Tips on going to metal concert alone?
Okay so I'm going to paganfest tomorrow in the city and it's going to be my first metal concert alone in the US ( I've been to metal/punk festivals in Europe though.)
Do you have any tips on how to survive ( I'm 17btw.) are concerts in America significantly different from Europe ? How do the mosh pits compare ?
Thanks!!

Hey. I'm a senior in high school and history ( particularly Middle Ages Europe) interests me.
4 AnswersHistory7 years agoWhy is the Constitution and what the founding fathers believed so important to Americans?
Why don't people understand that it's our future and we can go through with it anyway we want? Americans cling to the Constitution and beliefs of dead people from 3 centuries ago as if they are bound by some kind of spell. Just because Ben Franklin didn't believe in something 300 years ago that doesn't mean we can't believe in it today.
In my opinion this type of mentality has us stuck behind the rest of the Western world.

13 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhich language would be best for me to learn?
Okay so I'm a freshman in college and I plan to become a dentist. I live in New York City and I already speak English and Polish and was thinking of learning a third language to widen my opportunities as a (future) dentist.
I guess the 2 big ones would be Spanish, ( for obvious reasons; 2nd largest lingual group in USA and growing) and Russian ( mainly for it's large presence in NYC and for ease of learning; Polish and Russian are both Slavic languages so it would be easier to learn than Spanish)
I know that you don't really need any language but English in certain parts of the U.S (midwest, New England.) If that is really the case then would German be a good language to pick up ( for historical and future reasons as I might be thinking of a move to Europe.)
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If I were to move to the South ( like Arkansas/Tennessee) would people accept me or just view me as a "dirty yankee?" etc.
Plus bq- what are some very conservative areas in the [deep] South?

Race wise, I think the U.S is very divided. Is it futile to attempt to divide it furthermore like many black and white leaders are doing?
8 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups7 years agoHonestly, how bad is the situation in Europe with Islam?
I'm an atheist living in the U.S, but I keep on hearing about how Islam is supposedly 'taking over' Europe. I looked up the demographics of a couple of countries ( U.K, Germany, etc) and Muslims make up less than 5% of the population so obviously they're outnumbered 95 to 5%. So that doesn't seem like much of a threat.
9 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups8 years agoGerman vs French? Better language to learn?
Hey. I'm 19, I live in NYC and want to learn another language. I can already speak English and Polish.
In the future I want to become a dentist/doctor so Spanish would seem like a good language but I studied it for about a month and completely hated it. Plus, I have Eu citizenship so a move to Europe or Canada is possible.
I really like the way French. I find it pretty high class and it would be beneficial if I wanted to move to Quebec.
German would be a good language because it would allow for me to live/travel in Central Europe.
I kind of narrowed it down to these languages because of their popularity and ease of learning. Many people might say that Spanish would be the most beneficial language, especially since I plan on becoming a doctor, but I know many people who are doctors and don't speak a word of Spanish and survive.
If you could offer advice on either language, that would be awesome. Thanks!

4 AnswersLanguages8 years agoWhat do you fear more? Big Government or Big Corporations?
Most conservatives (teabaggers especially) voice their concern over a "communist" style American government...but do they ever stop to think what life would be like with a limited government? With corporations and rich people controlling your entire life.
13 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy isn't Islam held accountable towards the same standards as Christianity?
I'm an atheist, I think all organized religion is bs, especially Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
What I do realize, however is that Muslims are held to different "standards" than Christians in the western world.
For example:
people openly criticize [some] Christians for not being accepting of homosexuality, yet the worst thing a Christian will do is insult or give a disgusting look to a gay man/woman. [some] Muslims are completely against homosexuality and urge for all homosexuals to be stoned.
When you criticize a Christian about the gay issue, it is okay. When you criticize a Muslim, people object and call you "racist" "Islamophobic" etc.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoHow to deal with being forced to go to church?
I'm 17 years old and an atheist but my parents are very religious (Catholic.) I don't want to tell them because it would be kind of pointless, especially since I'm going away to college in less than a year and won't ever have to go to church after that.
Did anyone else have this experience? How did you deal with going to church even though you disagree with literally everything the church teaches?
Thanks!
28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDoes it bother you that you are forever locked into the middle/lower class?
Think about it, no matter how hard you try the best you can do is become a doctor, and that's if you're lucky. The upper class jobs such as the politicians are reserved for the children of elitists.
12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoIn what sense is Canada "liberal"?
I don't know too much about politics but I've heard many people say that Canada is much more liberal than America.
Does "liberal" in Canada have the same meaning as "liberal" in America? In that case then Canadians as a whole would be more supportive of social programs like healthcare and food stamps? More supportive of gay marriage?
4 AnswersPolitics8 years agoShould I learn French or Spanish?
Hello.
I am 18 and live in NY, United States. I already know how to fluently speak English and Polish and I've decided to learn a third language.
My goal in life is to become an Orthopedic Surgeon (or a g.p if that doesn't work out.) I plan on leaving the U.S to Canada, U.K, or Poland after I complete medical school and residency ( luckily I have a E.U passport so I want to be able to use it to my advantage before the U.S becomes a 3rd world hell.)
Given that situation, I kind of came up with a list of + and - for learning each language:
Spanish :
+ you basically need it for a practice in any large American city
+2nd most popular language in the world
- most people who speak it in the States live in either NY, Florida, Texas, California, or the Southwest. If I were to live in New England or the south then it would be pretty useless.
French :
+ I like the sound of it better than Spanish.
+ if I were to move to Canada then the combination of knowing French, Polish, and English would be great.
+ it's a high class and pretty fancy language 8-)
- In the U.S it would be pretty useless (but very important in Canada.)
I'm leaning towards French because moving to Canada seems like a more possible reality than to the U.K or Poland.
If you could offer any advice for me on which language to pick then that would be greatly appreciated.

4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture8 years agoHow do Southern states with a large black population remain Republican?
According to the 2010 Census, Mississippi is only 58% White. It is 37% Black. We know that most blacks and some whites vote democratic, yet states such as Mississippi are some of the most conservative states in America. The state government of Mississippi is run by Republicans. Is it really like that in Mississippi that all of the whites are strong Republicans/conservatives?
I observed that this is also present in other strong Republican states such as Texas or Arizona, where whites again make up a smaller portion of society. Why is this? Are the other races just not voting? Or are there more black/Hispanic Republicans in certain areas than others?
Thanks!
10 AnswersPolitics8 years agoLearning Chinese vs. Spanish?
Okay so now that school is practically over, I want to learn a new language. I speak both Polish and English fluently and I want to add another language. I am 16 years old and live in NYC, so I can practice with both Chinese and Spanish speaking people. I plan to become a Dentist or doctor in the future so either language would be helpful.
Personally, I want to learn Chinese more because it is unique. Most [white] people in America already speak Spanish, or at least took it in high school. Finding a [white] person who speaks Chinese is pretty rare. Location also may play a role. Right now I live in NYC, which has large Chinese and Spanish speaking populations, but in the future, I am thinking about moving to the Pacific Northwest ( have family there.) Seattle, in particular, has a large Asian population, and I believe that knowing Chinese can be a vital asset if I become a dentist there.
If you can offer any advice on your experience of learning Chinese or Spanish or books/websites that can help, please do so. I think that learning any language is important, but in this case, I think Chinese will be more fun to learn and more useful in the future.
Thanks!
