  • SSS shows incomplete contributions, what can I do so I can take out a Salary Loan?

    [PHILIPPINES ONLY]

I've been working here since Jan 2011 (1 year, 4 months now), and every month, my payslips show that my SSS/Pag-Ibig contribs have been deducted. However, now that I need to take out a Salary Loan, my online SSS records only show contributions from Jan 2011 to May 2011, so it basically says that I've made NO contributions for A WHOLE YEAR now.

I tried to talk to my employers about this, but they're not much help. What can I do to be able to take out a Salary Loan ASAP? I really need it. Do I have to go to an SSS office personally and show them my payslips, and file it with them in person?

    Please help!

  • I'm going to Italy. Can I bring a box of instant noodles with me?

Planning to bring some food items like instant noodles with me as a gift to a friend I'm visiting in Italy. Can I include it in my luggage? Probably a box of it with 24 packs inside.

    Just checking since I don't want it to be confiscated or whatever at the airport. ^^;;;

    Thanks!

  • Proper Italian translation for that passage in La Vita Nuova?

In Dante Alighieri's La Vita Nuova, there's the passage:

    In that book which is

    My memory . . .

    On the first page

    That is the chapter when

    I first met you

    Appear the words . . .

    Here begins a new life

I'd like to know the Italian translation for that, please?

    I'm getting:

"In quella parte del libro de la mia memoria dinanzi a la quale poco si potrebbe leggere, si trova una rubrica la quale dice: Incipit vita nova"

But I'm not sure if it's quite the same. Any native speakers who could help confirm if the Italian version I posted here DOES translate to the English one (I REALLY like the English one and I'm gonna use it, hahaha!)? And if it doesn't, can I have an Italian translation that does? I'm keen on the part that goes,

    That is the chapter when

    I first met you

But when I check elsewhere, the Italian version I posted above seems to say,

"In that part of the book of my memory before which little can be read, there is a heading, which says: ‘Incipit vita nova: Here begins the new life’."

which isn't exactly quite as romantic, I think. :D LOL.

Thanks! All help will be appreciated! ^__^

  • What are the other laundry shops in Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City?

Been living here in Eastwood for a while now, but the only options seems to be Fabricare (which is really pricey) and Clean Scene (which was TERRIBLE service). There has GOT to be some other place that people in Eastwood can call up to have their laundry picked up and delivered. Maybe somewhere in the Acropolis proper? Or something?

    Help. T___T;;;

  • In the Philippines, when 13th month pay is computed, is December included in the computation?

So, say, the 13th month pay is released in NOVEMBER, and the employee has worked there since January, is it computed as (No. of months worked + December)/12*(base pay)? Which translates to 12/12*(base pay).

Or is it just 11/12*(base pay)?

Clarification, reference and citations for this would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know of a cheaper commute route from The Fort in Taguig to Eastwood, QC (Other than via cab...)?

I work at The Fort, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, and live in Eastwood. Having to take a cab to and from work every day is a hassle and it really hurts my finances! Does anyone know of cheaper bus/jeepney routes back to Eastwood from The Fort?

Routes going TO the Fort are also appreciated. Please note that I need to be AT work by 6am, so the Citylink buses are not an option (sigh...)

    Thanks!

  • How can you tell if a Vivienne Westwood bag is authentic? What should I look for?

I'm thinking of buying a bag that is supposedly Vivienne. It's in pink and white stripes, and looks like a bowling bag. The zipper handle is in the shape of a ribbon. A metal orb is on the front of the bag, lower right corner (facing you). Inside, there's a gold metal tag with the VW name on it, and the fabric inside has a repeating pattern of the name "Vivienne Westwood". Can anyone help me determine if this bag is authentic or a fake?

  • What can I make with melted marshmallows, chocolate and crushed grahams?

I have some leftover ingredients in the fridge. What can I make with these three?

About 2 cups of kinda-melted marshmallows, a block of semi-sweet chocolate and a package of crushed grahams, the ones normally used for crusts.

    Recipes, anyone? Thanks!

  • Do you recommend 110mb.com for web hosting?

Do you recommend 110mb.com for web hosting?

I want to create a blog, and I'm considering 110mb.com as a webhost. The 5GB space is free, but I need to pay 9$ for MySQL so that I can run WordPress.

