Does being Christian make you a better American?
Do you believe that if someone is not Christian, that they don't have American values?
I'm asking this because there seems to be a lot of people basing their political answers on Christian values. I was curious because I'm not Christian and it seemed like many people still thought it was OK to make some decisions for me based on their beliefs. My answer to my own questions would certainly be NO!! I was just curious to see how many people actually belived this.
'Right you are Ken' - my dad also went to Catholic school...it did the same to him...
OK, glad people aren't completely loosing their minds... I was getting worried.

Not at all!
Religious freedom is the very core value of this country's founding.
Saying one religion is better than another shows a LACK of American value.

One does not need to be a Christian to be a good American although to hear some people you would think it is that way. They just want to cram their religion down your throat and mine. I for one won't let them. I am a Christian but I also realize that other religions have many of the same values we do. Those values are taught differently but they exist. Often people are quick to criticize that which they do not understand and so it is with many of those who pose questions regarding Christianity vs. any other religion, for example. I know athists that live by better and more Christian values than some Christians I know. So saying you are a Christian doesn't make it so. Live it and be the example but don't force it on others and we'll all be better off. No being a Christian does not necessarily make one a better American.

Of course not. Freedom of religion remember. That means freedom for all, christians as the majority but also everyone else.
But it isnt right that one persons claimed religious beliefs should interfere with others.
For instance this silliness like not calling a christmas tree a christmas tree because it might offend someone who isnt christian is ridiculous.

I believe it makes me a better person and as such a better
American. Christianity is faith and belief in Christ. American
patriotic values are values one attributes to America and
certainly non-Christians can be very good Americans

Going off the news headlines of our day it seems maybe even more values.
Seems most high profile Christians are bigots, hypocrites, adulterers, pedophiles and/or closet homosexuals.
*Don't hold it against religion though, it is "man" not God being that way.

Yes and No.
Good enough question, but you are going to get many answers from people who confuse Christianity with Religion.

as a Christian, one has moral teachings and these make for a better person not a better American!

I went to catholic school for nine years, they drove the christian right out of me. No and no and get real.

Not necessarily on either case. You could be Agnostic, Atheist, Jewish, Muslim, Budist, or any other religion and still be a moral, good american.

No, I don't care what beliefs someone has, I judge the person not religion.
