Jess
I generally only choose to respond to questions when I think I have something important to contribute that may help somebody else. I've gained a lot of knowledge over the years about psychiatric issues/abnormal psych, psychotropic medications, and (some) neurology. I'm 34, a biopsych student, w/ particular interest in neuro/biopsychology. I have childhood-onset bipolar (II) disorder. I am, unfortunately, intimately familiar with meds & BP, as well as ADHD, anxiety and borderline personality disorder. Much of my life revolves around maintaining stability. I'm also the parent of a child with special psychiatric needs. I am here because I honestly want to help people. If I can do that, all the suffering and struggling were not in vain. Anything I say on here is based on significant amounts of experience & usually research. I have tons of links to reliable resources, which I am happy to share. If I am not certain about something, I will always say so.
How to clean cat pee off a soft velvet bag?
It has satin lining and soft, smooth velvet on the outside. The cat took it upon himself to use it as a litter box and I have no idea what to do. It seems that the only option is to somehow wash the bag, but everything I'm reading online about cleaning velvet says spot cleaning or dry cleaning only.
Any advice?
2 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoSide effects of progestin-only birth control pills?
I'm looking to hear about personal experiences (not "I've heard...") or from health professionals.
Are acne and/or decreased libido/discomfort during sex/ reduced natural lubrication possible side effects of the mini-pill?

3 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoIs there a way to purchase online for somebody else?
I have a strange dilemma. An online friend wants to buy something for me, but I don't want to give out my address (which he totally understands). Is there any way this can be done? He pays and I give them my shipping information? Maybe like a wish list or registry of some sort? Pay Pal?
The store where he first found the item in won't do it, but I feel like this dilemma must come up all of the time, with the amount of people connecting over the internet.
1 AnswerYahoo Shopping1 decade agoWould Thomas Hobbs & John Locke be considered materialists?
I'm working on a short essay for an advanced college course and I'm having a difficult time pulling together my thoughts about the materialist response to the mind-body problem. Can anybody help clarify this for me?
3 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoUsing a slow-cooker (Crock-Pot). How do you know when food is done? New at this.?
It is a very real possibility that I am the world's worst, most-clueless cook. I got a crock-pot for christmas and this is my first time using it...but I suddenly realized I am not sure how to tell if it is done. Please help!
(I swear, only I could screw this kind of cooking up).
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhat is a Type A lightbulb? Just bought a 5 armed lamp and it says use MAX 60 watts TYPE A 120v 60Hz AC?
Does this mean just standard light bulbs 60 watts or less? I just want to verify if this is the case in order to 'reduce the risk of fire'.
I know somebody out there has the answer! Thanks in advance :-)
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow do I clean a down comforter besides dry cleaning it?
Without ruining it, how can you clean a big, high-quality down comforter? Is it even possible? I want to make it white again! (I should have used a duvet, but haven't.) My mother suggested oxyclean. I'm just wondering if anybody has tried any particular method that has worked...or any that did not work and I should definitely NOT try!
6 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoIf you hit a deer, how long do you have to file a claim?
My insurance is State Farm. In 14 years of driving I've never before had to file a claim and I'm wondering how it works. What if you wait too long?
12 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoHas anyone actually made a cake for someone to jump out of at a birthday party? Ever work in a bakery?
I've read all the old questions on the topic but haven't actually heard anything from anyone who has actually made one. I would like the input of anyone who has (maybe the people who asked the question in the first place!) Please be specific.
Also, does anyone know what they use to decorate those fake display cakes bakeries have?
3 AnswersOther - Entertainment1 decade agoWhat to do when school is demanding child get vaccine for illness they already had?
Because her brother already had gotten them, the doctor said she did not need to be seen when she came down with the illness. Now he refuses to write a note to the school saying this and she is going to be kicked out of school in two weeks if she is not vaccinated. A blood test would prove that she has had it, but the child has no health insurance and the parent cannot afford to have the blood test done.
