  • I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Lately, the ABS system has hiccups.?

What I mean is that if I stop a little harder than normal, the ABS motor kicks in as I hear whining near the master cylinder and I can feel the pedal pulsing. Then after a few seconds, the ABS light goes on. My questions are, why is the ABS kicking in? What might be wrong with the ABS? Bad Sensors? The car drives fine otherwise. And since it is a free and clear title with low mileage, I am keeping the car. In anyone's experience, what might be the cost to fix?

  • Just got my car back a SECOND time.?

The mechanic had to replace the front bearings TWICE. The car is a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue.

My question? The parts were Made in China. Is there an American Made company that sells OM parts? These Chinese Parts are JUNK. Same thing in the 60's and 70's when Japan was selling Parts.

  • What do you think of this Blog About the Auto Industry?

After BILLIONS of taxpayers dollars to bail out auto companies "TOO BIG TO FAIL" we have now come full circle and the two automakers that took bailout money "HAVE FAILED". With this, many jobs will be lost due to consolidation of plants and dealerships along with the elimination of brands. And now Chrysler will close yet another plant (that makes motors) and move even more jobs to Mexico and I'm betting GM will do the same. How long do you think it will take Fiat and General Motors to import more of it's cars along with making Chryslers over seas and shipping them into the United State thus closing more American plants and costing more American jobs?

And now for the complicated part nobody has yet addressed. The remaining UAW workers that have survived the deep job cuts for now are faced with their union that owns 55 % of Chrysler and will probably end up with a large percentage of GM. How can a UAW auto worker feel good about negotiating a contract through their union when the union owns part of the company. Do you think the UAW will give up monies for wages and benefits when it will have a direct outcome on the bottom line of the companies they now have ownership in?

And if you're a Ford employee (and since Ford didn't take bailout money) how do you get treated equally? You are asking your union to get you a better wage at contract time, yet the same union has a financial interest in two of the three companies they represent. I see a conflict of interest here and a lot of problems down the road.

  • Need a computer monitor. What to pick?

Okay, so my old CRT monitor is now in CRT land. It was an old 19" Viewsonic. Considered to be the top of the line in it's day. I bought it on Ubid. It was reconditioned and had served me faithfully for 7 years.

Now, my uses for a NEW computer monitor is for mostly Computer Aided Drafting. This is line intensive. Constant updates from the screen is a norm (much like gaming). I also have some uses for spreadsheets, word processing and naturally surfing on the web.

My dillemma? Well, I do have a fixed budget (who doesn't). I do not have a problem with real estate. The bigger the better. But I do not need 24" monstrosities. I have dual 19" regular LCD monitors at work. They are great. I am comfortable with these units. But for home? I was thinking wide screen. Possibly 20 to 22 inch.

What do you people think? What is the best model out there? What would be your first and possibly second choices? Your experiences with your choice?

Oh, my budget? I am trying to stay below $200.00. I have two teenage boys who eat me out of house and home.

  • An Excel Question on If Statements Or something else.?

I have a situation where I have two columns of data Column A is from a result from a formula (We will call the location B11).

Now, the data unfortunately has 15 results. An IF statement can only go up to 7. And I cannot use VLOOKUP as I have to get the data to get greater than or equal to column A If my greater than or equal to euals the data then similar to VLOOKUP, it will slide over to get the value I want returned.

    Here is the columns:

    101 70

    91 60

    81 50

    71 45

    61 40

    50 35

    45 28

    40 25

    35 22

    30 19

    25 16

    20 13

    15 11

    10 8

    5 5

    Two examples:

If my number is 104, I would like Excel to return 70 (From Col 2)

If my number is 76, I would like Excel to return 45 (Again, From Col. 2)

    Oh, one more:

If my number is 40, I would like Excel to return 25 (Col 2 Result).

I really wish my Excel skills were as good as my Autocad Skills. I would not be asking this question.

As always, your help in this will be greatly appreciated.

  • In an Excel Spreadsheet...?

Is there a way of creating a macro where you can start the macro. Have the Macro at a certain cell. Pause until data is put in. Then hit Tab (Or enter) to have the macro go to the next cell. Wait for the person to enter more data, and keep on going until all the data is entered? I know you can do this in Lotus 123. Can Excel do the same thing?

  • I have a Generation 5 IPOD?

My 30 gig IPOD's battery was running down last night. I turned it off. This morning, I plugged it into the AC wall socket charger. I hooked it up to some speakers and hit "Play" on some music. The unit froze and will not play, charge, or turn off. What happened? What is my next step? Is it cooked? And, let's say it is. Can I just buy a new one and plug in my songs on my computer? TIA