Before I start shelling out money and putting in all my time and effort into building a blog, I need to know is 110MB is as reliable as they say they are. Any personal recommendations or experiences?

And while we're at it, can anyone recommend a cheap place to buy a domain name?

    Thanks!

  • Are there any Philippine laws which state a condominium's responsibilities towards their tenants?

Our apartment got robbed last month, and our condominium's admin is trying to wash their hands of it all. Now, I'm going to have a talk with them this coming week to let them know that I refuse to pay the monthly association dues that they require of us. We've been paying the dues faithfully until last month, so I find it insulting and disappointing that they're now ASKING US FOR MORE DUES and ACTING LIKE THEY HAVE NO RESPONSIBILITY in all this.

What I want to know is:

    - are there any Philippine laws which states that a tenant's security is part and parcel of a condominium's responsibility?

    - is there anything which states what exactly association dues are for, and if security is one of the things that we pay for every month?

I'd really appreciate links and sources that I can print out and use when I have my little chat with admin next week.

    Thanks! ^____^

  • How much does it cost in Php to send money via Western union or Pera Padala to another person in Manila?

I'm in Manila and I need to send money to another person here in the country but she doesn't have a bank account. I'm considering using Western Union or Cebuana Luillier Pera Padala, but I can't seem to find out anything about their rates. I'm trying to send just 750Php, and I'm trying to find out if the service is more expensive than the money I want to send!

    Thanks! ^_^

  • How do you catch or what do you do with an anonymous blog troll?

I currently have an anonymous blog troll on my LiveJournal account who keeps leaving anonymous comments. Thankfully, the filter catches/automatically screens these comments first and LJ's IP logger is on.

I just noticed that all these comments are from the same IP address.

I tried using IP Geolocation tools that are available on the internet, trying my own IP address first to gauge its accuracy, but everything seems to be completely off.

Does anyone know of anything more accurate? And what do you think I can or should do with the annoying anonymous troll?

  • Can you recommend an accurate, free WHOIS IP Geolocation look up website?

Hi, I'm looking for a free, accurate online WHOIS IP lookup site that also has geolocation. I once stumbled on one so many months ago that allowed me to check an IP address and then pinpoint on Google Maps just exactly where that person lives. Unfortunately, I reformatted my PC since then and I lost my bookmarks. :/

Anyway, can someone please be kind enough to point me to a similar site? The Geolocation tool is crucial.

And if you're wondering what I'm going to use it for, I'm currently trying to get rid of a pest on my blog. Hehehe... Thanks!

  • Anyone know where I can get 4 Lord of Atlantis cards (Magic: The Gathering) here in Manila?

Am currently trying to get hold of 4 copies of Lord of Atlantis (hopefully the time spiral version, and in mint or near-mint condition) but I can't seem to find any shop here in this country that sells the darn cards, and I'm not willing to purchase a whole box which doesn't even assure me of getting the cards that I want.

Anyone know of a good supplier here in the Philippines? I can't get hold of anyone from NeutralGrounds either.

    Thanks!

  • How can you keep your non-stick pan, well, NON-STICK for a long time?

I love my non-stick pan, but recently, I've noticed that it's starting to stop being non-stick, and just cooking an egg on it is turning out to be a pain. It's really frustrating.

I've only been using this pan for about 8 months, so I need to know if this is the average lifespan of a non-stick pan, or if it's possible to make it last much longer than that.

I've followed the rules that you should let the pan cool first before soaking it in water for cleaning, and that it should be cleaned with a soft sponge to avoid scratching the surface. I've also only used wooden utensils with the said pan, so what am I doing wrong that's causing my pan to become useless so quickly?

I'll be buying a new pan soon, and I'd really like it to last much longer than its predecessor did... :(

    Thanks! ^_____^

  • Where can I find the serial number on a Canon Powershot A430?

I just bought a new Canon Powershot A430 (silver) from someone and I'm trying to register it for an e-warranty. However, it's asking me for the serial number, and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the box.

Where on the camera can I find the serial number? Is it the number printed at the bottom of the camera, near the hole for a tripod?

(I'm in the Philippines, by the way, if that matters)

    Thanks!
