7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agowhy does a submersible pump not need a foot valve?
A submersible well pump does not have a foot valve, but needs a check valve at the surface, so does the water remain in the intake pipe when the pump is not running or does it flow back into the well leaving the feed tube dry? this pump is installed in northern Ontario so freezing is a concern.

When I try to open certain documents that I have copied from e-mails, I now get a window open up saying that " WordPerfect X5 " has stopped working, and windows is looking for a solution, this has been happening for two weeks now and still no fix, I don't remember doing anything on my own that would have created this problem, and when I go into Installed Programs, WordPerfect X5, is still listed as an installed program. 1 AnswerSoftware8 years agoWhy does my wood stove smoke when i open the door?
When I open the door on my air-tite wood stove a puff of smoke will billow out filling the room, the chimney and flues are clean and not restricted, and above the roof line, is there a problem with the stove or am i doing something wrong, also cannot keep the glass in the door from blackening with soot, I burn dry seasoned hardwood only and the stove works fine other than the smoke problem

8 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoWhy do the auto manufacturers install those ridiculous "European Style" driving lights.?
Why are north american auto manufacturers putting those ridiculous and aggravating high intensity driving lights on their products, all they are good for is blinding on-coming traffic and drivers who are ahead of the vehicle, they make no difference in the ability of the driver to see up the road as they are never aimed properly, and if they were they should be on a dimmer switch the same as the high-low switch which is a requirement on all vehicles, and the fine for not dimming them should be the same as for not lowering the high-beam lites

5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHere is is one for all you electricians, volts measure what? amps?watts?
I'm having a 60 year-old brain freeze, been 43 years since High School shop class, I can't remember what is measured by volts, amps, or watts, the only thing that I remember is that ohms measure resistance, Not really important just want a refresher.
I know that one measures volume, one measures pressure, and then what?
