  • Are there any typical reasons one might be getting worse at speaking?

I'm 21, f, relatively healthy but I have a longstanding relationship with depression and anxiety. Ever since high school, but most noticeably in the last couple of years my ability to speak has gone down the drain. I used to sound very fluent (in fact I loved public speaking!) but now I get all mixed up just speaking in casual conversation. It's a real bummer because language is my strong point - I have a large vocabulary and I even made a perfect score on the vocab and essay portion of my SATs

Now I mix up my words and forget them, as well as getting super tongue tied. Sometimes I even forget small words and basic verbs. When I really get on a roll I can't even get a basic sentence out without embarrassing myself somehow. I'm afraid it's even bleeding into my writing. When I'm writing sometimes I have to put it down and come back just to remember the word I was trying to write.

I don't want this to be such a big deal, but I really don't want this to get worse. Does anyone know what could be going on?

I do smoke and drink sometimes, but not excessively by any standards and I've already figured out they don't have an effect (but it does get worse when I'm high). Also I'm on an SSRI, if either of those things are important.

  • Hep finding semi-recent german movie?

I was an exchange student in Austria last year and at one point, around december/january we went to see a movie, but I can't remember what the name of it is! It was about a guy whose friends convince him to audition for a female role in a movie, and he ends up falling for another female lead. It was a comedy, and also some of the scenes had some English in them. If anyone knows the name of this movie help me out!

  • i can spread my toes apart, pick stuff up with them, and move my pinky toe individually...?

When I stand up, only my pinky toe touches the toe next to it, all the others are apart. It doesn't hurt- it's just normal.

Is there a word for that? Also, can you? I've never met anyone else who could do that, I was just wondering while I was cleaning today how common it is.

  • Can you suggest some bands similar to MGMT?

I've recently discovered that I really like MGMT so I was wondering if there are any other good bands that have that same kind of style. Best answer gets 10 points :)

  • Should I go to Belgium or Switzerland for my high school exchange year?

I've been reading a lot on both, but I'm still torn! My parents aren't very helpful either. If it's helpful, I'm great at languages, politics, psychology, history and other humanities but I kind of suck in math and (most) sciences. I'm very interested in politics and history... But mostly on this exchange I'm looking to live outside of my 'norm' and also of course I want to have some fun (though I'm sure either would give me ample opportunity!). Which country do you think would help me most, or be best for me? If you ever went on an exchange trip, how did you decide?

Oh, also, I snowboard, and I know I would probably get the chance to do that in Switzerland, but what about Belgium?

If you've been to either country or even both I would love to hear from you! Even if you haven't, go ahead and put your two cents in :)

  • Where should I go as a foreign exchange student?

I've officially received the O-K from my parents that I can be an exchange students next year (YES!) and now I need to pick the country I want to go to. Problem is, now that it's all really happening, I've found making a concrete decision is waayyy harder than expected. So I'd like some suggestions, please. I'm very much into history and culture, and I've pretty much already decided I want to go to Europe. I was thinking about Germany, then the Netherlands for a while, but I keep going back and forth on that. Sooo... do you have any suggestions? Please explain why :)

  • Is talking to strangers in public places really something only Americans generally only do?

Like, saying hi or making a comment about something to people your sharing an elevator or a bus with... I had a friend from the UK visit for a while and he said he got wierded out that people just started talking to him! I think this is completely normal, especially in an airport (where this happened) since you're usually just sitting there all bored waiting for your plane...

  • I'm writing in Word 2003, and whenever I go back to add something each new character deletes the one after it?

Like if I had this: "Hi I'm sentence"

and I wanted to go back and fix it by adding 'a' it would look like "Hi I'm aentence" even though I didn't delete the s.

    How do I stop it?

  • I need a new book-bag for school! Know any place online I could buy?

I'm hoping to avoid those cheapy bags. I just need something big enough to hold my books and cute enough to look good. Any style is good- shoulder, messenger, or even purse. If you could recommend some websites that'd be great :)

  • I live in Destin, FL.. is the oil spill going to majorly effect my summer?

Do you think it's going to drive away tourists? Are the beaches not gonna be white anymore? During the summers my friends and I pretty much live at the beach.. Are we gonna have to find a new spot?

I know it sounds selfish to worry about that kinda stuff when there's the whole environmental problem to deal with, but I'm really worried.

  • I'm am SO confused! Somebody explain the game mornington cresent to me! D:?

My English friends were just having a BALL confusing me. So now I ~really~ wanna know....

Though.. maybe I shouldn't bother because my gut instinct is telling me its just one of those weird games with super arbitrary rules that you had to have grown up with to understand at all.

  • Why do you think American girls generally like guys with accents (from anywhere) better than guys w/o?

I'm from the U.S. and me and my friends were talking about accents and eventually all agreed that a guy with an accent (it doesn't really matter the type, though some accents ARE preferable to others) are sexier than guys with just American accents. Why do you think this is? Is it just a U.S. thing or do other people in other countries also like accents that are different than their own?

    Just curious. :p

  • Why do people call shopping carts "buggy"s?

I call them buggys, and so does everyone else I know except my friend who keeps asking us why we call them that, and I realized that I don't know why. Does anyone know why?
