  • Wacom Intuos vs Wacom Bamboo Fun?

I'm looking into getting my first tablet to try out digital art. Right now it seems my best options for price and ease of use are the Wacom Intuos (New Version (CTL490DB)) and the Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. Both got great reviews, but the Fun is more expensive. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

  • Cheap digital art tablet for beginners?

I want to try my hand at digital art but dont want to fork over huge amounts of cash for a tablet that I may or may not really use. I mean, I think I'd like to do digital art but idk if I'd get enough use to justify some of those multihundred dollar things

  • Good dog gone "bad"?

I have a four year old neutered male Chihuahua terrier mix who, after a year of separation from me, left my family's home in Georgia to come to me in Missouri where I attend school. Back in Georgia, Cobalt was well behaved- obeyed commands, never resource guarded, was wary but never aggressive to new dogs, never fought with my parent's other two dogs. He had minor separation anxiety, but could be crated or left loose without any more fuss than a few appeasement behaviors.

Shortly after he came to me in Missouri he started acting... off. He started getting into fights with my roommate's dog, became window-aggressive towards passersby, started becoming aggressive at other pets over food, toys and even me, stopped listening to commands, developed severe separation anxiety when crated- going as far as smashing a hole through the drywall while IN his kennel, and overall shows signs of anxiety/stress (growling, refusal to look directly at anyone unless planning to charge them while snarling, tail low, ears pinned back, licking lips, compulsive licking of pillows, trembling)

I've tried training him, exercising him, giving him a private food station, having him wear calming collars or take calming pills, but nothing has worked. I don't want him to be away from me, but I don't know what to do to improve his quality of life. It's been 9 months since he came here, but the behavior has worsened- not improved. Should I ask the vet if I can put him on Prozac? Send him back to Georgia?

  • How to pick between two rats for neutering?

I have two male dumbo rats- Benny and Jack. Both are sweet, both have their upsides and downsides. But I can only take one of them with me to college according to my dorm rules. I want to get that one neutered to reduce odor. The other will stay at home with my little sister.

Jack is shy when I try to get him from his cage. He squeaks frequently when I pick him up, and is the most likely to fear-pee/poo if grabbed. But, he is also more laid back and less likely to go explore- content to sit on my lap.Benny is an explorer. He'll gladly get out of his cage with or without my assistance, and cheerfully poke his nose into everything. Nothing fazes him- not even my dogs (he crawls all over them). But he isn't very driven to be with me.

When I go to college, I'm hoping for a calm snuggle-buddy, which makes me lean towards Jack. But I also don't want to traumatize the animal with how different the environment might be. I figure after the surgery there's a chance that Jack will become extra-squish and not care about being picked up, or Benny might mellow out into a cuddler. I want to get the surgery done soon, since I'll be moving around during the summer a bit.

Does anyone have any input or opinions on what I should do?

  • Looking for a vacuum?

So I own small animals- rats- and they shove their bedding (carefresh or aspen shavings) all over the floor outside their cage. It’s nearly impossible to pick it all up, and I hate the messy look. Does anyone know of a small (handheld would be great since I’m tight on space) vacuum that’s tough enough to suction up aspen/carefresh and not get clogged up?

  • Yu-Gi-Oh banned list?

It's been a long time, but I kind of wanted to get into dueling again. Just really low-key stuff with my friends, and any future friends I might meet who play.

I just learned about the concept of banned cards though, and since certain ones- like Pot of Greed and Change of Heart- are in my old deck, I wasn't sure what that meant for me.

Do I have to remove them? Can someone explain the banned cards concept?

  • Best oil for my VW bug?

This is my first car, and my parents have always done whatever the mechanic said was best, so I can't ask them for advice.

Its a model 2000, and has about 86000 miles.

What oil should I use? My mom said go conventional, the mechanic said synthetic was better (albeit more expensive, so I'd prefer not to use it if possible).

Also, I'm not sure when to get the tires rotated. Or when an engine filter should be changed.

  • Dealing with aggression in young puppy?

My four month old rescued mixed breed (chihuahua something, we think), Cobalt, is showing some seemingly aggressive behavior. He is fine with our dogs, but when in the yard barks and growls at our backyard neighbors dog. His hackles are raised, a full spiky line of fur down his back stands on end. I read that this is considered a red flag, but I am unaware of how to nip this issue in the bud.

  • Dealing with needy dogs?

I have two dogs- a three year old rescue Pomeranian (Shane) and a two month old Heinz 57 (Cobalt).

