  • Accidentally watered plant with orange-flavored water. Will it be ok?

So I poured some water from what I thought was a regular bottle of water into a houseplant earlier. Turns out, it was a flavored water drink from Nestle. (Nestle Splash, with supposedly natural flavors)

Is this gonna effect the plant at all? The plant was a gift from a friend, so I kinda wanna keep it alive.

  • How to stop Galaxy S7 battery drain issue?

I got a Galaxy S7 smartphone less than a year ago. The battery life started out fine, but it has suddenly started to go down the drain. I've been having to charge it multiple times a day, it's draining from fully charged to completely dead in less than two hours if I'm consistently using it, etc. Even leaving it sitting on standby, the battery goes much quicker than it did when I first got it.

I've tried turning down the screen brightness, turning on the battery conservation modes and all that jazz, and it's barely helping.

Anyone else have this issue and if so, was there anything that helped it? I need my phone for work purposes, and it's getting to the point it's basically just a shiny brick in my pocket much of the time, since it drains so quickly I can't always use it.

  • How do you handle if it you have multiple cats and one passes away, and the other is seeming distressed looking for them?

We had to make the tough call to put one of our two cats down earlier today after a stint with cancer. His sister wasn't around when it happened (vet came to the house, but she's skiddish so she ran and hid), and she's been starting to notice that her brother isn't around and look for him.

They weren't particularly close cats (they sort-of kept to themselves), but they did have a certain routine in terms of which rooms they hung out in, which one would eat from which food dish, etc.

I'm pretty sure she could sense he was sick and dying, as she didn't come around him quite as much, and was more gentle/submissive towards him the past few weeks than she usually was when they did interact.

What's the best way to handle it? It already broke my heart making the decision earlier and it's breaking all over again seeing her so confused and looking for him. Should I let her work it out on her own? Should I try to be more affectionate towards her than usual? Should I let her sniff/check out the ashes of her brother when we get them in a few days? (We're having him cremated and put into an urn.)

  • How does "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" work/what order do the shows and films run in?

So over the past few years I've become something of a "Ghost in the Shell" fan, in that I have become a big fan of the two anime films and the live-action American remake. (Yes, I liked it for its own strengths, even though the original was better.)

I am curious to check out the other properties.

From what I understand, the two anime films are their own continuity, and then there are two separate series based on the story: "Arise" and "Stand Alone Complex."

I can wrap my head around "Arise" since it basically seems to be 5 hour-long episodes (though only four were released in most countries) and then a feature-film continuation that ended the story arc.

But how does "Stand Alone Complex" work? Is it multiple seasons and films? Is it just a show? And most importantly, are they readily available in R1 on DVD or preferably Blu-Ray? Because when I checked, it seemed that "Stand Alone Complex" was only partially available.

  • Trying to remember name of really bad late-90 s/early-2000 s Mafia parody movie? Don t think it was Corky Romano or Mafia!...?

Back in either the late 90 s or early 2000 s, there was this really bad mafia parody movie they used to play all the time on one of the premium channels. (Like HBO, Cinemax, etc.)

All I remember are a handful of scenes from the end, like a prolonged Scarface parody at a diner party.

I think the gag was the Scarface character was snorting powdered sugar instead of cocaine and randomly firing his gun into the air, and his accent was so thick that every time he tried to say the "f-word", it came out as "fluk" or "fluke"... Can t remember which. It ended with him standing on a railing. The main character pushes him lightly on the back making him fall to his death into a fountain below, before the main character looks over and says "Coooool!" or "Ooooooo!" something like that.

It was super bad... But I kinda wanna see it again, because I remember it made me laugh once or twice. I don t think it was Corky Romano or Mafia!, but I could be mistaken.

  • Dishes taste like soap even after all the soap has been washed off?

We've been having problems with our dishes making foods and especially drinks taste very "off" and sometimes even soapy.

We have a dishwasher, but have also taken to hand-washing dishes as well to try and combat this, and are rinsing and scrubbing repeatedly to make sure all soap is off of the dishes, but it's not helping. It's the worst in our glasses and mugs.

Could it be the water? Our town has had a few boil-water advisories over the past year, but all were resolved. Maybe some areas are just getting bad water still?

  • Do cortisone injections make cats sleepy/groggy?

