Why does everyone think they're persecuted?
I really want to know. Many members of all belief or non belief systems (theists, atheists, agnostics, spiritualists, EVERYONE) seem to think that they are especially persecuted. What is your reasoning, if you are among these?
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHave you ever thought about what you have in COMMON with those of different political/religious views?
I say this because I've noticed that, when someone is nasty with me in a political question or situation, I can look at their answers to questions in any topic OTHER THAN religion or politics, and find that they respond exactly, or almost exactly, as I would a lot of the time. It's strange to think of someone, or have someone else think of you, as so ignorant, only to find out how much you actually agree on. Thoughts?
9 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDems AND Republicans-which of these candidates are you currently favoring?
DEMS: Clinton or Obama?
REP: Giuliani or McCain?
Feel free to express if you plan to vote outside your usual party affiliation. But keep it to these four, please. If you don't want any of the four, please don't answer.

I'm guessing they don't have access to much media...or textbooks...or reality...

And why? Do they look like you? Details, please.
6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy is it so crucial to you to prove other people's religious beliefs wrong?
I only ask because the way I see it, the most important thing is that a person feels settled and comfortable and at peace with what they believe. I don't understand why so many people feel this desperate, irrespressible urge to prove the faith (or lack there of, as the case may be) of others wrong. Why do you care? I know many religions teach evangelism and "spreading the message", but in all honesty, it's no one's business what people believe, and I find it scary how passionately some people will fight to instigate a fight over something that, really, is quite personal. Until someone can prove beyond an iota of refutability (I think I made that up) that a particular way is correct, shouldn't we respect the paths of other people?
I'd like to avoid the "I don't do that!"s. This is not an accusation. It's a query for the people who ARE like this. Not the ones who aren't.
26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAny suggestions for temper tantrums at the end of playdate?
My three and a half year old daughter is, in general, very easy going and well behaved. We have always stressed consistency with our discipline. However, since I have been working part time, she has been staying with a friend of mine every afternoon for two hours. My friend has two kids that are my daughter's age and younger. She has so much fun that she throws a fit when it's time to leave. The first few weeks, I took away privileges immediately after getting home. It worked once or twice out of about 3 weeks. I then tried spanking. COMPLETELY inneffective. These are punishments that work in every other behavioral situation, and the lack of effectiveness here is frustrating. I feel like maybe I'm too close to the situation and cannot see the obvious solution.
Please do not say "Bust her butt!" or "You're the parent-make her mind!" It's not helpful or appreciated. My child is not a problem child-she just doesn't handle leaving play time well.
9 AnswersParenting1 decade agoDo your children play with Melissa and Doug toys?
I just wondered what other mom's and dad's thoughts were on these. Also, which ones have you found to be particularly enjoyable/beneficial, and can you recommend a similar brand of toys?
5 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoHave you read "Shopaholic and Baby" yet?
It's cute. I hope Sophie Kinsella continues Becky's story. I enjoy escaping in some good old British Chick Lit.
What did YOU think?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIs it really "free will" if...?
god's gonna get pissed off everytime we don't choose what he thinks we should?
Cause see, I think that if we truly have the gift of free will, and there is, in fact, a god, then by giving us this "free will", he would be encouraging us to question our faith and find answers for ourselves. You know, rather than just believe anything we're told by our parents or the church we were raised in (and had no say in choosing).

Personally, I am thrilled. I hope she ends up as a full time, permanent character.
2 AnswersTelevision1 decade agoWhat is Christine's (from Phantom of the Opera) vocal range?
I don't want Sarah Brightman or Sierra Boggess or any of the actress' range-just bottom note to top note for the CHARACTER of Christine. Ten points for the first person to accurately answer it and provide a source so that I KNOW it's accurate.
4 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoWHAT is this FREAKING song???
I am having the brain fart to end all brain farts. I cannot remember ANY lyrics or the artist's name. But the video starts with a girl crying and freaking out and packing a suitcase and looking at a newspaper. She leaves, and you think she's leaving her boyfriend. But when she gets in her car, she sees him chasing her in the rearview mirror. She gets in an accident and dies, and you discover that he, too, is dead. I LOVED this song a few years ago, and I cannot believe I can't think of who it is or what it is. Ten points to the first person to answer it for me!
1 AnswerMusic1 decade agoWhat are you hoping to get for Valentine's Day?
6 AnswersValentine's Day1 decade agoWhat was the best community theatre, college, or high school production you've ever seen?
Please don't say, " I saw Wicked on Broadway and it was sooooooooooo good!" Broadway is not community theatre, college, or high school.
I'd love to know the name of the show, who put it on, and where. Thanks!
11 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoDo you think Isaiah Washington from Grey's Anatomy is going to end up...?
being fired and written out of the show? There is a lot of talk swirling that it's inevitable, but without disclosing my OWN opinion, I want to hear yours.
And I know many people will not read all this and will respond with irrelevant answers and nonsense or attacks on me because they will assume they know my opinions. So DISCLAIMER: The opinion of the "asker" is in no way represented here.
