Who should I write my essay about?
I'm taking a college level creative writing class and I have to write a profile on ANYONE. A profile differs from a biography in that I can just write about a specific time in the person's life, or a specific issue, etc. So one way to decide is to think of a great/horrible event in history, and pick a person involved in that...? I am the most horribly indecisive person ever and I can't decide. A political figure? A sports figure? A historical figure? Can't decide on even that because I'm interested in all of it! My mind is blank and any new ideas would be appreciated!

for the Presidency? Shouldn't that conversation be reserved for Rudy Giuliani? Or even Fred Thompson?

10 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoHave I got it right now, Republicans?
So it's alright for the government to intrude on our private lives with things like who we can marry, abortion, the Patriot Act, and where we can practice dissent (protest zones); but when the government intrudes on us to help the elderly and the least among us with things like health care, welfare and other social programs, that's not OK??
27 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhen will enough be enough in regards to our food coming from China?
...or the fact that we inspect almost none of it?? We talk about securing the U.S., but our food supplies are able to come on in with only 1.5% of it getting inspected (not to mention our open water lines). How much of our food and products from China are we going to allow into our country when these health scares continue to happen? Spinach, beef, pet food, Thomas the Tank Engine and his lead paint, now toothpaste, etc. The government spends tons to pay farmers here subsidies, then they go get it cheaper elsewhere; but even though it's cheaper, when will the bad out weight the good? Lord knows where this food is coming from, what sorts of places it touches, etc. Why don't we make more of our own products/food so that we're able to know where it's coming from and if it's healthy?

10 AnswersOther - Europe1 decade agoAnyone listen to internet radio? You won't be soon...?
...a bill was passed about a month ago saying that internet radio companies have to pay royalties that are about double their profits. The companies are set to go bankrupt as of May 15th. If you're like me and spend 8 hours a day starring at Excel spreadsheets and contracts (anybody?) and depend on music to get you through the day, sign the petition or call you rep to co-sponsor HR 2060! And if you don't listen to internet radio, check it out. This site's awesome... http://www.accuradio.com/# [I'm partial to Future Perfect and Modern Rock classics :-) ]
3 AnswersMusic1 decade agoGarbage disposal won't turn off...?
My disposal wasn't turning, so I unplugged it, did the broom handle trick to free the blades, then (and I think this is where I f'ed up...) I hit the reset button before I plugged it in. So, when I plugged it in, it started running, but won't stop unless I unplug it. Do I need to somehow get the reset button popped out, or what?!?!
12 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIt Dick Cheney mentally unstable?
Why else would he STILL be trying to convince people that there was a link between Saddam and al-Qaeda, even though Pentagon reports say otherwise? I thought it had been well established that al-Qaeda was not the reason we went into Iraq...?

13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHas anyone looked into what pregnant women do to themselves in countries where abortion is illegal?
Does this look like a better alternative than having abortions be legal? Also, please explain why just teaching teens abstenance does anything to lower the number of abortions being preformed. If the goal is to lower the number of abortions; wouldn't teaching safe sex (along with abstenance) be the way to do that? Is it really realistic to think that all teens will wait until marriage to have sex? Did you?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoBeer drinkers - Sierra Nevada question...?
Has Sierra Nevada always had a IPA? I've never seen it before until recentley, and it has "2007" on the bottle, which leads me to believe it's new (I saw on their website that it's a sping seasonal). I'm very familiar with their beer & I love IPA's -so I'm just shocked that I wouldn't know if Sierra Nevada has one or not...

Blackwater USA was hired to train the Iraqi police forces. If our troops have to leave, will Blackwater stay behind to continue training Iraqi troops?
