What is the meaning of Hitler getting shot in the movie Inglourious Basterds?

I had an original thought about this, and I have very few of those. Let's say that throwing out the theory of an alternate universe what could Tarantino have been trying to say by having the Basterds kill him when we know that Hitler committed suicide in 1945? I would really like to hear some good thoughts on this subject.

Am not sure if it is wise to try to put meaning into a Tarantino film.

He is not a director famous for trying to send a message but for entertainment.

Based on eyewitness accounts of the events surounding his death, they are pretty sure that Hitler killed himself. But since his and Eva Braun's remains were burned, they never made an absolutely positive ID of the bodies, so there is room for some wild speculation, if someone wants to have fun with it. I thinks that's all Tarantino is doing with most of his movies. Just having fun.

It would of been much better if we got him, instead of him getting himself.
