  • What is meant when the two lovers say: "he'd kill US if he knew." at the end of The Conversation?

Is the added emphasis on "us" in fact on the tape or just in his mind?

  • I thought it was long and boring and the hero, far from being bad news was kind of a wimp.?

What did you think about Joe Hill's The Fireman? I was very excited to read it after having read NOS4A2, but I found it to be pretty wearying.

  • Is Moby Dick overrated?

I recently read Moby Dick and I was bored to tears. I read War and Peace and loved it. But Moby Dick has a narrator who disappears afters about 100 pages. Is this supposed to be good writing? Any answers will be appreciated.

  • Why don't I kill myself?

I am on Effexor and Depacote and Xanax and I see a therapist and still I feel depressed, panicky, anxiety-ridden, angry almost all the time. I'm pretty sure that I'm bi-polar. And I'm pretty sure there is no hell after death because I'm in it right now. And while it's been pretty well drummed into my head that one simply marches on-one doesn't kill him or herself; I can safely say that 99% of the time I am convinced that my family and I would be better off if I was dead. I offer nothing to my community. I don't believe that my family loves me; I feel they tolerate me because I am their son and sibling and uncle. Please somebody out there tell me what to do.

  • Who loves Nirvana's song Scentless Apprentice?

Does anybody else think that Scentless Apprentice is the most underrated song by Nirvana? I mean that loud anarchic screeching. I can't listen to it unless the volume is like up to 10. And how about Very Ape, that driving bass, the moment that Chris Novoselec really gets to shine? But I love Kurt on every song but without Grolh's drums, I don't know. Does anybody else think that In Utero was their best album? Cobain lives on!!

  • Did anyone see Sunday night's episode of Breaking Bad. Walt is a BAD ***!?

How in the world are they going to top that in the finale? For the first time this season, Jesse looks like a human again. God I love that show.

  • I answered a question about the Nobel Peace Prize, but this is a question that must be asked?

How does someone who has done apparently nothing win the prize? I applaud Pres Obama for having a seemingly sincere desire to bring peace between the Israelis and the Muslims, better relations with the Russians even work with the Chinese (though at the expense of the Dalai Lama and Tibet!); but the peace prize, I believe, is about accomplishing peace initiatives throughout the world, not your good intentions to do so. Obama has not been in office long enough to bring about any real change. More and more I see the bias toward liberals that the conservatives keep squawking about. Maybe they have a point in there somewhere....I welcome any pro or con responses to my opinion.

  • Does anyone read Dennis Lehane novels?

I read over a hundred pages last night to get to the end of Prayers for Rain, the final Patrick Kenzie-Angie Gennaro mystery! I just couldn't put it down. Heartbreaking story with insane villains who get their asses handed to them by Kenzie and Gennaro with a little help from their friend, Bubba Rogowski. Lehane says he won't write any more mysteries. I'm so sad that I've read them all. What do you all think?

  • Is there anyone who loves the movie Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist?

I'm a guy and I don't usually like "chick flicks, but I start blubbering at the end because I'm so happy for Michael Cera and Kat Dennings' characters. I wish I had friends like his two gay band mates Thom and Dev, who are out to help him get over Tris, the girl who dumped him. And it is so damn funny when Lethario head-butts Tal! You can tell I love this movie.

  • Question about the rock band Nirvana?

I know that Soundgarden's Superknown is supposed to be the essential grunge album and I know that lots of you like Nirvana's Bleach better than In Utero, but I want to hear reasons why the first two songs off In Utero: Serve the Servants and Scentless Apprentice are NOT the two greatest songs of the entire punk era. I don't care if you agree with me or not; I just want to know if and why I'm wrong. The very first time I heard them I just knew they were classics. 10 points to the best argument!!

  • On Curb Your Enthusiasm is Marty Funkhouser your favorite character?

Funkhouser is such a moron. But I love him. He used to be on Late Night with David Letterman and he was stuntman Super Dave. And he would always be there to do a very serious life threatening stunt. Only at the last second he would be replaced by a dummy which would be decapitated! or something else horrible. Does anyone remember this? Does anyone like him on Curb?

  • I wonder why I have been depressed for nearly 10 years?

I broke up with someone in 2001 and I can't get over it. I wonder if other people are going thru this. I don't want to live. I can't get better. Yes I feel sorry for myself, but nothing good ever happens. I fall deeper into debt. I get fatter. I can't talk to anyone. Does anyone know what I can do? I would be so appreciative if someone had some sort of answer. Please don't say get over it. You don't know how hard it is to walk in my shoes until you do so.

  • Who would win this movie fight?

OK. Jason and Michael Myers have decided to join forces in order to rule the world. The only one who can stop them is Freddy Krueger; but he has a little help on his side: Dirty Harry. This has been gnawing at me for years. Which tag team would be the *** kickers?

  • I am listening to some rock this morning at work: Led Zeppelin IV.?

I just thought of a word that comes to mind when I hear Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and When the Levee Breaks especially: ORGIASTIC. It makes me want to roll around on the floor! It sounds like what rock and roll was meant to be. What do you think?

  • What is the meaning of Hitler getting shot in the movie Inglourious Basterds?

I had an original thought about this, and I have very few of those. Let's say that throwing out the theory of an alternate universe what could Tarantino have been trying to say by having the Basterds kill him when we know that Hitler committed suicide in 1945? I would really like to hear some good thoughts on this subject.

  • Do you like the sound of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers?

I know some bands sound better live than others. But I had always kind of liked the Chili Peppers until I heard them perform live. Anthony Kiedis cannot sing a tune to save his life. What do you think about it.

Also could someone explain what the song Californication is about? I mean I know what it's ABOUT, but are they celebrating the porn industry in the song or criticizing it? Please I want to know!

  • What do you all think of the film Inglorious Basterds?

I have to admit that it is my least favorite Tarantino film. But it still had some extremely tense scenes like the opener and the scene in the basement with Helen Kruger and Wilhelm the German soldier who has just had a baby. That scene was Tarantino at his best. Please give me your opinions.
