  • About having labor induced?

I'm having my labor induced tomorrow night due to some complications. The doctor has given me a %50 chance of natural birth, %50 chance of c-section. I'm not effaced, not dilated and the baby has not dropped or engaged so I'm wondering if there's any chance of the induction actually working... My mother had a failed induction with my brother and ended up with an emergency c-section. I'm just wondering if there is any point in even trying to induce. I don't want the surgery, but everything I've read said if you're not at all dilated, effaced etc. that induction probably isn't going to work.

Any one have the same experience?

I'm also in South Korea, so my ability to ask questions is pretty limited.

  • What is your opinion on these vaccination studies?

Two new fairly large scale studies show there is no link between thermisol or the MMR vaccine and autism.

What are some thoughts on this? I also think it's interesting that there was a surge in outbreaks of measles, mumps and rubella after the largely discredited study which showed an inconclusive link between the MMR and autism made MMR vaccination rates decline.

Does that show that these diseases are still a threat?

  • Very tender stomach?

My stomach has been killing me for about two days now. It's not a stomach ache, it's that my baby bump is actually really tender to the touch. I'm 34 weeks along and this is a new feeling.

Any thoughts on why this might be? Is it just tender from the usual expanding?

    Thanks.

  • Online Lamaze classes?

I'm trying to find a video Lamaze class series online. I currently live in South Korea and my Korean is "weak" at best so I'd rather not take a class here.

Plus I get stared at enough for being the pregnant foreigner without being "the pregnant foreigner lying on the floor panting".

My husband and I would like to do it in the comfort of our own home.

  • How do I get my baby to turn around?

I've had 2 3d ultrasounds so far (in Korea they do an ultrasound every time you visit the OB) and both times my son has been facing my back so we haven't been able to get a clear picture of him.

My husband and I would really like to get at least one good pic of the little guy before I have him (I'm 29 weeks pregnant).

Any ideas on how we get him to face outward?

  • How do you make the time pass?

I swear I feel like I've been pregnant my entire life! I'm really excited about my son and I can't wait to see him/hug him/raise him but I am SICK of being pregnant! Sick of it! Argggghhhhh! I can't sleep or get comfortable, I'm constantly tired!

I've decorated the nursery, bought tons of baby clothes, washed and prepared my cloth diapers, started the baby book etc. It's like the time is just dragging!

Any advice? Someone please tell me the time will start flying by pretty soon here... I'm at 29 weeks today.

  • Recommendations for slings?

Hi, I'm doing research on what kind of sling to get after my son is born. We definitely know we want to use a sling, we just wanted some opinions on the best kind to get.

    Thanks!

  • Breastfeeding after a breast reduction?

I've been doing a lot of research about this issue. I really want to breastfeed because I understand how important it is but I'm wondering if I'll be able. I had a breast reduction over 10 years ago and I'm not sure how this will affect my ability to breastfeed. I found different sites saying that women can breastfeed (although it may be limited) after having surgery, but I wanted to hear opinions from people who've actually done it or know people who have.

Please no rude comments about breastfeeding.

  • How do I keep my dog out of the trash?

I have a 2 year old black lab/doberman mix who is really sweet and really well-behaved. The ONLY thing I cannot break him of is going into the kitchen and getting into the trash. Any ideas on how I can do this? I've tried just telling him "no", but as soon as my back is turned he's trying to get in there.

I have no idea what else to do. He listens to no for everything else, but the lure of the trash is too much for him.

  • I'm considering a move to Taipei Taiwan and wanted some info...?

How hard is it to find safe, reasonably priced apartments?

    Is the public transportation safe/reliable?

Is it easy to keep pets in the city?

    Is Taipei in general safe?

What are the attitudes towards Westerners?

Is it better to learn Chinese or Taiwanese?

Anything else about living in Taipei Taiwan you can think of...

  • What to do about an over protective Doberman?

My year and a half old dobie is a giant sweetheart. He's friendly, well-behaved and an all around sweetie pie... the only thing is he is VERY VERY VERY over protective of me. If we're walking down the street and someone approaches, he shoves me behind him and bares his teeth. If a friend or aquaintance moves too quickly towards me, they're shoved away with a growl... he has even very occaisonally done this with regards to my husband. He's not agressive, he has never bitten anyone or threatened them. He doesn't act like this with my husband and I'm wondering if there is some way I can get him to chill. He's great with other dogs and kids and people he knows... but I with strangers or people he doesn't know this behavior comes up. Is there anything I can do?
