  • Should I go on a holiday I can't afford?

I have been invited by my mum to go to QLD (I live in Victoria, Australia) in August and I really want to go as I am 23 and have never been on a plane or been anywhere out of the state for a holiday.

My little sister has her aerobics championship there so they are going up for a weekend but will also be going to the theme parks.

The only problem is the timing, I have a maxed out credit card, no savings, what money I am getting from working full time is going to my rego ($712) at the end of this month and my car service ($500) at the end of July. Plus a holiday my partner and I planned mid July to the snow. Not to mention general food and transport costs on top of this. In other words, I'm screwed for money at the moment and trying to just pay things off and save...

I really want to go and my mum is nagging the hell out of me but should I? I will have a spare $300-$400 by August but if I spend it I will be back to square one and won't be getting in the green until late August.

I hate my job and desperately need a good holiday. Would you do it for the sake of a nice holiday even though you know you could not afford it?

  • Does anyone feel like they want a baby but just cant afford it?

I really want a baby at some point in my life but time is ticking away and I am just feeling like I will never be able to afford it.

I have always struggled for money and I don't even have a stable career, let alone a house. I am 24 so still young but I have been saving for a holiday since I was 17, how am I supposed to afford a child's education if I cant even afford a holiday.

I moved out of home at 14 and spent the last ten years working out what I want to do in my life and just getting by on a very thin line. I have only just found out what I want to do but it will take 8 years.

My partner doesnt want kids but I am at a stage where I really do and it makes me depressed that I may NEVER be settled enough to have a child.

Does anyone else feel this way?

  • What type of computer do I need?

I am looking into buying a new computer after my four year old HP completely stopped working. I was thinking a Toshiba Satellite C50-A01R. It has 8 GB RAM, Intel Quad Core Processor, 500GB Hard Drive and 2.1 GHz processor.

I will be planning on buying a laptop and have a user for myself and my partner. On this computer I will be studying which involves using web pages and Microsoft programs. I will also be running a business which requires a web development software called Prestashop and using Photoshop Creative Cloud to make banners and advertising material.

My partner and I would both use the computer for streaming, downloads and web surfing. There would be no game playing.

Is the laptop I am thinking of buying suitable for my requirements?

  • What is it like being a primary school teacher?

I am thinking of enrolling into university to do a bachelor in education - primary and I would really like to find out first what it is actually like to be a primary school teacher in Australia in particular (or anywhere).

I have heard so many mixed reviews and don't know what is correct. People who hate their jobs and work 60 hours a week compared to people who love it and work 40 hours.

What about the holidays? Do you get all the term/christmas breaks off and work from home or do you still come into the school?

I love children and I love the idea of being able to make a difference. I work in administration and have done so for six years and it annoys the crap out of me when I feel I am not contributing to anything worthwhile. I hate my job and want a change. I loved primary school and think it would be a very exciting and worthwhile job.

I would be doing part time university studies over six years. I have heard there are very limited jobs in primary teaching and nobody can find work, is this true?

I understand the hours would be long but some people state it is 7am - 11pm.... I have also heard the pay is really, really awful.

I would love to hear anybodys opinion of what this career is actually like...

    Thank you :)

  • How to do university placements while working full time?

I am thinking of enrol long it a university course (bachelor of education - primary)

I have wanted to be a teacher as long as I can remember but just never followed my dream.

I am now in an admin job and I hate it! I am sitting by while my life is going nowhere.

I have a car to pay off, rent to pay and children to feed so I can only study online. I found an online course and was ecstatic but... It requires 84 weeks of placement over four years.

I don't think any employer would allow this much time off...

Is there anyone here in the same position who found a way around the working vs studying cunundrum.

  • Why does my laptop sleep/power off when I plug in the power cable?

I have a HP compaq laptop and a few months ago I started having a problem where my laptop sleeps/powers off when I plug in the power cable. The computer runs fine on battery but as soon as the charger cord goes in the screen goes black and the fans stop but yet the computer is still on.

If the charger is plugged in when I switch on my computer I just get a blank screen. I have tried replacing the battery and the cord, changing the power settings, hibernate settings, taking the battery out etc.

    It's really annoying. Please help!

  • Is it permissible by law to use someone elses logo?

I am starting up an online business and now up to the very difficult stage of finding a logo. I have no creative bone in my body and there are 100s of logo designers on the web and I have no idea who will do a good job.

I have found the PERFECT logo but the only problem is that it is taken (by who I don't know). My company name is Pick of the Litter (Australia) but apparently there is a Pick of the Litter in the U.S...

I really want their logo but just change the colours of it.

Is it permittable by law to use someone elses logo based on them not copywriting or trademarking it as well as them being in another country?

  • Should I get a full head of foils or a full colour?

I am going to the hairdressers soon to get my colour changed and hair cut. I am a medium brown at the moment and want to go a dark chocolaty brown with some red on the side and in the fringe. I am a bit confused on whether I should get a full colour or full head of foils. Are foils only when going from brown to blonde or are they generally better to use on any colour?