The two get along well enough, no conflicts. The only worry I have is how to ensure everyone gets enough attention. Shane was cripplingly shy when he first came home, and to this day remains unsure. He is however, curious about me, and tentatively will approach me on the couch or follow me around the house (although never into a room where I could close the door and trap him inside). Because of his shyness, I always make sure to praise him warmly when he takes a new milestone (eg, sitting so his body touches my leg, approaching me on his own etc). These things have shown marked improvement in his behavior around me.

Cobalt, as a puppy, is pretty needy. Like Shane, hes crate-trained, although he lives up to the crying puppy stereotype easily. When away from his crate, he is showing signs of being a lap dog- always heading for the nearest person to cuddle up to and fall asleep. During training sessions and walks, if I stop to praise Shane for walking well (he has only started on leash training a few months ago), Cobalt will attempt to climb onto my lap.

The real issue is during rest periods. Shane will not approach me if Cobalt is already on my lap. Likewise, he wont come when called if Cobalt is already at my feet. I know that puppies need a good deal of attention and training at this point, but so does Shane (who has the social mentality of a puppy, but lacking in the bold affection-seeking traits).

How can I balance my interactions between the two to ensure that neither is neglected?

  • There is nothing wrong with my dog but...?

My dog Blue, light of my life, that special, once-in-a-lifetime, almost human dog, passed away earlier this year. He was three years old, and was hit by a car.

My life without a canine companion was empty, so I went to a shelter knowing full well I would not find another Blue. A month and a half after Blue's passing, I adopted a three year old rescue Pomeranian named Shane. Shane was never properly socialized, and so he has some shyness issues. Hes often playful and charming, but doesn't enjoy being touched and backs off when approached. Nonetheless, he is a good dog and I like him.

But like is all there is. He has a lot against him- he marks in the house, isn't housebroken, and doesn't enjoy my company. But he is a good dog, friendly and fun to watch, pleasant to groom, and he stops me from feeling too lonely.

In summary, hes a nice dog and there is nothing wrong with him. But... he also doesn't feel quite right either. Someone told me that I got Shane to make me happy, and if he doesnt make me happy, I should give him up for a dog that would. But nothing hes done justifies returning him, and I would feel incredibly guilty doing so anyway. My question is, how can I grow to like this dog? Because I'm the only one in the family who does (everyone else thinks hes nice, but frowns upon his non-housebroken-ness) and I feel that he deserves it. Since hes gotten almost comfortable with us, it feels cruel to return him after keeping him for a month.

    Does anyone have any advice?

  • How to desensitize dogs to cats?

I am thinking about adopting a new dog. I plan on having a dog who wont develop aggression/fear towards felines. However, I don't own a cat.

Without having constant exposure to a cat, how can I train a dog to get along with cats?

  • If sea level rose 250 ft, how would this affect the tide?

THIS IS A COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO! Please, just pretend that this happens in the future okay?

So, if the average tidal shift worldwide is about 2 feet, if sea levels rose an additional 250 feet, how would that affect tides worldwide? Would the tidal reaches double? Triple?

  • How to feed Western Hognose?

I just got my male hog (Rayek) two weeks ago. His breeder had him once a week on pre-killed hoppers. Nonetheless, I cant get him to touch anything. I've made it as appitizing as possible- crushed the skull like the breeder recomendeed, but he still wont touch it. If I dangle the mouse for him, he puffs up and hisses in a threat display. I know that technicly, he can go a long time without food, but since I just got him (and hes my first hognose), I cant help but be worried.

  • Is this terrarium large enough?

I'd like to get a brazilian rainbow boa. My current tank is 17 inches tall, 30 inches long and 12 inches wide. As of now, I don't own a boa, but IF I purchase one, at what length should I upgrade the setup? How large can a snake get before it would need to be in a bigger tank (3ft? 4ft? Never needs a bigger habitat?)

  • Snake and small mammals in the same room?

I own two rats and a rabbit. I would like to add a ball python to my menagerie. The question is, with rat-rabbit scent in the room constantly, would my snake become aggressive ( strike out at my hand in confusion?)

Would it be safe, for me, to hold a snake in the same room as my small furries?

  • How to work up muscles for two-point?

Unfortunately, I have not been able to ride for over a year now, and its been even longer since I jumped. Now that the opportunity is back, I decided to return to riding. But, as anyone whose ridden a horse knows, there are special muscles that you just... lose. Because of that, I cannot two-point properly, my muscles wont support me like they used to, and posting with a soft seat is difficult as well.

I ride once weekly, and I was wondering if anyone knew how I could stretch and /or build up those lost muscles in any way.
