Need to change the way I excercise?
I have been a runner for 20 years. About 15 miles per week in neighborhoods around my home. I am looking for an alternative. I'm 46 and I now live in an area that isn't safe for night running (Farm roads without streetlights). In the winter months its dark when I get home. I've always like running because I didn't have to go to the gym and I get a good workout in 30-40 minutes. Any suggestions? Elliptical machine at home? I really miss the feeling after a good run...and I need the calorie burn.
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness8 years agoI am trying to choose the best overall way to stream internet content to my HDTV (Netflix,Vudo,Pandora), etc?
I know many Blu ray players, Surround systems, and even TVs now come with this capability. However, it seems that each option is limited to the arrangements made by each brand with Netflix or whomever. Is all this going to keep changing for a short time and then soon, all this content will be subscription and available on my TV via cable provider?
2 AnswersHome Theater1 decade agoUpgrading Entertainment System for Internet Content (Netlix, Amazon, Pandora, etc)?
I am seeing many options and I'm curious how others are making the upgrade. Do I buy a Roku, Wi-Fi BluRay? Other? And, should I try to use a Wi-Fi connection or just bite the bullet and wire the CAT 5?
The main reason I am overwhelmed with the choices is that it appears the TVs, Blu Rays, Game Consoles, Roku, Surround, options all allow for different content. I assume they have contractual relationships with Netlix for example.
What are the thoughts on the best way to make this upgrade and get the most bang for the buck. Ultimately, I'd like to cut back on cable services and utilize the web offerings in its place.
1 AnswerHome Theater1 decade agoWhat is the best way to get internet access to my TV?
I have an HD TV in my living room. I want to option to stream videos, movies, television to the TV. I have a wireless network in the house that should easily be fast enough. I see that Netflix, for example, has a short list of Blu Ray or Roku players. But can't I just wirelessly get the signal to a video input? Looking for guidance so that I can stream Hulu, Fancst, Netflix, Network sites, etc...to the Living Room TV where it is comfortable for the family to watch. Also, cost is a concern.
2 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoHelp determining the right mutual funds and risk for my situation?
I am planning to begin investing in mutual funds. Most likely I will open a Roth IRA and invest to the max annually. Then just invest in funds themselves. I'm 42 years old and am generally conservative. I can handle some market fluctuation but I do not want to lose my savings being too aggressive. I've chosen to start with the Roth for retirment but with the flexibility to take out money invested in an emergency. What tools do you suggest to narrow down the options?

I would bundle internet and HDTV service that Time Warner currently provides for me. I also use a DVR. What's the pros and cons of making the swath? I know AT&T is less expensive.

6 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoI have a hard time staying hydrate in the summer. I drinks lots of fluids. What other options might help?
I'm 41, male, run 20-25 miles per week and eat fairly well. I live in Dallas and as I've gotten older, each summer is a struggle to stay hydrated and still excercise outside 4-5 days per week. Water and Gatorade dont seem to work as well anymore. I get more cramps and fatigue than I used to. What options might improve the situation?
9 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agoWhy has zero tolerance become such commonplace in today's middle schools and high schools?
I am referring to drinking/drugs, knives on campus, being at a party with ceratin activites going on. I realize the administration strives for consistency and stern punishment but at what price? Zero tolerance removes common sense from the equation. How can anyone support punishment without factoring common sense for any crime. My guess is it has become politically correct and it lets the administration off the hook regarding what would potentially be difficult decisions.
1 AnswerOther - Education1 decade agoThere is a broken wooden post on the privacy fence in the backyard. Who's responsible for repairs?
I always thought if the posts are on my side of the fence, the fence belonged to the neighbor since they have the nicer, smooth wooden side.
Any advice on how to get this repaired? Involve the neighbor? What it might cost to call someone?
