Introducing my new kitten to my cat?
I have a cat I ve had for a little over a year and decided on welcoming another into the family. Today is the first day they ve been at the apartment together. I have to newcomer set up in the bathroom with all the necessities and toys while my resident kitty is having free roam of the house. Both of their food dishes are by the door but my first cat doesn t like treats or wet food so I can t really use food to make her like the new kitty. The new girl is settling in just fine but my other is not so happy, which I expected but not to this extent.
She has been hiding in the closet all day and has even been growling and hissing at me which she has never done before. Is there any hope for her to accept the new kitten into the household or am I doomed to have her pissed at me for forever?

1 AnswerHorses6 years agoGetting crappy fake tile shiny and clean?
I recently moved into an apartment and unfortunately the kitchen has crappy fake tile floors. The kind that have no grout and just sit right next to each other, much like the kinda I had in my schools growing up. It appears as though the last tenant didn't clean much before they moved out so I'm deep cleaning everything.
I've trued swiffering the floor and using Pinesol but neither seemed to get it really clean or shiny like I want. Any tips to get it sparkling would be much appreciated!
1 AnswerCleaning & Laundry6 years agoAdvice for a friend?
A friend of mine is asking for my help and I'm not quite sure what to tell her.
She's 20, and her 18yr old boyfriend is about to graduate from basic training for the army. They just found out he's going to be stationed in Korea for 2 years.
He wants to get married so they can live together and she's strongly considering doing the same but she wants my advice on the matter. So far, I've only told her that it's her decision and I can't make it for her.
She believes he's "the one" but isn't sure about marriage and moving to the other side of the world. As well as having to leave college.
What should I tell her?
2 AnswersMilitary7 years agoKeeping a new car new?
I recently got a brand new 2013 Nissan Sentra. This is my first new, not used vehicle and need some tips on how to keep it new.
I have washed/waxed it, scotch guarded the interior and got rubber floor mats to put over the carpet ones to protect them.
Anything else I can do to keep it new for as long as possible?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoFirst oil change for car?
I recently got a new 2013 Nissan Sentra. I'm following the recommended maintenance plan that came with the vehicle, and it says to use 0-20 oil or 10W-30. Which should I use? I've never heard of 0-20 oil. Also, synthetic or traditional?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoHorse not eating his hay?
I have a 20 year old Arabian gelding. Tuesday, he got his shots and coggins done, Wednesday he had his teeth floated. (They were NOT power floated) After getting his teeth done he was eating really weirdly, and left some of his breakfast Thursday morning, which is really unusual. That night, we gave him some bute and beet pulp to help him out. He ate his grain better, and is eating it normally now, but this morning almost all, if not all of his hay was still in his stall, and he had only pooped in it once overnight.
He has always been a good eater, and never leaves food. He isn't showing any signs of colic. No rolling, biting, and has normal gut sounds that are equal on both sides. Could he still just be in pain from getting his teeth done? The lady that did them (who also did them last year, and he was fine after) said he may eat funny for a few days, but I didn't think that meant he wouldn't eat at all. The hay is the same hay he's been getting and nothing else has changed.
Should I give him some more Bute tonight? And perhaps soak his hay? It really worries me that he isn't eating his hay since it's so abnormal. I tried calling his vet (I live in a small town and there is only 1 equine vet) and he was out on an emergency call and is supposed to call me back this afternoon.
5 AnswersHorses7 years agoMy gelding is agressive towards his paturemate?
I have an 19 (soon to be 20) year old Arabian gelding. I am boarding him at a self care barn near campus while I am at college. Everything is awesome, except for one thing.
He's pastured with a paint gelding who's 16-17HH (my arab is MAYBE 15) and he constantly picks on him. He doesn't kick or chase him around. But he does bite him on the rump A LOT if the horse doesn't go away once he pins his ears and gives him a dirty look. He'll also herd the horse around the round bale of hay we have out.
The horses he was with before learned fairly quickly to just keep their distance and not bug him and everyone got along fine. But the paint just won't leave him alone. He's such a nosey horse in general, and maybe 5 minutes after my horse bites him, he'll come right back over. AND he doesn't defend himself at all.
The paint's owner is getting pretty irritated when she comes out and sees that her horse has a new bald spot or 5 on his butt, so what can I/we do?
We can't separate them, as there is no way to do so, and we split the cost of putting out a round bale. If the other horse would just give my gelding his space, or defend himself it would be OK, but he's like a big puppy and doesn't understand. We always joke that he doesn't speak horse because he never takes the "back off" signals my horse gives him before he bites. They've been together since August, so it's not like we've just introduced them. Both of us are just at our whits end, and honestly I'm afraid my old man is going to get hurt if the pain does decide to retaliate because he's twice his size.
7 AnswersHorses7 years agoIs it worth spending the extra money to get Professionals Choice boots vs. Tough-1?
I was going to purchase my 20yr Arabian gelding some SMB boots because we have started going to "play days" where we do various speed events (Although we definitely don't go for speed. LOL.) and I am also hoping to go to a few endurance rides this year (We have been to many before, I am just in college now without a truck/trailer, so it is harder to go).
Is it worth spending twice as much on the Professionals Choice boots like these:

Or are the Tough-1 brand boots like this just as good?
5 AnswersHorses7 years agoIs this "weird" and really that big of a deal?
My boyfriend and I are both 20 years old. We started dating our senior year of high school and have been together for almost 2.5 years now despite going to universities 4 hours apart. We are extremely close and have what I would consider a "healthy" relationship and we hope to get an apartment together once I graduate because the graduate school I will be attending is 20 minutes from his school.
Here's where the "weird" part comes in. We're both virgins. I mean we've done "other" stuff. We've just never had intercourse even though he stays with me when he comes to visit.
For some reason my roommate, and several other people I've talked to about it, think it's the strangest thing ever and make such a huge deal about it. Is it really that big of a deal? We've talked about it but agreed that it should happen at the right place at the right time so it's "special". Had we not been dating for so long I would thing he was just saying that. But after 2.5 years we still feel the same.

1 AnswerPhysics7 years agoHorse ate HALF a mineral block?
I'm taking care of a friend's horse for her while she is away for a couple weeks.
Last night I put a small mineral block, one about 4 pounds or so, like this:
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/american-sto...
This morning when I got to the barn, half of it was just GONE. I'm assuming he ate it because I can't find the missing half.
Is this safe? The other lady at the barn said he must be lacking minerals in his diet if he did in fact eat it, and to keep a block out for him. I double checked, and it's not a flavored block and doe not contain molasses. It's just salt and minerals exactly like the one above.
6 AnswersHorses7 years agoShould I give in and do my roommates dishes?
I could probably write a novel about all the roommate issues I've had the past 3 semesters at university. But long story short, the roommate I have this year is the only one that had not moved out of our 4 bedroom dorm room after last year. This year we are in a 2 bedroom together.
She's all but moved out and is living with one of her teammates. She'll come in maybe once a week or so just to get stuff and leave.
There have been a few cups and a Tupperware thing of hers in our sink since around Thanksgiving time.
Should I give in and just do them? She used to get POed at me for not taking out the trash (which she would fill with food out of her fridge and then leave) which would "make it stink" so I was trying to make her see that the "smell" was her fault but obviously that's not working since she's never here anymore.
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships7 years agoBrand of frozen pizza that will fit in minifridge freezer?
I'm in university, and all I have in my room is a mini fridge that has a separate freezer part at the top.
Like this:

I feel really silly for asking this, but does anyone know of a brand of store bought frozen pizza that will fit in the freezer portion? I have bought DiGiorno and Red Baron, neither of which fit.
I really don't feel like being weird and measuring pizza boxes at the store to see if they'll fit, so does anyone know what could work?
5 AnswersOther - Food & Drink7 years agoBesides a savings account what is the best place to put money to earn interest as fast as possible?
I just received a refund of about $2,800 from my university. After buying books and everything for this semester, I should have about $2,500 left.
I also have a part time job where I make about $650 a month which easily pays for my groceries and other expenses for the month so I really have no need for the $2,500 I will have left over.
What would be the best, and safest thing to do with the money? I will more than likely need it for graduate school in the fall of 2015 so I want to put it somewhere where it is accessible should I need it, although I do have quite a bit of money in my savings and checking accounts already.

A crate with mass m=33.3kg is being pulled across a horizontal floor by a rope at an angle 22.2 degrees above the horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate a floor is u=0.444. What is the magnitude of the tension in the rope in order to keep the crate moving at constant speed?
Make a free body diagram, force table and write down the appropriate formulas resulting from the force table.