We just got the sad news that our family cat is dying of cancer, and he s only been given about 2-4 months to live. He s been normal in terms of personality, but has slowly started to get a bit "draggy" the past few weeks. The vet gave him a cortisone injection today, and he s been sleeping and groggy and stumbly since.

Is this a normal side-effect for cortisone in cats? He got one injection before and was a bit wobbly for a few hours, but not to this extent. I think the dose today was slightly higher than the last one, though.

  • Short films from the Sci-Fi channel in the 90's? Giant mousetrap and a fisherman pulled into the water by a hook hidden in an apple?

I remember seeing two short films back in the 90's on the Sci-Fi channel. Looking for titles if possible.

The first involved a man building something mysterious. It was very dark and cryptic. Finally, it was revealed to be a giant mousetrap, which the man uses to commit suicide.

The second was about a fisherman who is sitting on some rocks, fishing away one day. He finds an apple, and takes a bite, only to realize it has a hook inside that is attached to a line coming from in the water. Suddenly, something beneath the surface starts reeling him in, and he is pulled in, killed presumably by some creature "fishing" for people.

    Anyone remember those?

  • Looking for cheesy movie (either action or Sci-fi I think) I saw in the early 2000's?

I remember seeing this cheesy movie on the premium channels (I think it was one of the Showtime channels) a lot in the early 2000’s. I don’t remember much about it, except a few details.

-The movie was stylistically very peculiar. Many shots were at a tilted (usually “dutch”) or otherwise strange angle, there was often not a lot of music (many scenes had none at all), and the colors seemed to always be a bit desaturated, overly contrasted and have an orange tinge to them.

-It was on one of the genre-channels, so I’m assuming it was either an action/suspense or Sci-Fi movie? But there’ weren’t any aliens or anything.

-The main character was a sort-of scruffy, tall Caucasian man wearing a jumpsuit (like a mechanic or prisoner-type one-piece work outfit), and I think he was either on-the-run or had a time limit to get somewhere?

-It was pretty bad, and it looked fairly low-budget, so I’m guessing it was either an indie film, a direct-to-video/tv movie, or a limited release.

-The only specific scene I recall was the main character confronting a fairly large obese man in a near-empty parking lot, the main character kicks the fat-man in the groin, and the fat guy topples over on top of him. It was supposed to be funny, but it was just kind of awkward.

    Any ideas?

  • Good ways to cook flavorful frog's legs?

Bought some frozen frog's legs to try making, since I've always loved frog's legs but have never made them myself.

Tried twice to fry some with different batter recipes, but both times they've turned out completely flavorless and even a bit "watery" inside of the meat. (I'm presuming from either not thawing enough or not having given them enough time to dry after thawing.)

Should I try marinating them for a while before cooking? What are some ways to bring up the flavor? Any general suggestions?

  • Kneecap pain and sensation of water behind the kneecap?

Went on a big hike yesterday at a state park. I figured my knees and legs would hurt, but it is borderline unbearable. My right knee is so bad my boss actually had to send me home from work today.

It's stinging really badly with a sharp needle like pain around the kneecap and it feels like theres a small pool of water right below the kneecap. It's also popping a lot and locking up if I have to go up or down stairs, and my leg has been getting wobbly if I stand or walk more than a few minutes.

Should I go to the doctor? Or should I just take some Tylenol and tough it out. I walk and hike a lot so I'm used to regular knee and foot pain, but it hasn't ever been this bad or debilitating before.

  • Why are banks hours so ridiculous? A mystery I still can't figure out...?

Why is it that the vast majority of banks are only open to the public at the worst possible times? I'm almost 30 and for the life of me, I still can't figure out why, and I know it's caused me and basically everyone else I've known countless problems over the years. (And the only response I can get from anyone older is simply that "bank hours used to be even worse, so consider yourself lucky!", which isn't a real answer.)

The vast majority of banks only seem to be open from 9-4 Monday-Friday (Maybe till 5 Friday) and if you're lucky, 10am-12pm on Saturdays.

Isn't this sort-of preposterous? It's open when the vast majority of people are at work or school and can't go. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to be open, say... 11-6? Or 1-8? Or to open early from, say, 6-10 then open back up from like 3-8?

