How did I get a cut AND a bruise?
This is the first time this kind of injury has happened to me before, so I'm curious as to why this happened. I was riding my bike wearing shorts; sometimes I would scrape myself with a pedal or something or I would fall. Either way, I got two cuts over bruises. I have no idea how that happened. I mean, isn't a bruise bleeding without broken skin? Why was there a bruise when I had a cut? Was there more than one layer of skin that wasn't cut? Was the cut too small for the blood to dissipate?
I'm basically asking this stuff for science's sake; nothing big. I'm just intrigued.
1 AnswerInjuries9 years agoSo...do people in California have a distinct accent?
I never noticed any difference between tone, but the usage of certain words, slang, etc. are just what I would describe the verbal style as.
I've lived in California for the majority of my life; visited several other states in the country, I can hardly tell apart any accent differently from my own, save for medium to very heavy/noticeable accents.
I mean, not the stereotypical Valley Girl accent with the very "musical" uppity tonal speech.
I mean, for real. I'm just curious since I (and the majority of Californians) think we collectively don't have an accent.
And if we do, what separates us from the rest of the other accents? (Besides word usage, obviously.)
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture9 years agoBlue, turquoise, or purple? Pick two.?
These are my top choice colors for hair streaks. I have all three colors, and my hair is already bleached by my hair stylist. It's all semi-permanent, and currently I have blue and turquoise in my hair. Since it fades out quickly, which colors should I do? 2 colors only, please. Thanks.
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoHow long does it take for a sprained ankle to heal?
Ok. So last Saturday, my youth group was playing steal the bacon. The object we sought for was a shoe which was tossed over the fenced playground area we were near. Naturally, in my competitive spirit, I jumped the fence. I landed awkwardly on my ankle and got it sprained. On Monday, I had it checked out and the doctor confirmed it being an ankle sprain. Now, it's been a week and two days of my ankle having signs of injury. How long does it take for it to heal?
2 AnswersInjuries9 years agoIs there a medical term for this condition?
So, I kind of have a habit of saying I'm fine right after a negative experience/potentially traumatic/traumatic experience...Then the next thing you know, I'm bawling my eyes out in chemistry.
I have clinical depression as well as anxiety, just so you know. And my psychiatrist thinks I may have PTSD as well.
3 AnswersMental Health9 years agoHow do I take less notes?
It's slowing me down on my classwork since I think everything's important in the chapter. It's actually a pretty serious problem, and even more since I am in AP World History. The workload isn't exactly a small amount either, so it's really important I take good notes, but a whole lot less.
I tried asking my teacher about it the VERY FIRST DAY but he just told me to "write less." Wasn't very helpful.
4 AnswersHomework Help9 years agoDoes cutting a shoe sole near the middle help with running?
My cross-country friend says that if I cut a shoe sole somewhere along the middle of the shoe (across the width, not length) that it should help with my running. I don't know about it, but he said his coach told him that. Does it help or not?
5 AnswersRunning1 decade agoShould I go for long distance (fast/slow twitch)?
During tryouts, I got cut off track and field for the hurdles, sprints, long jump, and the throws. My friend said I should have tried pole vaulting and distance as well. As I was training for the sprints, I was not going to the distance tryouts/workouts. I didn't like distance, but I like sprints. I am horrible at sprints but better at distances. So, I tried to talk to the distance coach to let me on the distance team. It turned out it was required to have a liking for distance, so no chance of getting in that. A person on the sprints team said I most likely have slow twitch muscles and that I should be a distance runner, not a sprinter. So, I want to know if I have fast twitch or slow twitch so I will know what to try out for next year.
3 AnswersRunning1 decade agoShould I try out for Track & Field or Swim?
OK, I am at a dilemma here. I want to try out for my school's spring sports. I'll start with my troubles of track and field first. I don't know which event I should do for track and field. It's preseason right now, and I went to the preseason practice for sprints. I don't think I can do sprints. I was left behind the other runners, mostly because they did multiple sprints in a short amount of time. But then again, that was my first practice at my school. I'm a freshie and the rest of the sprinters....were not freshies... so I don't know the real pace. I've never done school sports before. Should I keep practicing sprints and get stronger for the start of the season or another event? I'm thinking of long jump.
I do swim mostly for fun, because it's not the summer anymore, and I'm far too busy for leisure swims. It's because I don't like the chlorine anymore, and when I do want to go out in the water, I go to the beach to surf, which I enjoy a lot, because I don't want to go in chlorine water. I still love swim though, hence my obsession with water sports.
What do you think I should do?
3 AnswersOther - Sports1 decade agoWhy are schools teaching evolution as fact?
Now, my high school teaches evolution as fact, but i don't see how SOME organisms just thought "oh, let's drop this asexual thing and go produce with each other!!!" They would also have to have the changes in genetics ahead of time, and would, thus, all die at the same time. Because of the inconsistency of how the "ancestors" had mutations, BEFORE they came to earth, it really does begs the question: how were they supposed to know how their future environment was like? Also, the basis of the LAW OF thermodynamics, there states that things are destroyed, not created. The big bang was nothingness, and "created" something. how can something destroying something be creating??? Evolution we always have to change. The Bible and biblical teachings? No. Usually, I'll just say "wait till judgment day," but I'm tired of saying so. But also, for anyone who wants to debate me with "reason," there's a lot more scientific evidence of creationism as much as evolution, so if you want to challenge on that, i will.

frog ----------------------> prince= fairy tale and frog------------------------> prince= science??? WHAT??? Does not make sense. At. All. Also, please be my guest, judgment day is coming, the law of thermodynamics is in place. Can you see it too???

5 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoIs this a reference to Uglies by Scott Westerfield?
in the movie "the spy next door", a terrorist creates a bacteria that will eat away at petroleum products. I just wanted to know if this actually refers to that. I mean, in Uglies, someone invented a virus that would contaminate oil products, and would burn up when exposed to oxygen.

1 AnswerWords & Wordplay1 decade agoWhy is nobody educated on this?
I have seen so many wrong assumptions about depression and people hate commenting. It really isn't good that yahoo still enables people to do this. I had depression and know what it's like and there are very few people who knows anything true about depression. I am better but I still have some problems to smooth out. I just can't bear to see people judging by opinion on what others may feel like.
8 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoDoes anyone think that the singer of the band Boys Like Girl's voice has matured?
i mean, i listened to several songs on Love Drunk and listened to their album Boys Like Girls and I think Martin Johnson's voice has matured. I really didn't know people looked at these things to artists with more than one album out, but i found out that they did a little while back (around when Fearless came out) when browsing iTunes and found someone saying that about Taylor Swift's voice, and now I've been doing it too.
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoFriend/guy problem? Kinda hard to understand...?
ok, so my friend thinks that if I talk to my crush it's like death and when i try she's like nooooooooo.... and he actually know i like him cuz one time i looked over where everyone was getting outta school and he looked at me in a wth way. not really but in a why are you staring kinda way. today i tried to (somehow) get song lyrics delivered and my friend totally stood in my way. i actually wanna get rejected so my friend can stop teasing me about him. last time my friend was at my house (last thursday) and she made me login to my facebook and she friend requested him on my account. she bet me $5 that he would accept, then i'm like "no he won't." when he did, i was so confused. he knows that i like him and he still accepted my friend request. and my friend tells me "he's not cute" and "no, stop being obsessed" when i am not. so today, i tried to pass him a note indirectly by letting one of my friends pass the note. my friend (the first friend) took the note and showed my other friend. it kinda took like 10 minutes. when i checked, the dude was gone. what does my friend mean by all this?
