • Identifying Screech Owl?

We have a small owl hanging around our property in Southern Arizona. We know it's a type of screech owl, but we don't know if it's a Western screech or a Whiskered screech. I am the only one who has heard it call, but to me it sounds similar to the sound made by someone cracking his knuckles. Can anyone identify this bird?

  • Does mental retardation prevent military service?

My younger cousin has been talking to Marines recruiters and is interested in joining. We want to support him, but we don't want him to get his hopes up, since he has a 75 IQ, the emotional age of a ten year old on a good day, and severe ADHD that, despite his refusal to take it, needs stimulant medication at 20 years old. I know that things like heart murmurs can prevent enlistment, but I am unsure of any mental conditions or disabilities. Can anyone tell us if there is a possibility that he will be accepted as an enlistee? By the way, I am not attempting to troll; this is a legitimate question that requires a legitimate answer.

  • New Zealand Immigration?

My fiance and I are talking about eventually immigrating to New Zealand. To cut to the chase, I have been considering getting a formal diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome. However, my future mother in-law is telling me that I shouldn't because New Zealand doesn't allow people on the autistic spectrum to immigrate. My fiance tells me it's preposterous, but I want definitive proof that it won't hurt my chances of immigration.

  • How old are Shih Tzu and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels...?

When the bones in their skulls fuse together?

My parents got a Shih Tzu/Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix for my younger sister a year ago from a local breeder. She only weighed a 1 1/4 lbs when they got her and her skull bones hadn't yet fused. She is now a healthy eight pound dog; we just want to know if she was younger than twelve weeks old when my parents bought her.

  • Himalayan Cat feeding issues.?

My fiance and I adopted a three year old Himalayan cat from our local animal shelter in October. Due to problems with her GI tract, we started giving her wet food every day with enzymes to help her digest her food better. When we went home from college for Christmas, we started feeding her the wet food that my fiance's mother was giving her three cats. At first, the Himalayan cat loved it. Once we got home, however, the cat started sniffing and then burying the wet food upon either my fiance and I feeding her. We don't know how to get her to eat it, because if she doesn't she gets gassy and unapproachable. Does anyone have any advice?

  • Are African violets edible?

I know violets and violas are edible, but I don't know about African violets. What I do know is they make a lovely blue color in water, and I wanted to make food coloring out of them due to allergies to food coloring and a hard time finding a nice blue.
