My sewing machine starts sewing as soon as I turn it on, why?
I am new to sewing machines and just got one. I've managed to thread it, and even transfer some thread onto the bobbin. However I think I've done something wrong or something is wrong with the machine. As soon as I press power, it starts sewing. I don't even have to press the foot pedal. This can't be right.
I've got a Singer 5430C if that helps.
Thanks!

Just like the title says... My husband bought me an ipod shuffle, and took my regular mp3 player. I have no idea about ipod. Can I put my regular mp3's on it or do I actually have to purchase songs from itunes? No idea how this works, any help would be appreciated.

1 AnswerMusic & Music Players10 years agoIs it ok to ask people to bring their own lawn chairs to a bridal shower?
I am throwing a bridal shower for a friend in June. I have enough outdoor seating for 11. There will be about 25 people coming. Is it ok to ask some people to bring an outdoor lawn chair? It's an outdoor shower, luau themed. So it's a fun shower, not a prissy tea cup shower. lol
Btw, I know not a wedding question exactly - but I have no idea where else to post this.
Thanks!
6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoHow to address a wedding invitation?
For a married couple, usually it would be something like "Mr. and Mrs. John Smith" ... the question is, can it be "Mr. and Mrs. John and Sylvia Smith" ??? I like the idea of having the woman's name out there, she is a person on her own, not just her husbands wife. When I got married I used the first option, but this is a question for a friend. Would love some help.
Also, for a couple who are dating but not married, what is the criteria on listing their significant others on the invitation instead of writing guest? Does it matter how long they've been dating, if they live together, have children, lol, Ideas?
Thanks!!
5 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoBridesmaid troubles! What would you do?
I am the maid of honour in my best friend's wedding. She is getting married at the end of July. I started off chatting to the bridesmaids in facebook, but then one girl asked that it be moved over to email so she could chat too (she can't access fb at work) ... So I did.
So I sent out a BIG email concerning the bachelorette party 3 weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back from the one girl. It took two other reminder emails for the other girls to respond. I just sent out a big email concerning the bridal shower and I can just see it now - this one girl wants to ignore! Some back story is that this girl is also getting married in July, and my friend is a bridesmaid of hers as well. I think there was an argument between them about appropriate shoes and whatever.
What would you do? I just emailed my friend for this girls cell #. Should I text her nicely and ask that she reply to the emails or be like wtf? do you not care? I don't want to cause drama but I have a life too, and a family. The rest of the bridesmaids are single. Not saying that's an excuse, just saying we all have lives, you accepted to be in the wedding. At least have the decency to respond to me?!!!!! lol... Yes, a bit of a vent too, oops.

9 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoIs it ok to invite people to a bridal shower if they are only invited to the wedding reception?
I am hosting a bridal shower this summer. I am curious about the guests, and who to invite. There are some people who the couple are inviting to the ceremony, dinner and reception and then another set of people are being invited for just the reception. I feel that it would be ok to invite them to the bridal shower in that case. If they declined, that's fine but I would prefer to offer the invite than be rude and not.

5 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoHow can I help a 2 1/2 year old get over their dislike of the potty?
I watch a little girl who is 2 1/2, and a few months ago she was all excited to sit on the potty. Her parents wanted to potty train her despite her never peeing on the potty. They went straight to underwear and she really did miserably. I suggested that she just wasn't ready, as I know she wasn't in the first place. My daughter was potty trained at 2 and was VERY easy. Took wonderfully to it. I know that's not the same for all children. I was hoping that they would learn from each other, but now that my daughter is using the toilet and such this little girl still shows fear of the potty. I was just changing her diaper and asked her if she would like to try and sit on the potty and she begun crying for Daddy. She cries for Daddy whenever anything goes wrong though so that's of no importance. Apparently she's doing this at home too.
Any ideas for me?

7 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoDo you give out reciepts/claim when you do home child care?
I am going to stay home with my daughter and do home care instead of going back to work. I am curious if I should give the parents receipts and claim the money I make, or just do cash.

1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoear piercing infection?
I got my daughters ears pierced 5 weeks ago and have been using the cleaner that they gave us at People's to clean it twice a day. Now today her right ear is a bit red under the earring. It doesn't appear to hurt her, but what should I do? She's got a doctors appointment already scheduled for Thursday, I will certainly mention it to her doctor then, but is there something I do for her before then other than using the cleaner?
Thanks in advance!!!

6 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWho remembers this 80's childrens show?
All I can remember is a yellow house, the windows were eyes, and the house talked. There was also a big reccord, with big white gloves that danced holding wooden spoons, lol. That's all I got. Anyone?
1 AnswerOther - Television1 decade agoWho remembers this toy from the 80's? and what it's called.?
I remember these toys that I had... like a horse with a key that opened up the saddle and you could put stuff in it like necklaces and bracelets. There were other animals in the set as well. I just now remembered them. Anyone else?

6 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoRed heels acceptable?
My daughter's christening is next Sunday, and I bought a really nice dress for it. It's black, white and red, formal dress and goes just past the knee. I'll be wearing ruby earings and a ruby necklace. I have never worn red heels, but I would like to. They would really go well with the dress I think, but the issue is.... this is a Catholic Christening, in a church. I am more of a black shoe kinda girl, and sad to say have always seen red heels looking a bit slutty, lol. Are red heels acceptable?
19 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoweeks compared to months pregnant?
Alright, feel funny asking but I'm curious. I am just over 15 weeks pregnant, and i thought 16 weeks marked the 4 month mark, but a girl on another website assured me that 14 weeks marked the 4 month mark. But according to that you'd be pregnant for 10 months and 2 weeks, lol.
Alright,anyone know the deal?
Thanks !!! :)
17 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoBaby Registry?
I'm not due until July, but wondering about a baby registry. I did a registry when I got married, and loved how it worked out, as did everyone else who said it was so easy. Is it lame to have another one for a baby shower? I wouldn't be doing a registry for a few months yet if I were to do one anyways. I know I am going to have one or two baby showers but I don't know if I should just go with the flow and just have people pick out what they want to give the baby. Either way, it's very generous for people to give you stuff for your baby, but I'm just wondering which way I should go.
Thanks for the input!