  • What are some recommendations for good 4K TV's for under $1,200?

Just bought a PS4 Pro and looking to upgrade some of my other home-video electronics. Anyone have any recommendations for a good 4K TV, preferably over 50", for under $1,200?

Was looking on Amazon Prime at the Samsung UN55KU6600 Curved 55-Inch TV, since it falls under my price range ($800 on Prime) and would leave me a little extra I could use to start investing in a soundbar. But does anyone else have any other recommendations?

  • Itchy and some weird marks, but no bed-bugs?

I went to a house I'm going to be renting that has a bed-bug problem. (We were clearing it out for the exterminator.)

We made sure to take precautions, and I went back to my current home, checked everything I had on for bugs and then threw everything in the dryer on high heat for an hour, then took a shower and had a family member check my skin and hair.

It's been about five days and ever since, whenever I'm home I keep thinking I'm feeling something crawling on my skin every so often when I'm in my bedroom and laying down, and have been abnormally itching almost constantly. I've checked and checked again... no signs whatsoever of bed bugs or any other pest.

The apartment I was in was in very bad shape with a lot of garbage. Is it possible I'm just having a prolonged reaction to something I might have been exposed to? Or is it possibly something a bit more benevolent like me just being paranoid about bed-bugs or seasonal skin problems? Any thoughts?

  • Cracked.com says I'm banned on certain computers?

I can access the site just fine on my family's home computer, but everytime I'm at two of my friend's places (which is quite often as I don't have an apartment at the moment and am bopping back and forth between my parents and various friends' places), it always brings up a message saying I'm banned.

Anyone else have this issue and know how to resolve it?

  • YouTube stopped loading on my Samsung Blu-Ray player... Any tips on how to get it to work?

My family bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player about two months ago. It works great, we love it, etc.

Problem is about a week ago, the YouTube app stopped working. It just sits there and loads and loads for about 5 minutes, then gives us a generic error message about trying again later. I ve tried resetting it back to the default setting, unplugging it, etc. Nothing works.

    It s a model BD-J5700

Any tips on how to get YouTube to work again?

  • Upstairs neighbor constantly complaining about noise... But nobody else does and we are trying to be quiet. What can we do?

Our upstairs neighbor comes down to complain about our noise level almost weekly.

No matter what we do, it doesn't seem to help. We turn our TV way down (to the point we can barely hear it), don't use it or other loud things during the night, use headphones whenever possible, etc. And it still isn't helping.

It's getting to the point I had my TV on at a completely normal, acceptable level (aka you couldn't hear it the next room over) at 2 in the afternoon and she still came down and complained.

I don't know what else to do. None of our other neighbors have complained once (and I've asked them about it), and it's getting to the point where it seems we are expected to stay quiet as a mouse 24/7.

I'm about ready to buy her earplugs to leave on our door if I hear her knocking one more time to complain about our non-existent noise.

  • How do prior authorizations come into play if my prescription changes?

I take a medication that requires a prior auth. I m changing the prescription with my doctor next week since the current dosage doesn t quite work on me. Since I am getting a new scrip, will I have to wait before I can get it, or should my insurance be able to cover it before I m done with the last month s prescription?

I have a bit over two weeks of my old prescription left, but since it isn t working, I m hoping insurance will approve of my new prescription before the old one was meant to be up.

  • Lenses for a Canon Rebel T5i: What would be your suggestions for 3-4 must-have lenses for beginner/only-semi-experienced photographers?

I had to replace my Rebel T3i camera, and I loved it's functionality and the results I was able to get with it, so I opted to get a starter-bundle T5i camera pack which should arrive within the next few days.

Myself and my family have been under heavy financial strain as of late, so I was pretty much stuck with the basic 18-55mm lens that came with the T3i. So I spent much of my time learning the basics of the camera functions and developing my artistic endeavors and haven't really looked too much into lenses until just recently.

Now that things are settling down, and I'll have a little more cash to put towards my hobbies like photography, I'd like to start saving up for a few more lenses for the new T5i I'm getting.

If you had to choose, what would be the 3 (possibly 4) "must own" lenses for a beginner/"lightly-experienced" photographer? (I mainly use my camera for event-photos locally, some modeling work with friends/locals, and a lot of little video-production projects.)
