  • Consumer rights: is it lawful for a merchant to continuously lie about a product's delivery date?

I ordered a drum from a group called Kaizen Steel Tongue drums. They're based in Oregon. I've done some consumer rights research but haven't found an answer to my situation. I placed an order with them in September. When I called and emailed to get an update, I was told I'd get it mid-October. Each time, I went through the same cycle. I checked in November, he said I'd get it "before Christmas for sure." No delivery. I checked in again in January, and was told I'd get it by the end of the month. It's March...Each time the same answer is "for sure, for sure, for sure."

I've been patient. I even gently asked the guy to tell me the truth about how long the drum will take. I said it's okay, if he just give me a real estimate. Still, he continued to give bogus answers! I've looked up the drum making process and it shouldn't take half a year.

In reviews, ppl said it took 2 or 3 months to get their drums, but that the drums are very well-made. These kind of drums are rare and I really just want one, so I don't care about the money. But bad customer service irks me.

Would I be able to file a claim against this merchant and get them to treat consumers respectfully? Sending deliveries a half a year later, without NOTICE prior to purchase that the product would take that long, doesn't seem lawful. It also doesn't seem lawful to consistently LIE to a consumer about the product's expected delivery date!

How would a situation like this be handled according to law? Thanks!

  • Can you love Jesus and not love God? No trolls, please?

The big question is always, "can you love God and not Jesus?" I mean...the Jews...but it seems no one asks the other way around. The debate between the love in the New Testament and discipline in the Old Testament still goes strong today. And even as a Christian, I admit, it's hard to hear God's voice sometimes and necessarily feel love for Him...more like reverence. But Christ, when I read His words, its total and complete love and comfort and understanding. I trust what he says. I often have to wrestle with myself to accept the words of the Father. Which is fine.

I know what Jesus's answer would be. "Anyone who denies my Father denies me."

But that doesn't change the fact that I'm still feeling a divide....

  • Why are most atheist answers snarky?

I've heard atheists say that religion is irrational, Christians are brainwashed...

The signs of a brainwashed or close-minded person is one who gives 'facts' without validated proof, speaks logical fallacies with confidence, and doesn't look further into the matter...

I find that many atheists also use these same methods esp. in short, 'funny,' and condescending comments. Wouldn't a true atheist reject this?

  • What's a good song that depicts a tragedy?

To be specific, I need a song that can convey the feelings of a car crash that resulted in death. Any suggestions, please? I'd prefer instrumental or songs with as little lyrics as possible, but anything is good!

  • Why do people who aren't Christian or religious get married?

Just asking philosphically out of curiosity, no animosity intended: If the idea of marriage originated from religion, if the vows make allusions to the Biblical God ("holy" matrimony), why get married if you don't believe in God? Today marriage has become more of a social construction. But at the end of the day, isn't it going against your personal beliefs to go do something that is the epitome of the teachings from a God you don't believe in? When you consider the origins of what you're doing, it just doesn't make sense? Why bother with these formalities?

  • Typical racism in The Last Airbender?

I'm a HUGE fan of the Avatar series(the movie, I was unimpressed with). But after an interesteing project on Disney and it's negatives in publicity, I came across the fact that the bad guys are often played by foreign voices(or voices in non-standard english), or are darker in color. Now, in the series, it is clear that the bad guys(the fire nation) are all pretty much pale, and that people of the southern water tribe were colored. Why is it that the movie switched it around? Why are the bad guys ethnic and the good guys the pale ones all of a sudden? I'm not pointing fingers, I just want opinions

  • Is there a public place where any person can look up their full list of laws and rights?

You know, even if there is a public place, I wouldn't mind having my own personal copy of these things, for reference. Isn't it our right to know?

  • What happens behind those walls?

If walls could talk, what would they be saying? Really think about it, it kind of freaks you out...by the way it doesn't have to be about you...if you're ashamed :)

  • Good places to shop before going to college?

I love fashion and style, but I'm not the kind of person to follow the most obvious and over-used trends. You know, the generic kinds of stuff that girls would buy in sets or off the front racks because they want to be like everyone else and can't coordinate for themselves. I make exceptions if there's something different or irresistable or characteristic about it. I prefer a more mature look. I lean towards a lot of different styles. I'm not really classifiable. Also, I don't want anything too expensive. And I love boots and dresses! Please give suggestions?

  • can this dress be casual? (with pic)?

ok i asked this the other day but people just urged me 2 put up a pic...so here it is. Please give your opinions? I'm putting outfits together for a casual wear fashion show. My opinion was that it could pass but is leaning more towards a church/homecoming look. Someone else called it "the perfect picnic outfit...btw my head is cut off im uncomfortable showing my identity :)

  • Is this dress casual?

Maybe I should include a picture...later...anyway I have this dress that is really bold and pretty, but I want to use it for a casual wear modeling contest. it is strapless with a small modest v-neck. Then from the waist down it poofs out. The print is decorated with roses hot and light pink. it has a small belt with the same print decoration that ties around the waist. Its hard to explain, but then i want to wear it with these wedges that have white straps going up the ankle(because there's some white in the dress). Someone told me it was like the perfect picnic outfit, but im thinking that when I go to picnics I would wear some shorts, or a more casual dress. I think its a borderline church or homecoming dress type thing...what do you think?

  • New Fish Tank Cloudy The Day After?

I just put 2 guppies in a new fish tank yesterday. I'm using them to cycle my tank along with this biozyme chemical stuff to speed the cycle(the pet store said this was okay). I've fed them tetra min once yesterday and twice 2day. The tank was clear yesterday and cloudy this morning(i woke up at 11). I've read that this clouding doesnt come until weeks later. Is this normal for a new tank to be cloudy the next day? I think the tank is cloudy white. Also, one of my guppies is not eating and they are less energetic than yesterday. He likes to stay by the heater. Does anyone know what's going on?

  • What's goin on with my hand? Bleach or Snow?

This has been going on for about 7 days now. First it started out with a raw itching burning feel around my knuckles on my right hand. I think a little bit on my left hand too. It looked noticeably red and if I looked closely I could see very small little red spots like openings in my skin. This was the first night and that day i played outside in the snow until my hands started hurting and "burning" like crazy...but then the next day I did the dishes. When i do the dishes i use bleach, only a little though, and only my right hand is in the dishwater i use to clean with, from about my knuckles down. When i pulled my hands out, my right hand was discolored and pale grey-ish(im black by the way) from my knuckles to my finger-tips. in this area my hands were significantly soggy, my skin a little swollen and saggy, and when i made a fist I could see cracks/openings on my knuckles and joint areas. But the rest of my hand was fine, and my left hand was fine. then it started to burn and make my right hand feel very raw when i ran hot water. I notice some of the same feelings and symptoms on my left hand, thought not as noticeable and only on the right side. Now, the joint area and knuckles on my right hand are super dry and rough and have tiny scabs speckled all over, with areas on the right side of my left hand being the same. So...what caused this?? The snow? Or the water? Could it be the bleach, even though I've been doing this for a while now and never had a problem? Will this problem go away and how can i make it better?

  • Do relaxers change your hair color?

I'm black and I used to have very dark hair, even a little red-ish at times. Now sometimes it looks blond/gold-ish. Is it because of relaxers? Do the chemicals affect your natural hair color?

  • Does it make sense to go to Vanderbilt University even if you're not interested in meds?

I really like it for its location and its take on arts, and it has all the programs that im looking for. But I have absolutely no interest in the medical field. So everyone always asks me why I want to go there, like I'm making a mistake by applying to a "med school". Why is that such a big deal?
