I have a small network; 1 PC (Toshiba(TOSH) first to have NM Pro & Vista) three PC's (the kids, each with different OSs -XP-Vista - Win 7) and now I have a new Macbook Pro, with OSX 10.7.2 LION, which I HAVE to use for work and school. I gave TOSH to wife who does not want to give it back and won't monitor network, (bummer-still stuck with job, thought would go to wife with TOSH) I have Network Magic on my Mac running under Vista (parallels). I can see the full network (map) on TOSH, but not on Mac (I assume because of parallels running virtual machine) I need something similar to Network Magic that I can install on my Mac to manage the network, so I can throw off the kids if they are getting into wrong things, plus I need to keep intruders out. I am wondering if there is any software out there that will give me the tools I need, other than NM or the router's webpage, because NM is no longer available for OSX LION. I am new to networks, but have been computer user since 1975 and have built custom PC's back in the day (286-386-pentium) but still new to networking. I really need help before wife gets mad because kids are getting out of hand and letting boyfriends and girlfriends on network. Yeah I can change my network password, but that gets old when having to do it daily. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance

What program does the best job of defragging a hard drive. Which one shows the drive accurately, defrags until there are zero fragments, etc. Back in the old days(win 95/98) the included defrag showed the drive better than xp or vista and did a better job anything like that out there today?

I set the laptop on a table and started a defrag on the 250gb HDD. I fell asleep and when I woke I discovered that my girlfriend had accidentally pulled the ac adapter from the laptop. While the defrag was running, with no AC power, the battery ran down and the COMPUTER powered off. So basically the defrag screwed up the HDD. I assume because the defrag could not finish (no power) it screwed the MBR. Now the computer will not boot, keeps coming back as PXE-e61 media failure, since that is network boot, I am assuming HDD failure, bad HDD. I tried XP install, no luck could not write to drive, tried Vista, won't get past "hit enter to install" (keyboard will not work) I know keyboard is not bad as it works when it gets to certain points in XP. I guess since HDD is not working, keyboard can't function. I tired flash BIOS nothing. Keyboard will not work, sometimes I can get f2 to open Bios, but keyboard will not work in that either. I plan on putting in a new HDD, but I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with a HDD doing this. I am thinking I could put the HDD in an External enclosure or HDD dock and maybe fix it by trying to format it using my desktop. Any ideas?

Does anyone KNOW links that will lead me to REAL indian registry in Canada? Is there anyone out there who knows ANY tribal links or can direct me to links that WORK. I do not need DNA testing, or told to ask parents. If it was that easy, I would call her parnets and ask, but WE can not find THEM. we know thier names(she WAS adopted by US citizens) We KNOW the things we need, just can not find nations that we can contact. Would think it was easy, but no links work, no e-mails work and most phone numbers to tribes are no longer good that I find on the net. Any one KNOW how I can contact REAL ALEUT nation or CREE nation offices in Alberta Canada? Most websites lead to usless info or bad links. I will try Canad indian affairs bu tcant seem to find REAL address/ Anyone?

Cree and Aleut from Alberta Canada. and I would like toknow how to find her nation. I would like to find people who are prefferably from Alberta or one of the nations that she is from to find out which nation she actually belongs. Please do not tell me to have her DNA tested or to ask her parents(she was adopted) none of these answers will help at all. And do not tell me If she is really full Bood, etc. We know she is who she is, her birth record in hand, etc. Please do not tell me to check canada indian records, it is not as simple as you non natives think. Real answers only please.

My girlfriend is full blood native american, Aleut and Cree, from Alberta Canada, does anyone know how I can find the nation/tribe to which she should belong? she was adopted by Germans? in Philly when she was 7 so she does not know much about her biological family. Any info will help

I rent/lease marina space for customers to store or work on their privately owned boats and yachts. Is it illegal for me to demand in rental/lease contract that my customers MUST purchase ALL parts, supplies, tools from MY boating store only. If my rental customers purchase supplies elsewhere then use them on their own boats, then they will be fined a percentage of my profit loss or they will be evicted. Have I made an illegal contract or violated any laws?

I rent spaces for the public to repair their own cars. Is it legal for me to demand in contract that my rental customers purchase ALL tools and ALL supplies and ALL parts from MY auto parts store (I own the store) only. space rental customers who purchase tools,parts, supplies elsewhere then use them on their cars, will be fined a percentage of the profit I have lost. Am I violating anti-trust laws?

is it illegal for me to put a line in a lease that tells my tenants that they must purchase ALL home repair products from my store only. They will be fined (200% of profit loss) if they purchase goods elsewhere and then use them to make repairs to the property they rent from me.

I have microwaved more than one cockroach for more than 2 minutes and they still act as though they have not been harmed. I never followed them for more than a few seconds, or I killed them with something else, but they acted as though nothing had happened to them. Any ideas on how long it takes to microwave a cockroach to death?
